I dont mind that Rasmusen doesnt score if hes playing well defensively what I cant stand about big ras is that a breath of wind knocks him off the puck. Hes way to passive/weak for such a large man. He spends more time on his knees than a $3 *****.

At the B. Smith/Mantha age (25/26), yes.  Time to unload then.  At 23 and in a player's first year of developing a new role, no.  Im sure Ras didnt have 4th line shut down center + pk/face off expert in mind when he was dreaming of his NHL future.  Thats what Yzerman and Blash want out of him, and that's what he's trying to do.  The guy is 6'6" and has a huge reach.  I could see him being great in our 4C role if he gets a bit stronger and a half step faster over the next 2 seasons.  You can see he's just not quite fast enough and not quite physical enough right now.  He needs gym work.

yes.  as i said above, he needs to dedicate time in the gym.  that will be his undoing as an nhler if he doesnt put the time in.  he's 20 lbs too light (like dekeyser), and a half step too slow.  His reach with his long arms and long stick is incredible.  But he needs to be the one pushing others around.  He's getting outworked right now because he's not strong enough in upper or lower body.  Wings have had a strength coach issue for a long time now.  Dont know why they cant fix that.

Seems about right.  I think Forsberg and Lindholm are pipe dreams, so probably a good idea not to get any hopes up.

Pluses - Bomb Shot, Offensive Hockey IQ

Minuses - Skates like he's Quasimodo, looks like he's Quasimodo, Who knows if he can actually play defense - all his highlights are on the power play

If we draft in the middle and he's around, I say we take a chance on him.  Got the frame, offensive hockey awareness, and overall mobility, so at least he check as few boxes.

At that point in the draft, there will be a few guys who would be relatively equal in regards to "BPA". There will most likely be at least one C in the mix.

Matt Savoie is an interesting one. He's ranked as high as #2 and as low as #7. Plays center and shoots right.

Yzerman has never shied away from small forwards before. If he drops into our range I could see him being our choice.

His older brother Carter Savoie was drafted by the Oilers and is playing at the U of Denver with Buium, Mazur, and Tuomisto. He's the leading scorer there and I believe just made the Canada WJC roster. Maybe we can send Leddy to Edmonton in exchange for Carter?
