Kingston 21 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 ok.....I have heard the speculation that detroit asked NHL NOT to pick Z..this is a even bigger problem if true. This is for the fans. Link: http://twitter.com/#!/Eklund The 4th tweet down.
Travis 576 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) I think Eklund is just stringing together pieces. LeBrun said via Twitter that it was a possibility that the Wings asked the NHL not to add Zetterberg to the team. Shanahan said, on his own Twitter, that some teams did ask the NHL to leave certain players off the roster. edit: And so what if they did? Most Wings fans seem to want the rest, and I doubt Zetterberg has tons of 'casual' fans because he isn't marketed in that way. He's not competing in the Skills contest even if he is there - so really you're missing about 10 - 14 minutes of ice time from Henrik Zetterberg for the entire weekend. HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 It is all Kenny without question. He doesn't need to play in the All-Star game for the status. As I said before, rest up Hank.
DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Wings have way too many injuries, I would rather him not play and rest that way after the break the team is rested and probably Datsyuk will be back and Cleary on the way.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Why would the Wings do this? The game is like 3 weeks away. Is he planning on getting injured before the game or something? If he's healthy, he should play, especially since he's never played in one before.

Travis 576 Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Darren Dreger offered his thoughts on the matter. @DarrenDreger: I'm sure Zetterberg or the Red Wings asked the NHL to excuse the star from the ASG for health reasons. Same applies to missing Flyers.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Oh, and I'm glad for Z. And the Wings. At the same time, I hope little things like this don't hinder his chances for things like the hall of fame or anything like that.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Honestly, I would have rather they picked him and then he turned them down due to injury. So what if he were suspended like Lidstrom, it would have honored the guy and gave him an extra days rest.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 In a perfect world, no Red Wings would go, because they'd all decline. The All-Star Game is a joke, has been for years, and I'd rather the guys on my team spend those few days resting and healing up and getting their s*** together for the 2nd half of the season, than playing in some stupid, meaningless game. Besides, if I want to watch the league's best players play hockey, I'll turn on a Red Wings game. 4 ACallToArms, wingsgirl001, lookalive07 and 1 other reacted to this

Selliria 76 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Apparently, Zetterberg is the only player in hockey with a hot wife. Far from it. But he's the only topic of this conversation right now. And his wife is worth noting. I like to see hockey wives. There's usually such a massive difference in attractiveness. (Mrs. Pronger, anybody?)
