Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread

Well those predictions were atrocious lol...

I had completely forgot Pinner was on Minnesota....absolutely hilarious to see him run all over us! I loved the shot of Kitna yelling something like "what the f*ck was he doing?!!" when he walked off after the last pick. Looks like we got the trifecta today...Garcia, Harrington, and Pinner all with W's.

Someone needs to pay attention and pick up Rogers just to play against us.

The more I think about it, the more I admire what the Lions are doing.

The NFL has shown us that you can win one week and lose the next regardless of what teams your playing. Not the case with the Lions. In a NFL filled with parity, the Lions remain consistant. Week in and week out they always find new and exciting ways to tank it in ways you wouldn't even think of. I know EXACTLY what I am going to get out of the Lions every weekend.

Thank you Detroit for being an example of consistancy for everyone else.

Poll-

1) Will the Lions make the playoffs in the next ten years?

2) Will the Lions win the Super Bowl in our life time?

No. 1 I say 50% chance, and No. 2 I will say a 5% chance

Not as long as the Fords own the team.

The Lions are such a sad case, I hardly know what to say anymore...

The saddest part is us fans are such gluttons for punishment, we keep going to games. I can't see the Ford family shaking things up as long as the stadium is full.

Here's some interesting tidbits about our beloved Matt Millen.

Millen had no prior player development or front office experience beforehand before being hired by the Lions.

He is widely regarded as a laughingstock in NFL circles, with former NFL executive of the year Ron Wolf's describing his record as "pathetic" and "inept."

The season before Millen, the Lions were 9-7 and barely missed the playoffs if not for a 54 yard fieldgoal by the Bears on the final play of the final game of the season.

Since Millen, the Detroit Lions are 23-71 as of December 17, 2006, the worst winning percentage of all 32 NFL teams during that time, and the worst record of any franchise in league history over a comparable period of time.

ugh.

Should I be tarred and feathered for actually starting to warm to the idea of drafting Brady Quinn?

(Not really warming up, but maybe thawing out...)

No, but a lobotomy ought to do it.

Until the offensive line is straightened out, there isn't a QB in the world that can save the Lions.

STEP RIGHT UP BRADY QUINN!!

Join the rest of the successful lions quarterbacks drafted in the first round like Joey Harrington, Andre Ware and Chuck Long. I never thought I would say this but Charlie Batch and Rodney Peete look better and better as a Lions QB.

There have been people speculating as to whether Brady Quinn would pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play for the Lions. I'm such a hypocrite about it, really. I don't want Quinn, and if he decided to do that, I'd probably actually be fairly happy about it. But I'd still hate him for it.

Oh, I wouldn't consider him a savior in any stretch. My biggest beef is that of all of the drafts the Lions have a lock on the No. 1 pick in that draft looks ho-hum. I can't justify taking a Joe Thomas No. 1... and how many laughs would generate if we picked up Calvin Johnson?

(Actually, I wouldn't mind that AT ALL. That guy is a freak and if the Lions are going with Roy and Furrey as 1/2 next season... Calvin looks studly.)

I'm not excited about the Lions' chances of moving down, either....

I hate Brady Quinn. If the Lions take him I will be happy, because I know he will have a horrible career.

In all honesty though Brady Quinn is overated, and would die (literally) with our OL. We need to draft Joe Thomas from Wisconson. Then after next season we can draft Brohm, Henne, or some other QB who joins in on the scene.

Hows Orvolsky been? If he is improving we may not even need to draft a QB in the near future...

If Millen gets fired the #1 pick could actually turn out to be a pretty nice farewell present for us. They need to be smart and trade down. Still stay in the top 10, but at least add a 2nd rounder. Hopefully theres someone out there who'd wanna leapfrog the Raiders to take Quinn if we have the #1.

Me and a buddy were joking that the Lions should just take 7 offensive lineman in the draft, 2 of them are bound to pan out!
