The AHL is most likely not having a season this year. So no, they couldn't have. Have you guys not been paying attention to all the news about that lately? The AHL season is HIGHLY in doubt. Which is why the Red Wings loaned guys like Veleno and McIsaac (who have no chance of making the NHL roster) to European league for the entire season, while the loaned buys like Seider and Zadina to Euro clubs with an "out" clause so they could play in the NHL.

I dont get this move. Why couldnt he just have been sent to the AHL? We would have gotten rid of his contract in 3 years, now its on the books for 6 including years that we may be a contender. Other then just being able to say hes off our roster, I dont like this move.

Could have buried Abby in GR until Nielsen's contract ran out and still saved SOME cap space. Then either buyout or 4th line duties.

I am a fan of Markstrom, but I don't feel like it's the right fit here, I highly doubt he wants to carry another rebuild on his back. Greiss in my opinion is the perfect goalie for us right now. 
Still hoping we draft Askarov, in my opinion is the clear 2nd best player in this draft. Maybe the best player from this draft when it's all said and done. Everyone hates how we have zero elite or game breaking talent. Askarov that if you ask me.
Off the board maybe, but I'd like to see Wayne Simmonds here on a 1 year deal as well. I could see trading him at the deadline, but give us some much needed toughness in the mean time.
As for Krug, it really depends on the contract if I'll love it or hate it. Gonna hate it if is more than 3 years.
My highly unlikely dream move is we send a offer sheet to Sergachev.

How TF does NHL have a higher percentage of "other" than MLB? I dont even trust this data. MLB is dominated by latinos and dominicans and i expect them to dominate this category. But hockey - a sport played in privledged northern countries - has more other viewers? Highly doubt. And honestly black viewing of the NHL is only 6% lower than the NFL? Please. Every black guy i know can tell you stafford's rushing stats off the top of their head. None of them ever even heard of steve yzerman though. BS stats or lying pollsters or pollers. 

Just too add you your point, almost every team was healthy. That pretty much never happens come playoff time. This could be the hardest cup to win ever when you look at the big picture.

well, so here's to hoping the #1-#3 players drafted are all busts and the #4 becomes the gem! as much as we all KNOW we got screwed, can't change it now. I dare Bettman to step foot in Michigan though!
There is no reason a #12 team should ever sniff the #1 overall! Meanwhile the bottom 7 team fans get screwed with no hockey AND no Lafreniere.
