LeftWinger 4,962 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 ....and at the expense of the oft-injured, never motivated, professional floater, Franzen! Hey krsmith17, you may have wished Pulk wouild've played Friday in GR, but look at it this way, you'll get to see Franzen in GR for his conditioning stint! krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 With him replacing Franzen, who is a mainstay on the power-play, I doubt Babcock throws another guy on there instead of Pulkkinen... If I see a second defender on the second unit instead of Teemu... Babcock. Also Dabura, you didn't need to add "(outside of Sproul)" when referring to the purest shooter. As great a shot as Sproul has, it doesn't compare to the "holy slapper"... LeftWinger, I know you're probably kidding, but Franzen wouldn't be sent down for a conditioning stint, nor would I care for seeing him down there.

You'd think so, but Helm is an option, too Unit 1: Datsyuk, Z, Gus, Abs & Kronwall Unit 2: Sheahan, Weiss, Tatar, Helm & DeKeyser ....that is my nightmare. Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 So what's the over/under on his career goals? 1000? How many did Marek Svatos end up with? Maybe a few more than him.
LeftWinger 4,962 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Weiss - Datsyuk - Tatar Abby - Zetterberg - Nyquist Pulkkinen- Sheahan - Jurco Miller - Glendening - Helm If Jurco is still hurt, then put Helm in his spot and put Andersson in.
Euro_Twins 4,476 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Does the streak in gr stop? Or does it pick up where it left off when he returns? Does the call up end it or what?

As great a shot as Sproul has, it doesn't compare to the "holy slapper"... Eh, I dunno. IMHO, Sproul's got one of the hardest, heaviest shots in hockey. (Ask Mitch Callahan, heh.) But, I mean, I do prefer Pulkkinen as a pure shooter/sniper. Does the streak in gr stop? Or does it pick up where it left off when he returns? Does the call up end it or what? I believe it holds until he returns.

Vladiator 116 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Hoping that he can do well. Watched the video on his highlights. He has a wicked shot. I'm not sure that he will be able to do that in the NHL (He can do that wind up in the AHL but that won't happen in the NHL). Put him on one of the top lines and let's see what he can do. Looking at those highlights I worry about that too. Then again I don't know how old those highlights are and I never watch any Griffins games. With the points he's putting up I imagine there's more to him than just that slapper. Could anyone tell me if he's also got an above average wrister, or is he good at finding the quiet spots for recieving one timers?
marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Does the streak in gr stop? Or does it pick up where it left off when he returns? Does the call up end it or what? I hope he never beats the streak due to forcing managment to keep him on the Wings roster.

Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 I'm not sure that he will be able to do that in the NHL (He can do that wind up in the AHL but that won't happen in the NHL). He'll have less time and space in the NHL, but it's not like "it won't happen." Like, are we actually saying he won't be able to wind up in the NHL? Briere beat Lehner last night with a slapper on the rush. It was pure Pulkkinen. I wouldn't complain. Although it's probably unlikely It's incredibly unlikely. krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 People worrying about that long wind-up in his slap shot, shouldn't. He does that when he has the time and space, but he also has a deceptively quick release when he's being tightly checked. And yes, he has a phenomenal wrist shot as well. Also, it's not just the velocity in his shot, it's the unbelievable accuracy and the fact that he can get any type of shot off in full flight. He is money on the left side of the ice on the power-play, looking a lot like a Brett Hull, Steven Stamkos or Alex Ovechkin, the way he can get those one-timers off. He is also a very underrated passer. The weakest parts of his game when he came over to North America were his skating and defensive game. He has put in a ton of work to improve those two things, and it really shows. He still looks a little awkward in his stride, but he is a much faster skater than he ever was, and he really pays attention to the defensive side of the game as well. AtlantaHotWings 988 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 In the video he is wearing number 6 so what will he wear on Saturday as 6 is still unofficially retired as it was Larry Aurie's if memory still serves me correct 66?
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 He will be wearing the same number he has worn with Detroit last season and through the past two training camps, 56.
harleydon1950 1 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Hate to see anyone injured. But I'm glad Franzen is out. The guy just does nothing. Don't even know he is on the ice half the time, until he gets checked, then he is always hurt in some way. One good year and the wings sign him big. Bad move Holland. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 I hope Pulkinnen tears it up but I'm not getting my hopes up. His whole game seems to rely on having time and space to slap, which doesn't happen much in the NHL. His last callup demonstrated his limitations.
