sjr2012 439 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 This is why I was restrained when we beat Philly ... we are inconsistent. Yes, it was back to back but we have to do better than this at this time of year with so much on the line. I actually believe that Ottawa is the kind of team that will put their best effort in to play spoiler so that's good. NYR, they have something to play for, seeding, whether wildcard or 3rd place so ... we'll see which Detroit team shows up. Another season where we go down to game 82 ... look back at all those frustrating games that we lost ... most memorable was the 1-0 to Leafs yup that leaf game will hurt
AtlantaHotWings 997 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 yup that leaf game will hurt or the Habs game after battling back to be up 3 - 2 and lose 4 - 3 thats 4 points right there between those 2 win 1 or both and we would be making plans how to get tickets in Tampa. But can't cry over split milk situation is what it is and they either decide they are going to give it all to be in the second season or we see them playing golf shortly. Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Howard or Mrazek? I'd still roll with Howard because it was mostly the team in front of him that let them down last night. Plus, there's just no way to trust Mrazek at this point in the biggest game of the season.

FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Detroit Red Wings Playoff Chances Lost to Boston 2-5, playoff odds down 11 to 74.1% 93 points 41 29-11 And so it goes to game 82. Still have a chance to control our own destiny but also we can gain a little traction with losses by others. Philly has to more or less run the table at this point. Boston has a 2/3 chance at the WC spot if they don't win their last one. I'd probably count on them winning their last one. They came out last night with an obvious purpose - playing like their lives depended on it.

NerveDamage 4,176 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Why does Washington have only a 52% chance of beating Boston in the first round? That graph is stupid. I just noticed that, I asked Micah Blake McCurdy (@ineffectivemath) since he also placed Philly up with 52% vs Washington in the previous graph I posted. Maybe he's not a Caps fan. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 74% seems high. Especially since the Flyers have a game in hand. Are we playing a WHL team tomorrow at home? The Flyers have a tough aheduke, though. Wasn't it four games in five nights to close out the season? They've got to get tired at some point. They're likely to lose one of the final games they have, which puts us in. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Howard confirmed on net for Rangers' game. When he was pulled last night Blash said something to Howard as he got on the bench and I wondered at the time if he said something along the lines of "you're playing Saturday"

canadian wings fan 305 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Absolutely HUGE news! There's no reason to lose tomorrow. Z has been horrible down this stretch lets not play him 20 minutes. Howard is starting and it's probably the right call. To me tomorrow rests solely on Datsyuk, Z, Kronwall and Howard. We need our highly paid vets to step the hell up. Maybe he's not a Caps fan. He could be right with the Caps playoff history, but the Flyers or Bruins wouldn't exactly be entering the playoffs on a high note. It seems like the underdogs that generally pull upsets are teams that played well down the stretch to make it in.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Backup goalie against us? Jeez it's getting hard to be optimistic. Backup goalies are our kryptonite. Man I need to stop being negative. 1 GMRwings1983 reacted to this
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 Honestly, if the Wings can't win against a team giving them the opening the Rangers are, they don't deserve to be there. hockeysattva 8 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 It's been a loooong time since I posted. I came here to find some optimism, thanks for providing it. GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Honestly, if the Wings can't win against a team giving them the opening the Rangers are, they don't deserve to be there. The Rangers want to avoid the Penguins as much as the Red Wings want to make the playoffs, it would seem. Then they should be more obvious, like pulling the goalie randomly in the first period or deliberately icing the puck at every chance. Would be nice if they could just lay down for us like Kevin Nash did for Hogan back in 1999. Edited April 8, 2016 by GMRwings1983
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 On paper, those updates from NYR seem to tilt the ice in our favor but like someone said, backup goalies are like Vezina candidates to us ... don't know why. canadian wings fan 305 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 A Nyquist goal or two would be nice. Yup all of our goal scorers have dried up. Tatar, Larkin, Richards,Abdelkader all of these guys are dying to get a goal. In fact we've only been winning because of the secondary scoring from Glendening, Anthanisiou, Green, you know guys like that.
