I'm going to bed now and getting up in 5.5 hours.  When I get up, I want this thread to be locked and replaced with a pinned topic entitled "Brunner re-signs with Detroit".

Heck, they could say "Brunner resigns with Detroit" and as long as it was a misspelling, I'd be willing to overlook it just this once out of pure joy.

I suggest you don't check on us here. He's gone. We let a young skilled natural goal scorer get away while we courted a buch of old guys. How foolish. Time will tell and I am quite sure it will haunt us.

Brunner turned US down. He got 2 and 3 year offers. I'm sure they were fair. Kenny went out and got replacements. IF we get Cleary or Morrow and not Brunner THEN we can be angry at Kenny.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

You can't get mad at Holland when a player turns down multiple contract offers.  Maybe he doesn't ever want to play defense... just sayin'

Very upsetting that Brunner turned us down, but with all the current talent we have on three straight lines, he would see a lot of third-line minutes. For his career, he is better suited somewhere else.

You must be new to LGW or, for that matter, any Red Wing forum.

Agreed.

I like Brunner but when he said it was about "the right fit" I wonder if that translates to "somewhere the coach won't be on my ass all the time about backchecking."

So bummed by Brunner not signing with us. Sort of makes sense since I thought for sure Kenny would have locked him up awhile ago.

I hate seeing a right handed shot leaving, especially since we have so few of them nowadays.

Yeah we got Alfredsson, but how many years is he going to play here?

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

Brunner and Nyquist made an awesome 3rd line, I will miss him.

Surprised he didn't sign elsewhere so far...maybe he should accept Ken's offer after all.

I really hope something changes and he realizes he was home all along. I do respect that he isn't out for the money and wants to find the right fit. Makes me want a player like that even more!

If it's not about money, he'd already be signed.

Or he is taking a little time to field his offers and make the right decisions.

That being said, signing Alfie and Weiss clearly bumps him out of the top 6 in Detroit this year ... but why not sign here and prove you belong in the top 6 next year.

I know it seems pretty official that he won't be coming back. But the fact that he hasn't signed with another team yet leads me to hold out some slight hope

Perhaps, but the Wings offered him 2 and 3-year deals and he decided to test the waters anyway.

I wonder if he feels like he broke up with his ex-girlfriend, and then she moved on really quick... and now he's just sitting there like, "I think I messed up."

If I had to guess, he is prolly looking for a long term deal so he can settle down with a team.

I think he wants top 6 winger spot guaranteed

Three years isn't enough for coming off of your first season? That's what they gave Datsyuk.

I think you're probably right, but IMO, if he signs with a s***ty team just to achieve that, he'll soon be forgotten.
