2007 College Football Season Talk

I can't wait to attend my alma mater's game at Texas on September 8th. TCU I tihnk has an outside chance of winning, especially with the defense they have. Also, remember we upset #7 Oklahoma at their den in 2005. But I'm going to be realistic and not be a TCU homer and trash talk and say we "should" win. That's silly. Even though we are ranked right now, going on the road against a top-5 team is a wee bit difficult. I'll go bonkers if we win, but if we lose and keep the margin to 2 TDs or less being competitive (i.e. not losing 14-0 and generating some offense), I'll be happy. I'm betting UT will proabably be about a 14-20 point favorite.

Only a few more days until MSU kicks off, I can't wait. I really think that Dantonio is exactly what MSU needs. There's not going to be any miracles this season, epsecially with the schedule that MSU has, but I think this season is going to be a step in the right direction. Sadly, I won't make it back to EL for any games.

I'm drunk on Green Kool-aide, 12-0 baby! ;)

 That is the funniest thing I've ever seen. My favorite is the, "told you so" comment by Jim Harbaugh.

Classic.

Got my App State, and Ohio State tickets today. I am now pumped more then ever for college football!!! Who thinks the Big 10 will go 11-0 this weekend??? I do...

There's a pretty good chance they will with all of the tough non-conference opponents the Big Ten has this weekend. I don't see Illinois beating Missouri, but other than that the Big Ten should win out. I hope my hometown Toledo Rockets can pull off the upset against Purdue, but Painter should have a field day against UT's defense.

My Fighting Irish are going to have their hands full with Georgia Tech. One of the best defenses in the country, against an offense with minimal playing experience. I'm hoping for the best, but this could be a really long season, especially with the brutal schedule they have early on. We'll see what happens.

I dont think this is a season that's gonna be easy for Notre Dame fans. With so much changeover offensively and that brutal schedule, it'll be fairly impressive if they go .500.

Looking at the schedule, Notre Dame could possibly start the year 0-8. Good thing they've got 4 cupcakes at the end of the year.

I doubt it would happen, but it would be awesome if it did.

And #2 LSU is running away with this one in the 4th quarter against Miss. St. 45-0. Kinda a deceiving score as it was "only" 3-0 after 1 quarter and State's defense was played damned good and hard. LSU was grooming a new QB more/less to an extent, but when the opposing team's QB throws 6 interceptions, that leads to a short field more often than not. If not for MSU's defense tihs game, it could easily be something like 63, 70-0.

I think with JaMarcus Russell, LSUs former QB and #1 draft pick being so damned good, as well as beating Notre Dame pretty good in the Sugar Bowl last year, got them the #2 ranking. I'm not sold on it yet. 45 points, but as stated, 6 INTs plus a fumble recovery, so the offense is still a work in progress. I'd rank them more around 7-9 right now.

I'll tell ya what's slightly frustrating. The season starts September 1 (well, UM and UVA do, anyway) and here it is September 1 and the season hasn't started, because I'm still just slightly west of the date line. Dammit, I don't wanna wait til Sunday morning to find out the game scores.

I am wandering the same thing. I got VA Tech-ECU on and it's halftime and just saw highlights and now 28-14!

Appalachian State is no pushover despite being I-AA and it's a season opener, but still....

Jack, you should be watching MSU-UAB ;)

So far, the first few days of college football have treated me right. Rutgers won on Thursday. Now MSU is dominating at the half and Michigan is behind. I'm certainly not willing to hand the game to App. State yet though, Michigan has too many weapons on offense for the game to be done.

I'm a Gopher, so I no longer have any love for Michigan, but I still don't want them to lose to a frelling I-AA team, champ or not. It makes the conference look bad.

Normally I would agree with you. If it was any big 10 team other than UM I'd be cheering for them.

But, my two favorite teams are MSU, and whoever is playing UM.
