GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I like the red sweaters at home but I also like seeing the other team's colors, like Ken said during tonight's game. Otherwise it's just an endless parade of white sweaters on the opposite team. So, my vote goes for WHITE. Agree, and for the same reason.

Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Maybe it's my assoiciation with the '97 Cup win in Detroit with the white jerseys, but I gotta go with white all the way for home. When they switched to dark colors being home I almost wondered if it was another "fan friendly move" to keep casual fans from being confused (NFL -darks are home- I have no idea about the NBA though...) I also think the white jersey looks better.
Wing-in-avs-town 123 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 NBA and MLB are both white @ home, although baseball sometimes uses a 3rd jersey, which is dark.
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 already been mentioned, but I like white jerseys at home. That way you get to see all of the other colors from the league. Otherwise it's always Blue (preds) vs white, every game...

Hockey Junkie 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Gotta go with Red on this one. It makes more sense to me to wear your primary colors at home. Although, some team’s color schemes don’t have as literal of a connection to their team name or mascot as do the Red Wings. And it can get boring I suppose to see every opposing team at the Joe in the same color. Either way, white or red, they’re the best team in hockey to watch. Expect a switch back after a few years so the NHL can sell more jerseys anyways.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 White or light colors are associated with protagonism, whereas darker colors are often associated with antagonism. White should be the home jerseys because the home team is the protagonist of the building, and dark colors should be on away jerseys because they are the antagonist to the city/building they're playing in. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 red at home. its more traditional than the white at home tradition. Thank you. I'm pretty sure that red was the "traditional" home color long before it switched to white.
Guest jaytan Report post Posted November 9, 2007 This one's a no-brainer. The white jerseys are much better than the bland red ones, and add in the fact that fans would get to see a lot more variety at home games throughout the year if the home team wore white and it's an obvious choice. Instead of red v. white 40 times a year, you'd get white v. navy 30 times a year and white v. red, black or green a couple times as well.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) If anyone's interested, the NHL used to have the home team wear the dark jerseys (sweaters) until a rule change in 1970, which switched the home team to white. The idea being to introduce more color to the game with the visiting teams wearing their colored dark jerseys (sweaters) each night. http://proicehockey.about.com/cs/businesso...erseycolors.htm I personally prefer red at home just because I think it's a better looking jersey (sweater). Since I don't live in Detroit and don't go to games anymore though, I probably should be voting for the dark jerseys (sweaters) when they're away. EDITED to include old school translation. For me though, I don't like the idea of the visiting team "out coloring" the Red Wings so to speak. Basically, it's an exhibition of the visiting teams colors not the home team. Which I don't agree with. So I have to go with Red. Edited November 9, 2007 by rick zombo
Tane 17 Report post Posted November 9, 2007 Whites. Even after what? 3 years of the jerseys being reversed, It's still not right to me. I see White, I still think Home. I also Like seeing the other teams in their Dark Jerseys. In general, I like the Whites to be at home, but 1 on 1, I like the Red Jerseys better
