TheWestWing 71 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Not sure how many watched the game Saturday, but they were literally squeegeeing off puddles of water during intermission. Grapes was having (another) hissy fit - summin about getting some Kanadians down there to help Couple the fact that they're known for one of the worst surfaces in the NHL with the Mavs currently playing there also, and we could be in for a mess. 10 day forecast calls for around 80 with 50-60% humidity so its not gonna get any better. About the only reason not to play DAL that I can think of, besides that alien they currently have in goal - three playoff shutouts - where'd he come from?!? Not exactly an offensive oriented team. The Wings and Anaheim on the other hand...
Winged Scooter 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Anyone here remember the playoff game between the Wings and Stars in the 98 WCF where the humidity caused a pretty thick fog on the ice?

Bender 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 I dunno...after the choppy ice we saw in Calgary, maybe Dallas wouldn't be that much of an adjustment. At least the ice at the Joe has been good to us so far, and since we have home advantage against everybody in the west, that can only be good for the Wings. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 best thing about Dallas (besides the fact that the Wings are in Turco's head -- at least in the reg. season): it's in the Central Time zone, so the games won't be starting at midnight to east coast folks. I go to a lot of games in Dallas, and the main issue with AA Center is that it's multipurpose, but so are a lot of arenas. I have not actually seen bad ice there, really. If the weather holds in the 70s and 80s here for the next series, it ought to be fine. Wonder if I can get into a game if the Stars are our next round? stactum 4 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) He has faced about 210 shots from Vancouver so far I think. I believe he faced 199 shots so far and allowed 9 goals. Kipper on the other hand have faced 255 and allowed 18 goals. Edited April 23, 2007 by stactum
yankeebaddabing 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 First off I have to say that I absolutely hate dallas, but i would prefer to play them for 2 reasons.. 1. We have owned them this year!! 2. I live in texas so I will get to go to a game and see the wings beat them again... P.s San jose scares me as well, big tough team that has plenty of talent, so yeah I'm pulling for dallas... I agree with you, but who knows. We did well against Calgary with our physical play. Maybe we can knock off a few heads in Thorton and Cheechoo.

krudmonk v2.0 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Don't worry. Our ice sucks, too. We don't even have a basketball team to blame, just the arena crew or whoever's in charge.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Don't worry. Our ice sucks, too. We don't even have a basketball team to blame, just the arena crew or whoever's in charge. Usually it's just the warm weather. I mean, if that isn't the case, then I guess every southern team has a bad arena crew or something. I wonder why everyone is thinking the Stars will be such an easy pushover. Turco has played excellent in the series so far. 3 shutouts in 6 games is pretty damn good. Not that Vancouver really has much firepower beyond the Sedin twins, but still, he must be doing something right.

RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) I'm not to sure how many of you have actually played ice hockey. (in texas) But I lived there for two years, (highschool) and during our games the ice hardly ever had puddles on it, (besides warm-up) In fact i've seen just as many puddles in Michigan as I have seen down there. Anyways, the only difference I have ever seen playing in texas was that the ice was a bit softer and my blades dug into it deeper. [edit] Oh and for the record, I played in houston, not Dallas. Maybe it is different over there? Edited April 23, 2007 by RedWingedKitten
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 San Jose doesn't exactly have the best ice either. You know Nashville doesn't, and when our boys went out there, we had all kinds of skate problems due to their bad ice. So, good luck with either team you face. said it elsewhere, i'm by no means a redwings fan, hate them. But I hate the sharks and stars more now. So i'll be pulling for the Red Wings for yet another post season.

San Jose's ice cant be much better than Dallas'. As for Turco's shutouts, the Canucks dont have nearly the offense the Wings have, and What little offense they DO have (Naslund and the Sedins) have gone cold. I think i'd still like to play the Stars over the Sharks.
