96Homer 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 It makes me wonder how everyone feels about Lang now. The fact that he has beaten us twice and we seem to have a new problem with Chicago. Just wondering about everyone's opinions. I know most people on here didn't like Lang, but what about now being that he is taking it to us with these past two games. Thought this would make for a good discussion.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 NO, just like i dont regret giving up Joey Harrington (or Artose Pinner!) Just because someone comes back and plays good against you doesnt mean you shouldve kept him.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 He just wasn't a good fit in Detroit...he played some good hockey but he also took alot of nights off. I like Lang and hope he has a good year(except against us) but it was time for him to move on!!
Lollipop 8 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) I don't regret it...he had this superstar mentality and thought he needed to put in only so much effort and he'd get top line minutes...now that he's on Chicago, he has something to prove I think, which explains his sudden burst of productivity. If he'd have remained with us, I don't think he would have ever put in any kind of serious contribution...he'd always have the whole "I'm Robert F***ing Lang" attitude and continue being lazy and useless. Good for him if he does well in Chicago, though. EDIT: As soon as Photoshop is re-installed, I swear I'm changing my avatar and signature. >< Edited October 13, 2007 by Lollipop
96Homer 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 I guess I would agree also, I mean in the playoffs last year he only scored what 2 goals. Maybe now that he got 2 goals against us he can lay off and have a good year in Chicago but like you all say not against us anymore

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 He was a lazy, 60 point guy here. For some reason in Chicago he's this energetic guy, who could get 70 points. Do I want him back? Hell no, but do I wish he had tried like this when he was here, sure do.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 OK, I'll be the oddball here. Yes, I miss Lang. I didn't want him to go. My dad really didn't. He's been a Wings fan since the 40's and he is almost happy for Robert. I hope he does well there, but I hope we beat them the next times we play them. He can have a goal or two, just so long as it isn't a tying or winning one. If he read these boards, I don't blame him for coming out strong. For what it's worth, my hamster, Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert, was gleeful when I told him about Robert scoring. I think he's behind it.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 i'm sure lang gets up more the detroit games than any others at this point. all his points have come against us. i watched the san jose chicago game a few nights ago and lang looked like his usual turnover self. i had nothing personal against the guy, i felt bad for him, but i'm glad he's not on the team. that said, he gave us 50 to 60 points a year and we've got to find a way to make that up. i doubt it's hudler. lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 no ... but the real question is do the blackhawks miss robert lang? whoever that was wearing the lang jersey last night, it sure as hell wasn't old bobby ... last night #20 was forechecking! and skating! and showed interest! the real bobby lang doesn't do these things! where could he be?? Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted October 13, 2007 Definitely not. I knew he would flourish more with a team where he is relied on more for scoring. Langer just didnt fit as well with our squad. I fully expected Lang to have a much better offensive year with the hawks. I sure dont want him back though.
kylee 727 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 im a big Lang fan, but to be fair, he did look A LOT different than he did for most of the time when he played with the Wings. if Lang keeps up with his forecheck i think he seriously could reach 80 points in chicago. and id love to see it. i was just wishing that "do lang" got a spin at the Joe last night on "accident"

lfd250 1 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 No not at all. Everyone gets lucky. Heck yesterday was the first time Chicago scored on the PP. We really shouldn't be looking until later in the year. Beisdes that is why Chicago wanted him, they needed a scorer. Now they're getting one. You should be asking why didn't he take Lilja with him.
bcwingsfan19 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 I am a Lang fan also and was very sad to see him go, but I agree with most people that he just wasn't a good fit in Detroit. Hopefully he'll have a good season in Chicago!

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 No. Lang hasn't proven anything that he deserves to be back on this team. Just because he scored against in two meaningless regular season games in October doesn't mean I want him back. He hasn't done s*** in the other two games against Minnesota and San Jose, and he probably won't do s*** in any other game this season not involving the Wings. NO, just like i dont regret giving up Joey Harrington (or Artose Pinner!) Just because someone comes back and plays good against you doesnt mean you shouldve kept him. Good comparison. Harrington may have ripped through the Lions defense (which isn't that hard of a feat to accomplish), but the Dolphins were miles out of the playoffs last season. Harrington hasn't been any better for the Falcons this season, who continue to underachieve in every form possible. Just because said player does well against his former team doesn't mean I will ever want him back. Now, if Lang rips the league apart and wins the Hart Trophy this year, then yes, I probably would want him back. But no way in a million years will that ever happen. Over half of his goals this season will probably come against the Wings, because that'll be his only motivation. To prove the Wings wrong. In contrast, I'm happy as a clam that Lang is gone. Sure, we don't get to do the "Lang is lazy and he sucks" thing anymore, but it's nice not having an albatross clog up the 2nd line center spot.

mark the red 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 The reason for your question, is the exact reasom so many Red Wing fams were frustrated with lLang. He can do it whenever hr wanted. While here, he didn't perform up to capabiliies very often.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) No, I don't regret the Wings getting rid of him. He never fit well here, and his play had gone downhill each season. But if the Wings are gonna lose to Chicago, I'm glad it's at the hands of Robert Lang. To shut up all the idiots here who made it sound like he didn't even deserve to play beer league hockey. EDIT: and on a sidenote about Lou's post, Thank f-ing god Harrington is gone. Though I don't think Harrington is a good analogy with Lang. Joey was much more detrimental to his team than Bobby was. Just wondering about everyone's opinions. I know most people on here didn't like Lang, but what about now being that he is taking it to us with these past two games. Im sure he will play harder just to stick it to Babcock. For what it's worth, my hamster, Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert, was gleeful when I told him about Robert scoring. I think he's behind it. Just for that, your hamster will be sent down to the ECHL.
