Notre Dame hasn't beaten Michigan State in South Bend since 1993 when George Perles was running the Spartans. :yowza:

I'm well aware of that fact. I didn't state that as a knock against Michigan State, but just a realistic look at ND's schedule. MSU appears to be the "weakest" and most beatable opponent in Notre Dame's first eight games. This doesn't mean MSU is weak, it just means that Purdue, UCLA, Boston College, and USC are all guaranteed losses at this point.

Notre Dame still has to find offense in order to compete. The Irish probably wont get a win until they play Navy.

I don't think that win will be enough to get MSU in the top 25.

I'm an alum so I like to see MSU do well, but they don't deserve a top 25 ranking until they win a few games against Big 10 opponents.

Agreed.

They are getting votes though, which is a step in the right direction. [/quote

I think they will get enough votes and sneak in, especially if they dominate the game. This would be good for your guys program. What your coach has done is really amazing. I mean John L didn't leave him with a top ten team and they are having a good season so far. I think your chances are good this weekend. Because from what I am hearing, ND is imploding from within. Coaches are arguing amongst themselves and alumni are totally pissed-off. The should be a great test for MSU, ND's backs are against the wall and they should come out fighting.

I didn't watch much of it last night, but from what I saw....damn....Oklahoma is pretty scary. They've shown so far that they are a legit top-5 team. I know Tulsa isn't a world-beater, but they are far from a pushover and starting midway in the 2nd quarter Oklahoma just completely took over.

I hope both state schools in Michigan win today.

And I hope like crazy that my school can rebound to even their record at 2-2, or many of my school fans will be on major suicide watch, given the high expectations of my school this season (much like Michigan). The opponent is SMU. They got a decent QB so if they can contain him, shouldn't be a problem, b/c SMU's defense so far has been horrible (though my school can't finish drives for anything once they get in the red zone on offense  ).

Not gonna lie, I'm nervous about today's game. This is a game that MSU has absolutely no business losing. So as a MSU fan, I've been conditioned to know that these are the type of games MSU finds a way to lose.

I agree this is definitely one of those scare games. You almost feel like if MSU doesnt win by blowout and the game is within 10, that they'll probably lose. I'll go with the blowout though!

MSU - 44

ND - 14

Penn St - 38

Michigan - 24

If Michigan gets this win, I wonder if they possibly sneak back into the top 25? I doubt it. But I know they will get some respect back. I very well might have my Michigan blinders on, but I think Michigan wins today. I'll say 28-23. Hail to the victors!

I don't think a win over #10 is enough to erase the embarassments against ASU and Oregon in the eyes of the voters. I know it wouldn't be enough for me to put Michigan back in my top 25 if I had a vote. They're going to need to run off a few more in a row to get back in there.

I think they can win today. PSU is 3-0 but they've played three of the absolute worst teams in D-1A. Quite honestly, we don't know a damn thing about either team except for the fact that Michigan can't stop a mobile QB or a spread offense, neither of which PSU has.

I wish we had Henne for this one, but if they can give Mallett time, we should be ok. I expect them to ride Hart again, and that's never a bad thing as long as he doesn't get dinged. They should also be able to get after Morelli.

The best part is if we win today, we get to hear all the conspiracy theories come out from the PSU fans again, which is always a trip. I love those guys.

IMO Michigan has to get to at least 5-2 before they sniff the top 25 again.

No way in hell. They'll get votes by beating PSU, but that's it.

nice win for both Michigan and Michigan State.

Michigan OWNS Penn State

Michigan State OWNS South Bend.

I know exactly how you feel. I honestly fear the game against Indiana more than Michigan, even tho Michigan is way better.

What a win! I had a feeling we we're getting the "W" today. Mallett just continues to shine. And Mike Hart shows why he's the captain. Great defensive showing by the Wolverines as well. Just an all around great team effort. I said it before the game, and now I'll say it again, Hail to the Victors baby!!!
