Other than the loss of Hossa, how are we worse?

-Crosby is playing better

-Malkin is playing better

-Our defense is much better ( Scuderi and Eaton and Orpik are all playing well)

- Better coaching

- Fleury is the same....makes highlight reel saves, and lets in bad goals

-Kunitz and Guerin playing solid hockey

-Loss of Hossa

How are the Red Wings better?

-Holmstrom playing worse

-Datsyuk...playing good but not producing

-Osgood- no better, no worse

-Loss of Lilja

Yea, Orpik is really tearing them apart, with a -2, Gonchar being only +2 Scuderi being +3, the only person on that list that Id say is doing wll is Eaton, but if im not mistaken hes always playing point when Crosby is on the ice and its hard to screw that up in the +/- area. As for Malkin and Crosby, their lines are putting up most of the pens' points, they have yet to come up against either a shutdown D pairing or a shutdown line that are in the same league as what Detroit has. Again its not just Lids/Rafi Stuie/Kronner you have to worry about shutting down the top 2 lines of the Pens its also Zetterberg and Datsyuk and Flip and Franzen. Our third line is a world above yours (Featuring Helm/Huds/Sammy) and your team doesn't have a fourth line, its just Crosby/Malkin+the leftovers. Fluery is not playing nearly as well as he was last season, hes letting in a lot of soft goals, I know hes getting some highlight reel stops some games, but, those aren't the ones that kill teams when they go in, its the bread and butter 'he should have had that one' that are the killers.

Bulls***. You are selectively picking out stats to make your point and ignoring others.

Happens in just about every argument that is based on "stats".

Check this out. This Pens fan is really funny. Here's why:

look no one is going to bow down to the mighty red wings. that's what you all want, right? it's as if no other team in the NHL even exists.

That's why I joined the Penguins message forums... Oh wait!. I am confused, you're on OUR board. So we are looking for you to bow down? Gee, you'd think if this was true, I'd be on your message board talking shyt like you are doing here. Perhaps it's YOU who wants people to "bow down" to YOUR team. After all, you came here, we didn't go to you.

too bad you people can't make cars the way you trash talk.

Perfect example of a person who is insecure about his team. When you know your team is vulnerable against a solid team that constantly owns yours, change tactics and attack the city or economic misfortunes. Stay classy Pens fan.

you want the cup - you'll have to beat us for it....that is if you make it. but of course quenville is a retard and the hawks have no goaltending so that shouldn't be an issue.

We have to beat YOU for it? Lol! Really? Last time I checked, the Red Wings are the Championship team, not the penguins. Or wait, did you see that NHL TV commercial that misleads people to think Pens won the cup? Well, it's not true... Detroit Red Wings are the champs, they OWNED you. Your team failed!

But that is *IF* we make it to the SCF... but wait, Pens already made it to the SCF??? Last time I checked, they only won 3 games. That would mean Pens need 1 more win just like the Detroit Red Wings. So basically you think your team is cleared to make the finals while Detroit may not?

Are you on some type of medication?

Bulls***. You are selectively picking out stats to make your point and ignoring others.

Malkin has 28 points and Crosby has 26, nobody else has more than 13. Yea there are 4 other guys that have 10 or more but Malkin and Crosby combined have 33.3% of the teams points.

Nobody on the Wings has more than 19. Our top two scorers account for only 24% of the teams points.

The Pens live and die for scoring by these 2 guys.

who cares? is it malkin and crosby' fault that your two top scorers zetterberg and franzen suck in comparison? scoring depth is scoring depth. this means they are getting contributions from a lot of their players. i never said that the scoring is balanced - that's a different story. some of you guys are saying we are a one line team - i am merely pointing out that we are not.

Short memory is short. Zetterberg and Datsyuk don't *need* to score lots of goals to shut down Malkin and Cindy. Red Wings have LOTS of players who are more than willing (and capable) of putting lots of pucks behind Fleury. Who's going to score for the Penguins? Sure... You have a couple scrubs who might get a lucky bounce. I'll give you that.

I might as well have stopped reading there.

Our top two scorers absolutely dominated your top two scorers the last time they went head-to-head in the playoffs. Bring it on.

I like that talk!! So true!!

Yeah you know Franzen just has the most playoffs goals in the last 2 years and is nearly averaging a goal a game but yeah he sucks.

Zetterberg is the best two-way player in the playoffs and has the ability to shutdown offense and create offense during the same shift but of course you have Evgeni "Amazing Backchecker" Malkin right?

Let's just hope Fleury doesn't fall on his face this year out of the gates.

According to these Pens fans, last year doesn't matter. Current playoff defense stats mean nothing. Depth stats mean nothing. Goals Against and Goals For means nothing.

The only thing that matters is the two top scorers and points producers is ALL THAT MATTERS. I guess we should be scared? Two kids who can score doesn't scare me at all. Perry and Getzlaf (best line in the league) didn't scare me. What does scare me is top notch tight defense and solid goaltending, that scares the hell out of me. Fortunately (if the Wings play Pens), they don't have either. They just have a couple guys who can score. But they won't produce much when they get shut down.

no one plays hockey on paper. and the series was close last year if you take away the first 2 games in which the inexperience factor played a big role. bottom line is you guys were good last year but not great. by how y'all talk, you should have swept the "inferior" pens or at least won in 5.

and when we got to our first final (for the current team) we didn't choke like you did against the devils. that was perhaps the biggest choke job in all of sports.

remember the yanks lost in 01 to the inferior d-backs and again to the marlins. the pats lost to the giants. it can happen this year too.

That Cup was won after a shortened season. West didn't even play against the East during the regular season. In my opinion, winning the Cup that season isn't a huge statement, regardless of who won it.

On a side note, I noticed you can't help but play the "make more cars" comment. FYI, when we see a poster make a remark like that, we see it as a sign of desperation. Try and be better than that. I've been to Pittsburgh many, many times (you ever been to Detroit? Seriously doubt it). Yet you will never see me bring up what a stinking cesspool it is. It's completely irrelevant.

You're on the largest Red Wings forum on the net, and you're shocked as to why the members of this forum think the Pens won't win the cup and the Wings will? Might as well go on a Cavs forum and state how much better Kobe is than Lebron or go to a Red Sox forum and assert how much better the Yankees are than the Red Sox.

You allowed to get yourself caught up in the Penguin trolls and the Red Wing posters who enjoy feeding the trolls. You're at a very important impass on your LGW.com future. Keep feeding the trolls or just stop and pick and choose where and what to post until you gain some "cred" ala Duck Guy, who is one of the most revered posters on this forum.

stfu you stupid ******* clearly thats not what his intent was.

The Wings have way more depth than the Pens.

The fact that we made it this far in the playoffs without getting good production from Datsyuk or Hossa (our 2 best forwards in the regular season), shows that the Wings are a deeper team.

If the Pens best players struggle like that, their team is finished.

The problem with this whole thread is that it's a recycling of the same ideas that last year's Pens fans made. They are overconfident, even though their team hasn't won anything yet, other than the whopping Prince of Wales trophy.

I could swear that Pens fans either don't remember or don't want to admit that they lost to the Wings last year. They're actually buying into those Versus commercials showing them beating us last year. What morons.

As someone that has to deal with Pens fans all year long, I can tell you from experience that they don't have respect for the Wings and the way they talk, you'd think the Pens won the Cup last year. They're making the same arguments as last year, "We have the two best players in the world, we're gonna win." Its lame and it shows a severe lack of hockey knowledge.

Now don't get me wrong not ALL Pens fans are like this, but there's a lot of them (ones that'll be on this board) that think hockey season starts in Feb (after the Steelers) and know NOTHING about hockey and get pissed when you tell them they're wrong. Its just the way it is. At least in a month, you won't have to deal with them, while I'll have to deal with them year round. Fun fun lol

dude... you should care... if malkin and crosby are your bread and butter look out when they get shut down.. and it will happen.. it happens to everyone that plays Detroit... The thing here is that Detroit gets scoring from EVERYONE .. say it with me.. ev-ery-one... not just Franzen, not just Zetterberg, Datsuyk or Hossa or Hudler even. If you don't care that Detroit is very likely to render your scoring players irrelevant then why are you hear barking about a Pens victory that will likely never come to fruition? I'll tell you something... if we meet in the finals and Malkin and Crosby get shut down... your Pens are toast.

Yeah the refs are all just trying to win the Pens a cup. Jeez, same old, same old. It's not that the Pens are good. It's just that the refs are conpsiring for the Pens.

Yep even writers in Canada thought so :D

"Officials tipped toward Pens' favour in final

Tony Gallagher, Canwest News Service Published: Sunday, June 08, 2008

VANCOUVER -- Now that the Stanley Cup has been awarded to the Detroit Red Wings and any emotion from any one particular game has faded, we would be remiss if we didn't seriously ask some questions about what actually took place in that final series with respect to the officiating.

Having been around the NHL pretty much since the dawn of man, I have watched a lot of games and have seen a lot of good and bad calls by good and bad referees, and I rarely address this topic.

By and large the NHL officials are outstanding individuals whom any corporation would be thrilled to have represent them in almost any situation.

When the way the game was officiated swung back and forth in pendulum fashion over the years, you knew that these guys were always just doing what they were instructed to do by the New York office.

And when the most important games were played, the most experienced, senior officials were front and centre.

And even though the referees of the day would frequently call virtually nothing once the third period began and the game moved into overtime, there was never any sense of anything fishy.

The breaks involved in officials' judgments always seen to balance out over a series of games. There was no such feeling at this year's final.

While nobody really wanted to say so, how could you have possibly watched the calls in that series and not had the feeling that somehow, consciously or more likely unconsciously, there was a slant toward favouring the Pittsburgh Penguins?

While it seemed to be prevalent most of the series, at times to a far lesser extent, the final 20 seconds of Game 6 illustrated the problem perfectly.

With Detroit just having given up a power-play goal that allowed Pittsburgh to get to within 3-2 with under two minutes to go, the Pens had their goalie out and the Wings under siege.

But with about 18 seconds left, Pavel Datsyuk of the Wings managed to skate free with the puck, skate it out over the blue-line, but as he readied a shot toward the open net, he was hauled down with an abundantly obvious stick foul so blatant that Helen Keller would have been forced to raise her arm.

No call.

Pittsburgh then got the puck, stormed the other end and nearly tied the game in the last second.

This call wasn't missed. There is absolutely no conceivable way it could have been missed.

But the officials chose not to end the Penguins' season. In fact, for the first time in all my years of viewing hockey, I was overwhelmed by a sense that there existed a desperate need to keep this series going for the good of the game, no matter how far rule interpretations had to be stretched.

The most difficult part came once the series began to gain momentum and it became abundantly obvious the television ratings in the U.S. were building with every game and the league was sending out press releases to one and all that this was the case.

That's when things began to get a touch malodorous. With Detroit leading 2-1 in the third period of Game 4, the 1:26 of five-on-three time awarded Pittsburgh comes to mind.

In OT of Game 5, with the series a goal away from extinction, the two goalie interference calls that had Detroit head coach Mike Babcock steamed enough he felt compelled to complain to the media the following day didn't seem to pass the smell test.

There was Dallas Drake's charging penalty when in fact he was scarcely moving and barely made contact. The fact that one team had virtually all the five-on-three time, often for extended periods, was troubling.

And then there was the Datsyuk no-call, one that would have set off an absolute firestorm for hockey had the Pens sent it to overtime.

Of 10 experienced media types consulted about the officiating after the series, not one said they thought it was all right.

The responses of most can be summed up with a simple head shake and the response "not good."

Much has been made by some of the fact that the league didn't seem to use the most experienced people, but instead those who were vigilant about calling the touch stick fouls that have improved the game. And that may have been a factor. But the fact remains the officials who were used are generally very good at their craft.

Sorry, but there was something just not right about the way that series went down.

I'm not getting into this crap now and even later I hope I have enough sense to only respond to the reasonable, mature fans who show up here. Just as I would expect them to do when some of our idiots go to their boards.

But I will make a prediction. If we end up playing the Pens, it's our defense that will be a major factor. And I'm not talking just Lidstrom and the boyz. Every Wing is trained to play both ways. I don't see a lot of that happening in the Eastern conference.

I'm very confused by this personal attack. All I was stating is that C77 can be like you, SidTheKid and EMALKIN and be trolls on this forum, which you clearly have demonstrated your intentions towards me at least to be a troll, or he can be like Duck Guy and a couple other of the posters here whose main team is not the Red Wings.
