I'm guessing boston will offer picks 13,14,15 and Subban for the 3rd overall pick? Don't know if arizona can say no to that

Future franchise goaltender ... Possibly a good dman + the Russian kid and another good forward

But how much value does Subban really have? He has nerves of glass. He has been completely underwhelming since being drafted.

The Bruins retained close to half of Lucic's cap hit/salary in order to make trade work with the cap-strung Kings

Holy hell.

Wonder when they're going to officially buy out Richards.

I accidentally copy and pasted the wrong tweet lol. And my luck, I happened to accidentally copy and paste a tween from a fake account that someone I follow retweeted. Glad I caught that one.

Exactly what has Subban done for someone to say he's a future franchise goaltender. When he played for Belleville I watched him play and he really isn't that good. Put it this way, if he is a #1 goalie for your team you are in trouble.

It's so much better to miss the playoffs, have cap issues and trade away guys for picks. Damn, why can't the Wings do that?

A 1st and 2 2nd's? That is it? But oh yeah, big name players NEVER get traded. Wasn't that the line from some of you a week or so ago? I think I remember reading that somewhere before........

The only way this makes sense for Boston is if Hamilton told them he wouldn't re-sign with them.

Love seeing Boston blow it up. Trade Chara and Rask next youf****** losers.

On Sportsnet they were saying there were some rumblings about Rask. They speculated Edmonton may go after him.

I'm not sure I would classify Hamilton & Lucic as "Big Name" players. Hamilton is definitely a young stud, but were aren't talking Shea Weber here. I would even guess that the average NHL fan may not even know who he is.

Lucic is technically a name, but not because of his skill set, but rather because he is an ass.

People were disagreeing with your notion that Stamkos, Kopitar, and Seabrook will be traded. It wouldn't even make sense to say that in regards to all "big name players" since (depending on what you consider a big name) trades like that happen practically every year.

And this trade doesn't make sense for Boston no matter what.

Because the only alternative to Holland's "kicked the tires" is to make the awful trade Boston did?

That's like saying the Wings shouldn't get high draft picks so they don't turn into the Oilers.

Didn't say that. But I don't think making trades and rebuilding is as easy as some fans think. Sometimes making bold trades is what it takes. May look "stupid" now, will it be 5 years from now? That's the issue. Do I like the Wings losing in the first round every year? Not so much. Boston and LA were the model franchises to many here just a few short years ago. Now they're out of the playoffs and looking at how to rebuild. Is it better to rebuild on the fly and make the playoffs and put a semi competitive team on the ice year after year or gut the team of fan favorites and stockpile draft picks and take your chances?

LA is still a model franchise atm. Yes they had a bad year and missed the PO's. So what? they also won 2 of the last 4 Cups. Which would you rather have over the last 4 years? 4 PO trips with 3 1st round exits and 1 second round exit OR two Cups a PO loss and missing the PO for 1 year? Give me the later every damn time.

As for trades the flood gates just opened up. The isles pick up 2 1st round picks for nothing, Hamilton gets traded for nothing, Lucic gets traded for nothing, O'Reilly gets moved etc...... yet somehow we couldn't find a way to add a second round pick. Holland to his credit has been drafting well the past 4 or 5 years. But he has done zero in UFA and trades. if he is "committed to going with the kids" his words in Florida last night, then stop trading away picks! if that is his plan-which is fine BTW, then pick up more picks!

Going with the kids and then spending draft picks on old broken down vets at the deadline are opposite actions. Pick one.

They didn't get traded for nothing. They got traded for higher first round picks than Detroit has as well as packages that are different than anything Detroit could offer, and were traded to Western conference teams instead of a team that the Bruins have to play a lot. ROR is incredibly over rated. He's a second line center who wants $8 million a season.

I hear you. I don't think LA is really in rebuild mode though. Certainly not the way Boston is. Though I'm not quite sure what Boston is doing.

Last season LA already had a thin blueline with the loss of Willie Mitchell, then the whole Voynov thing really set them back. Then you throw in Richards and Brown's decline. All of that is pretty fixable. And they still have Kopitar, Carter, Doughty, Gaborik, Quick, Martinez, Muzzin and now Lucic all in or around their prime. Plus kids like Toffoli and Pearson. Kopitar is going to get a huge contract next time but overall it's more tweaking than rebuilding.

I know I've beaten this to death here over the last couple seasons but my main frustration comes from the lack of bolstering the blueline in Lidstrom's absence. I don't think the Wings have needed a series of bold moves, but they sure could've used at least one.

I don't disagree with you there. A true #1 defenseman with an offensive side and capable of being a PP QB would be nice. Holland seemed to put all his eggs in one basket with assuming he'd get Suter, and when that didn't happen, he sort of did nothing. At the same time, the Wings just don't have a lot to offer in terms of assets. Since Suter, I don't think there's really been a whole lot out there in terms of defensemen who fit with what the Wings need at a price that makes sense.

Now they're saying that the other players didn't like him because he was a longer and that contributed to the trade. I don't care how annoyed you get, you don't trade a very close to star player for picks that are not a guarantee unless he's starting fights or something more serious.

Typical cya stuff. The B's screwed up and they are trying to spin it. But hey, stars never get traded and always cost more than the RW's can afford to pay......

Ha.

They thought theyd be able to trade those three picks for something elite, it didn't work out, and now they're saying whatever they can to save face.
