So. I'm really pulling for Cossa, but could this end up being a bad pick? How is Wallstedt doing? Also, looking at what's left of the Leddy trade to St. Louis, are we going to regret him trading that 2nd round pick (Raty.)

I'm not going all John Scott here and questioning the Yzerplan, but Cossa hasn't looked good. Should we be scared?

I don't think it's worth getting bent out of shape over a couple of prospect games playing behind some of the worst defense I've ever seen.

As long as he shows the same type of growth in GR that he had in Toledo last season, I'd say everything is on track with him (Cossa).

He's gonna struggle from time to time. What is important is that he grows and learns from it.

I think it's reasonable to be concerned.

Maybe the goalies were told to take it easy.

I can deem Cossa a bust with out elevating my heart rate. No sweat off my back. Just on to the next prospect I guess.

Why do you ding dongs think SY wasted a high 2nd, his best 2nd of 3 in the draft, on Trey Augustine?

Cossa's cooked. SY isn't debating how this plays out. He's already moved on.

Ned --> Husso

Cossa --> Augustine

No, they took who they thought was the better goalie long term... if they're right great, if not... next man up.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Osgood whom gave the thumbs up on Cossa instead of Wallstedt after interviews prior to the draft?

The 1 thing that stuck with me was the opinion of a scout who more or less said be wary of the impressive numbers he's putting up as a netminder on a WHL/OHL/QMJHL team with loaded talent in front of him when compared to another player in a men's league overseas...

I could play net in Sweden. Big ice, more reaction time, weak little noodle armed shooters, everyone too scared to go to net.

Why TF would anyone let Osgood decide anything?

“Ozzy had two stints and he was able to talk about the early days of his career and he told some real valuable stories that I think Sebastian really appreciated,” Draper said. “And then he also talked about when he came back on his second stint and how he was a different goalie. I think that conversation really registered with Sebastian.”

So Sebastian Cossa listening to Ozzy tell stories, and thus endearing himself to Ozzy, directly prompted his drafting by Yzerman?  Here's what I think happened: Yzerman saw a HUGE, handsome  North American goalie with a lot of swagger and decided to draft him and develop him into Ben Bishop part 2.  Yzerman saw a good, calm Swedish goalie, but knows that a Swedish goalie has never won, so he said nej to the goofy looking rslurred lad.
