WOW.... I am embarassed to have even lived in the state of Michigan.

What happens if App State runs the table and wins the I-AA championship and the Wolverines have a respectable season.... Do the App State Hillbillies deserve a national championship/

^^^

You and your hillbilly jokes. Where do you come up with them, they're just the cutting edge of comedy...

IIRC, App. State has won the 1-AA national championship the last two years.

Since most of the UM fans on this board are cool, I'm not going to say much. Other than that this weekend could turn out to be the perfect weekend of college football for me. Consider:

GVSU (my undergrad alma mater) won.

MSU (my law alma mater) won.

Rutgers (fiancee's alma mater) won.

UM lost.

All I need is Notre Dame to lose...

LMAO! Unbelievable!

With Michigan's season being over, you might as well get something out of it and play Ryan Mallett. Perhaps split time with Henne, like Brady/Henson, you have to already start thinking about next year. Might as well get him some experience now since the season is totally shot.

I'm not upset about Michigan's loss for two reasons.

1. I didn't get to watch the game, which saved me the agony of the blank look on Carr's face as he inevitably screwed up in a close game (Thank You Big Ten Network!)

2. This should help us finally get rid of Carr

I'd love to hear the Carr sympathizers argument now. Let's see, he can't beat his arch rival, he can't win a bowl game, and now he can't even beat a 1-AA opponent (even if they are a good one, that's still ridiculous).

It's not like any true Michigan fan that's remotely realistic really expected them to beat Ohio State and win the National Championship. That will never happen under Carr. Trust me, it's better this way.

Well, 10 years ago, Ohio State couldn't beat Michigan and the Wolverines were national champs with Carr at the helm.... just to be fair.

<--- Doesn't like our odds against McNeese State.

*Looks for a ledge*

Go Cowboys! Straight from Lake Charles in SW Louisiana!

Shocked I am at this development. Just as shocked when my school lost to a I-AA program, Northwestern State from central Louisiana in 2001. Coincidentally, it was also to a blocked FG to win the game as well. Northwestern State's also a respectable I-AA program, but not close to App. State's level and I don't think they've won a championship there in the I-AA level. While I didn't think we were going to win that game by 45, NSU wasn't going to just roll over and die, there was no logical reason we should have lost that game.

Nothing good ever comes out of playing I-AA teams. Nothing.

And might I add, I have had a queasy feeling all summer about all this hype Michigan's been getting. No defense.

And to make matters worse, my 'Hoos got destroyed by Wyoming. 23-3. So much for college football. I'm gonna go curl up in a corner and wait for basketball and hockey season to start. Somehow I don't really expect the Lions to help much.

Respectable season? What respectable season? We lost to Appalachian State. All respect is gone from this season.

There's only one thing that can return respectability to this season, and we have to wait til the very end for it.

How does Georgia Tech 33, Notre Dame 3 sound. By the way it was great to see Dantonio's era begin with a success and have the reserves get some quality playing time.

GO Mountaineers GO!

You had full support from State fans.

The entire campus erupted with cheers when we heard that the feild goal was blocked, all most all of the tail gate partys the game on the radio and a few had it on tv.

I was at the App State game. It feels like I was hit by a semi-truck. I have no words to explain this or no excuses. App State is explosive, but still most of U-M's 3rd stringers would start there. It's too bad, and embarasing. I said this game would be close, but I didn't think it would be that close. By the way this is my first time being at the Big House when they lose (I was 17-0)...never thought it would happen today.

By the way whoever said U-M should play Mallett is an idiot.

WOW!!

Never saw this loss coming, as sure as everyone else. While I have a lot of Michigan fans in here, I will spare the piling on and just say don't jump off the ledge. The season is not over, just your national championship hopes.

Why? Michigan State won convincingly

Not to pile on the Michigan fans, but you guys paid App. State $400,000 to end your national championship hopes.

I know the immediate reaction is to fire Carr, but his job can't seriously be in jeopardy, can it? I've always been under the impression that he's been around long enough he'll get to go out on his terms.

Yes Carr has been upsetting alot of alumni with his bowl record and recent records against ND and that silly tree school to the south.

Have faith though, the big ten could still be had. Also, to make people feel better, one loss early doesn't kill national title hopes most of the time. However, with that said... App. State?!?! it could be a long season.

I'm almost certain that the best Michigan can hope for is the Rose Bowl. People won't forget they lost to a D-1AA team. I still can't believe it.

Last night I texted my Michigan friend that Appalachian State would win 34-33...I was off by one point. I never thought it would actually happen, though I did think Appalachian State would make it a better game than most UM fans would think, but wow.

And why is that? Henne just had a s***ty game against a division II school, with a costly interception. Im sorry he's not the golden boy you may have thought he was. The only way to salvage this season is by getting Mallett some time now. Best way to get people to overcome the devastation as soon as possible is by getting them excited for the future. Thats Mallett. Am i saying completely replace Henne with him? No! Im just saying give him a share of drives like they did previously with Henson, as at this point with national title hopes gone it cant hurt. Better to get him some experience now.

Yes you are right. Carr can leave whenever he wants, but I really believe this is the last season. He has dropped to many hints about it such as his contract being fixed, and how he wants to go out with a 'special' senior class. I know the 3 main seniors haven't had success in the big time games (OSU/Bowl), but I know Carr loves all 3 of them. Plus add this lose, the pressure, and many kids getting into trouble (which he used have a pretty good handle on) I think he is getting sick of it. Thankfully after today I think it's safe to say Mike Debord ran himself out of town as the next possible head coach. Carr wants him bad, but Bill Martin wants nothing to do with him. Martin can use this game, and USC game to defend his position.

Even if U-M wins out they will not be considered for the Nati. Losing to a I-AA school will do that to you. The only hope is the Rose Bowl.

In this case though, it does. They would never be put ahead any other 1 loss team, nor would they any 2 loss team imo. Its over. No way in a million years would they risk having a national champion that lost to a division II school..

I agree having Mallett getting reps is very key, but Henne is miles ahead of Mallett in terms of the playbook, and experience. Most drafts sites have Henne going first round (not if he plays like he did today the rest of the season). Why would you take a true freshmen QB over a possible 1/2nd round NFL prospect? I know Mallett was the cream of the crop in HS, but college football is a whole new ball game.

First ranked 1-A team to ever lose to a 1-AA team? Yes, you can and should lose your job if you're that coach.

Good start for my alma mater. Wasn't really that pretty or entertaining, but they put a good business-like performance shutting out Baylor 27-0. I'll take it. Defense played very well despite not having their best stud Tommy Blake, although they were helped out by Baylor missing two short dinky field goals. TCU had a new QB to groom in his first ever start, and other than fumbling once around the goaline early, he played very well, completeing about 60% of his passes and about 200 yards.

Can't wait to be in Austin next weekend for our game at Texas. We have an outside chance of winning, but I'm not expecting a win. If we do though somehow, I will be doing backflips.

This Cal-Tennessee game has been pretty damn entertaining so far.

I agree about Cal-Tennessee.

I'm not counting out TCU, I remember what they did to Oklahoma a few years back.
