He also got benched (again) the other night by his coach for half-assed play. Second time this season that's happened. SY dodged a huge bullet not bringing this guy back on a long term deal.

Filip Zadina has 5 goals LOL

Larkin MADE Tyler Bertuzzi.  Simple as that.  Zadina was never made.  He's still an associate.

The BIG PROBLEM the Red Wings have right now is Andrew Copp for 3 more years at 5.75 million and Ben Chiarot for 2 more years at 4.25 million.  That's 10 million bucks of unnecessary expense at this point.  Copp is not the guy we thought he was.  He's a huge disappointment.  Chiarot is chewing up minutes while our lazy eyed, goofy looking Scando Swedegards get ready, so I don't have too much of an issue with him at this point.  But it would be nice to unload a year of his contract if possible.  Going to be a tough task for SY at the upcoming deadlines to trim these 2 pieces of dead wood.

Depends on when tho?

Always brutal for them this time of year but they seem to have a pretty good time before the season starts.

Talks now that Chychrun soured on them and don’t want to extend long term. I bet he loved being on the team before the season started.

Chychrun is pretty good. He was also overrated around NHL circles forever based on his physical tools. I posted a comparison between he and Hronek right around the trade deadline last season and their careers are remarkably similar (at that time). But he was often treated by media types like he was the next big thing. He wasn't. In reality he was the next Cam Fowler.

Copp, Fischer, and Rasmussen are forming a nice shutdown 3rd line who adds some secondary offense. Not unlike the Maltby-Draper-Kocur line of the 90s.

Agreed. I really like that line. They play really really hard minutes against the best the opposition has to offer. The fact that they add a little offense too shows just how good those guys have been.

Copp stepped his game up the last 5 or so.  I will admit to that.  I just find myself noticing the same freaking giys out on the ice every time the other team starts to cycle us.  Offenders in order:

Chiarot

Petry

Copp

Rassman

Im thinking Copp and Ras might be guilty by association = suffering from being on the ice when the Chiarot pairing is out there.

Buckle up boys it's gonna be a long ride... Seems like one of those years where it's gonna come down to the last week of the season. All of a sudden Tampa is winning again the east has so much parity right now.

I am good with the ride as long as we keep pace with the others and are competitive till the end.
