Make the Trade!

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Players with NTC (Stuart, mainly) are the best option to trade without trading a young player with many good years ahead of him.

The biggest problem with an NTC is making it the RIGHT trade so that the player actually waives the NTC.

But here's an interesting thought.

Offer Stuart to Edmonton for Jean-Francois Jacques and one of Taylor Chorney, Ladislav Smid, or even a 2nd rounder (a 1st rounder if they are willing).

Stuart is from halfway between Edmonton and Calgary, so he might be perfectly willing to go for that deal. Stuart's salary is the biggest block between the Wings and retaining Hossa, and Stuart was our worst defenseman in the playoffs, especially in the finals.

False. He was the worst defenceman in Game 7, he was our best defenceman against Anaheim playing 25+ minutes a night. I'd rather not deal him.

Here's my plan: Trade Hossa's rights, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, and Mike Babcock for Heatley, Martin Gerber, Ottawa's Lion Mascot, and a half-eaten bagel. That will clear up cap room to sign Neil for 22 years at a Cap Hit of 26.7 million a year. This may seem high, but remember, Neil fights, and as anyone on LGW will tell you: fighting=Stanley Cup. Then, trade the bagel and the rights to Hossa (which we stole back) for Alex Ovechkin. To finish off the roster, sign Ohlund and Sundin to one year contracts. They're both old, so obviously that means they'll be the next Dallas Drake. Let Hudler walk for the next seven #1 picks and trade Filpulla and Holmstrom (just because it's obvious we HAVE to).

Here's our lines next year:

Heatley-Franzen-Leino

Ovechkin-Ovechkin-Ovechkin

Helm-Abdelkader-Neil

Sundin-Draper-Ottawa's Lion

Ohlund-Ericsson

Kronwall-Stuart

RedFX-Lebda

Howard

Small piece of furniture

There's ABSOLUTELY no way this can go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

From my limited information about contract negotiating for professional athletes, (since I lack the talent of of the kids that shovel off the ice during stoppages) NTC are usually asked for by the player and not offered by the franchise. Players aren't all about waiving them to get away from teams that are perennial contenders. If the Wings could get Stuart's salary off of the books, signing Hossa would be relatively easy. I don't think that he will take a trade just to be a nice guy and help out what would be his former team to move his family across the continent again.

Stuart turned down Calgary to re-sign with us. They offered more, but he didn't want his step-daughter to have to go through customs to see her dad in California. Even though he is from Canada, he thought it in the best interest of his step-daughter to remain in the US until she was an adult, hence his NTC.

Says a lot for the guy, if you ask me.

I remember this because I got in an arguement with my dad. I had said Stuart turned down the Flames because he wanted to stay in the US, and dad argued that the Flames were a US team. It was the first sign that he was starting to go downhill mentally. I had to remind him that the Thrashers were now in Atlanta.

If we're looking to trade Stuart, we need to offer him an American team, preferably one out west.

As for the original post: um, it was, um.....original.

lol nice post Red you and LEbda would own face out there

RedFX is the next great D Man yo heard it here first lol

but as to your trade NO

i personally think the wings need to sign some MMA fighters for there 4th line

Couture (sp?)-Kimbo Slice-Ken Shamrock then at least we wouldnt get pushed around by the Ducks anymore

just thinking about Perry the Fairy getting rocked by Couture makes me laugh

and while were at it lets sign a Sumo to play goalie and get a chimp astronaut to be our coach, then we bring in George W to be our GM

Ok, so we trade him Washington for the rights to Eric Fehr, Sergei Fedorov, and a 2nd rounder...

Or, we trade him to Colorado for T.J. Hensick.

Or, my favorite, Stuart and maybe a 3rd rounder to Phoenix for Chris Summers

Did you?

Did you watch Stuarts' mistakes end up in the Wings net TWICE in game seven?

Did you watch any of the other games where Stuarts mistakes ended up in the back of the net?

Seriously, how the hell do you 'Stuart Defenders' just consistently ignore his constant mistakes?

Regular Season and Playoffs both, Brad Stuart has been the WORST d-man on the team. Hands-down.

I swear, some of these 'Stuart Defenders' are worse than the 'Crosby Defenders', & both types make that Brittney Spears kid look articulated and debonair in comparison.

Stuart was the most solid defenseman we had behind Lids and Rafalski. He was even better than Rafalski at times. I know that around here one bad game means your whole career has been nothing, but there is no way we should be letting go of Stuart.

At ease soldier. Nobody liked his game 7 play. However, OVERALL, saying that he was the worst defenseman is a stretch, a big stretch.

^^This. The guy was extremely solid until game 7 of the SCF. Several analysts commented along the way how great Stu was playing. Unfortunate that he had some gaffs in Game 7, but with our offense a complete no-show would not have made a difference.....

Really annoying how some people just pick a scape goat out of a hat.....
