frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted January 18, 2015 They are streaky another much better schedule will come and the leafs play themselves our of a top 5 pick. Whoever is calling the shots should embrace a tank and maybe draft a few more hard working players to give Kessel some help..

marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted January 18, 2015 Knew a guy who was making $50/hour, five eight-hour shifts a week. So his pay before taxes was $4000 bi-weekly. I'm pretty sure he only ended up with around $2500 after taxes, and that may be a bit high. It's insane. s***, I'm a student working part time. Before taxes I make $600 every couple weeks. Come payday I get $450 of it. Even those with low wages get hosed. Actually a big reason why I plan on leaving this country when I graduate.
DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted January 18, 2015 Some feel the Leafs need to start all over, and have a fire sale of players. The Leafs hierarchy is a bit confusing with all their VP's, assistant to the VP, assistants to the assistant...Who actually runs that team? On the NHL Network noon time show this past Friday the panel discussed whether or not Nonis (acting GM - apparently) wants to be the guy to make the hard decisions (as in trades), and maybe a guy with more experience such as George Mcphee could be hired as their GM...huh? It's all but known that Mark Hunter will be getting the GM after this year in Toronto. Lots of radio stations already talking about it.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Their owners hate each other, still haven't replaced that big mouth VP Leiweke once they do their management structure will become even more confusing. I'm wondering 2 why they haven't thought about Shero the guy knows how to build a winner and isn't afraid of hard decisions. I've read somewhere that Nonis was very happy with the guy in the background and that Tannenbaum plus the Rogers and bell board are meddling with the team operations. If that is true the rebuild should start at the top and not just with the players. Leafs are a classic example of having too many cooks in the kitchen. Maybe even a rat. I agree. Nothing wrong with his comments, or for Tim to point out the obvious glaring issues with the team. Everyone else is scared to speak up, it was refreshing to hear it even though I'm not a Leaf fan but I know what the team is going through as I see / hear it every single day. So - no chance of Babs being offered to manage the team as well as coach it? Me thinks Babs would much rather stay put in Detroit than work in Toronto, and not have a chance to make decisions on player personnel. I just don't see Babs going to that mess, especially after they will probably be going through another rebuild after this season by the looks and sounds of things. The media is what is driving Babcock to Leafs since they think they can get every top Coach and FA well because it's the Mecca of Hockey. Stamkos didn't want to play for them, Tavares didn't want to play for them, Giroux didn't want to play for them, Leaf fans and media just don't get it. Right now the media is trying to save face and if they don't get Babs then they say they will get Todd Mclellan.

The problem with a quote like that it's coming from someone who isn't a hockey guy doesn't respect the tradition of the club and wasn't invested in the leafs before. If he wants to talk about character Leiwekie should look in the mirror..I mean the Guy is on his way out. If Babcock is going to this mess it won't be easy who is the leader? What if players aren't buying in ? Yeah, it might be the best paid job but the scrutiny and mess there really is something else As far as the media goes they are a huge part of why Toronto is getting stunned by so many players it's like 24/7 the whole season. Heck players have to pay others to buy groceries for them because they fear fan reaction after bad games. This is is a town on the verge of running a perennial 30 plus goal scorer out of town. Hard to believe Babcock would prefer that over coaching the best player in hockey or a hardnosed juggernaut like the Blues.

e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Was watching the game last night. A few more Leafs jerseys made their way onto the ice...I was hoping for a shutout for the Canes...Would've been entertaining watching Leaf nation riot inside the ACC. Shutout loss would have been hilarious... but Kadri scored. #FREEKADRI Only their second goal in five games. In the last five games, they've been outscored 15 - 2. The frustration on the part of the Leafs players was palpable as well. Just the highlights: Kessel looking to the rafters and "re-doing" his shot attempt after missing a tasty open net. Phaneuf roaming the ice just looking to fight someone -- "Hello, Staal brothers!" Franson smashing his stick on net after missing blocking E. Staal's EN goal at the end of regulation. Phaneuf might have gotten the better of the Staal brothers in hits and the fight, but the look on Eric Staal's face at the end of the game when he tees up that slapper at Phaneuf is in-*******-credible. Just seething.

The possibility of Greene and Franson in free agency is exciting. We'll be a more attractive team this year as well. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

kipwinger 8,756 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Seriously? They're going to charge someone for throwing a sweater on the ice? This should be proof positive...beyond a shadow of a doubt...that the Leafs not only don't like their fans, but in some cases actively dislike their fans. What a scumbag organization. frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Tsn talked about the leafs not being tough enough and not standing up for themselves well two guys that can add energy and toughness are sadly in the AHL. Also what's the ******* problem of the media there ? Players must be tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Send us Orr and Kessel both players are heavily underappreciated in Toronto.
