datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 s***ty loss. at least we got the point. i was so pissed after that datsyuk goal was whistled dead!!! bulls***!!! i know it's only two games in, but i'm starting to get scared that we're a team with basically two top six forwards. i hope holland is paying attention. on the bright side, rafalski makes our pp deadly. what a great addition. other than a few things he's looked great so far. the games was so much more fun to watch the few times z and dats overlapped on shifts or were on the pp together. it's becoming evident that nobody else in the top six has the skill to hang with these two. especially sammy. every shift it seems they do all this work to gain the blue line or keep it in or something only to pass it to somebody who just bobbles the puck for a few seconds and then turns it over. hollands needs to get somebody to center the second line so we can have the zdh line up front. my two cents

96warrior 11 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 From the Detroit Free Press this morning: Franzen suffered an injured right knee in the second period and did not return. The injury happened after Datsyuk tripped Tuomo Ruutu with his stick. Ruutu fell into Franzen, who was helped off the ice. Franzen said he didn't think it was a season-ending injury, but he'll have tests today to determine the severity of the injury.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) s***ty loss. at least we got the point. Is that sarcasm? Agreed...However after watching these past 2 games it does appear we need a legit scoring winger 'cause I'm skeptical of what Sammy, & Hoodlum will bring...Maybe Babs needs to go back to the Homer/Dats/Hank line Hey man,we've been told that Hudler will score 30+ goals so don't panic. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 So the first line is Hudler-Datsyuk-Samuelsson? That really scares me...
96warrior 11 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 From the Red Wings Corner blog: Johan Franzen left Saturday's game in Chicago with an injured right knee after Tuomo Ruutu fell on him. Franzen will have an MRI Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. After the game, Franzen was limping slightly. He compared the injury to what happened to his left knee last season when Willie Mitchell knocked him out with a late hit. That injury (to his left knee) kept Franzen out of nine games last season. "I had almost the same kind of thing last year ... (but) that was worse," said Franzen. "It's OK right now. It hurts a little bit right now, but I've got pain-killers." Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 My guess is a MCL sprain/tear, & possibly a patella dislocation. No no no! That is not a quick recovery injury. From the Red Wings Corner blog: Johan Franzen left Saturday's game in Chicago with an injured right knee after Tuomo Ruutu fell on him. Franzen will have an MRI Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. After the game, Franzen was limping slightly. "I had almost the same kind of thing last year ... (but) that was worse," said Franzen. "It's OK right now. It hurts a little bit right now, but I've got pain-killers." The problem is that most injuries show their true colours after some time as lapsed. I'd feel more comfort if he'd said that 2 days from now... *crosses his fingers for the MRI results*

ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 wow all these people so scared, does anyone even remember how we looked at the begining of the season last year? WE are much improved in every aspect of our game this year, YES even toughness has improved. I agree we still have a few elements that need to be taken care of but come on
theman19 47 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 i saw a lot more rational reactions after we lost 8-2 against the ducks last year. Relax people it's one game.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Missed the game last night, but DVR'd it. It's only the second game, and not a big deal -- not as if it was a huge upset and they played like crap. The effort wasn't what it could have been, but it wasn't that bad. This type of game is going to continue to happen in the new NHL. Factors against the Wings included losing Mule to injury, and the disallowed goal for Pav. Not saying the refs stole the game, but they weren't much help. And, I think the Wings didn't take into account the motivation for the 'Hawks... playing for Wirtz, Lang "proving a point" to his old team, Cheli and Dom being former 'Hawks players (not that they paid much attention to Dom until after he was gone). This is not your last year's Hawks, even missing Havlat... and what a surprise that is; he's already hurt. This wasn't a "statement" game unless you're a Blackhawk fan. And even then, that's reaching a bit, IMO. I am most worried about Mule. We really need him, but that is a statement on my part, I guess, that I worry about our depth with him gone if it's for very long. I suppose it's too early to be too concerned about not making the playoffs, right? I am just kidding on the last statement, before anyone freaks, OK? For anyone worried about Dom, don't be. He tends to start slow, and even with that fact, he's already won one shoot out and the goals last night were not bloopers, they were great shots. He was stellar in the third. We will be fine. Next?? redwashington2000 42 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Poor performanse yesterday The overrated players are: Samuelsson, Hudler, Kopecky. Samuelsson has no idea what to do with the puck. Hudler, keep him for penalty shots only, he has Dats size but men is he pushed around or what? Kopecky big useless body I never heard his name yesterday. And this is the future of the wings. Trade Hudler and Sami.

Mors 201 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Samuelsson just infuriates me every time he's on the ice...in his mind he seems to think he's datsyuk and that he can just dance all over the ice, but when it comes to actually doing ANYTHING with the puck other than blast it High & Wide he rarely comes through...it's frustrating as hell to watch. You mean you're not impressed by those spin-around moves where he takes the puck on his backhand and then turns it over on the blue line? Maybe Babcock needs to put him back on the point to boost his confidence.
