I don't care who you are, that is a very bad call by the refs. another game taken away from us, wings are 3-0-1 without the refs killing us late in games this year, 3-1-2 with...

#2543310 Buffalo to retire Hasek's number

Posted by Euro_Twins on 21 October 2014 - 10:18 PM

I don't think he was ever bad here. Average/acceptable but not outstanding, sure. But not like some complained about him.

EDIT I also think Osgood deserves more credit than most give him

EDIT 2 he was also way past his primeyears those seasons, I thought ppl had unrealistic expectations, and despite that he still played pretty good

People give ozzy far too much credit around here. He wasn't very good at all when he left Detroit.

Hasek on the other hand was awesome and as pointed out was still decent when he came to Detroit.

Smith is getting better and better the more he plays.

Go figure. Kid with less than 2 years mhm experience is getting better, glad they didn't trade him. Lots of knee jerkers would have done so immediately. I'm happy he's getting better :)

#2542943 Babcock " I dont think it will be my final year here"

Posted by Euro_Twins on 21 October 2014 - 07:16 PM

Uhhhh by the sounds of it they're pretty close to a deal. Am I missing something? They're barely off on financials, and off on term by just one year. How is that a low ball? They offered a mirror contract of Holland's. That's a pretty fair place to start negotiations IMO. Also wouldn't that deal make him one of the highest paid coaches in the entire league?

I think it would be the highest paid coaching contract in the league if I'm not mistaken. He's was already pretty close to the top (and was when he signed) at $2m

#2542886 TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Posted by Euro_Twins on 21 October 2014 - 05:04 PM

Yes. I mean no zero point games. Sorry, Euro Twins. My bad.

No harm no foul. We've played well and that's all I can ask. The wings seem to be putting more 60 minute efforts in this year so far then they did last year.

#2542876 Franzen to 7-day IR

Posted by Euro_Twins on 21 October 2014 - 04:21 PM

this is why Holland's off season was such a failure.  Not that I wanted him to pay the prices other teams were asking for, but he could have been a bit more active in UFA. I get the Cleary promise, but he isn't playing anyway.  He waited and waited for Alfie to make a decision...he is still waiting actually.  He should have been looking for depth at the top 6.  I know Dats and Z are lights out together, but I really think they would be doing much better for this team apart, with other legit scorers on their wing.  The only reason they are kept together is they don't have enough top 6 talent to surround them on two line.  Weiss has been a wash out (it happens) and now the Sheahan line is being forced to be a top 6 when they are best on the third, because a lot of other teams bottom 6er's can't match them.  Now they are playing against other teams top 6 and it is showing a bit.

I fully believe our 4 centers should be Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Sheahan and Helm with Andy in the press box for backup. It will be nearly impossible to get rid of Weiss, but that is fine if he is already destined for the press box anyhow.  IMO, if Holland would have been a bit more aggressive July 1st and offered some more cash to the likes of Heatley and Iginla our top 6 would have been perfectly fine with Franzine going down.  I mean they wouldn't be missing his output as much as they are going to do so now.

I know the focus was on a RH defender, but when his first couple of targets went elsewhere, instead of panicing and re-signing Q for so much right away, he should have maybe turned focus on his offense and addressed Q in August when he would have cost less...or maybe he would have gone elsewhere, which wouldn't really had mattered. Again the Cleary promise is what it is...stupid, but it happened.  I think, a full healthy lineup that looked like this would have been awesome.  (also I know it doesn't mean the UFA's would have come here, or at the very least it would have cost a bit more cash.)

Heatley - Datsyuk - Iginla
Franzen - Zetterberg - Nyquist
Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar
Abdelkader - Helm - Glendening

Ya, there wasn't enough roster room because of Weiss and Cleary, but that, again, is where Holland screwed up.  Andersson and Miller in the press box rotating in and out.  I know Nesty wouldn't be here, but he wouldn't have to be when all are healthy.  I know its only a 23 man roster and this would have 24, but if push came to shove you can always find a home for Andy or Weiss.  Heck, you may be able to waive Andy and he would probably clear.  Then there is Cleary....

All hypothetical of course, since Holland...well...was Holland over the summer.

So it's Holland's fault that he picked up a 50-60 point scorer to replace flip, and that he got injured? Had he picked up Heatley and iginla and they played very poorly would it then be his fault to? I get your point but the Weiss signing was not a bad signing at the time. And we still have 4 years to find out if it will be bad going forward.

#2542875 Weiss

I do agree Babcock does things that makes me wonder, but again, is Weiss just that far into the dog house? I didn't understand the Chelios, Modano, Commodore, Tootoo or Legwand situations either...maybe it's just too late for Weiss. Once Babcock doesn't like you on his team, you're done.

Makes me wonder if way back in the day, if Shanny left for the reason's he gave, or was there an issue with Babcock.

Who knows. But the thing is babs doesn't seem to dislike Weiss. I think babs sees the team is playing well without him and wants him to take baby steps to get back

Great call. He's got 6 months to find himself. He should be able to do that.

I think he'll be playing big minutes before the new year. But that's just one man's opinion

#2542737 slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

Posted by Euro_Twins on 20 October 2014 - 09:09 PM

I want justice to be served. I just think all too often it isn't. Anyways this type of conversation can bring out a lot of anger in people (myself included) and I would like to step away from it, it seems as though a few people may have misinterpreted what I was saying, and I thank those of you who understood my poorly worded phrases and came to my rescue :)

#2542623 Pavel Datsyuk update?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 20 October 2014 - 01:24 PM

Good point. Nesty needs to get stronger in his own end (see Getzlaf abusing him on GWG), but his forecheck has been a lot more impressive than I thought it would be. He needs 10 more lbs of muscle and a few years experience, and he'll be a good 3rd line NHLer.

I'd rather play a guy a couple weeks that we know was a consistent point producer before being injured than a project that may or may not pan out in a couple years.

#2542594 Pavel Datsyuk update?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 20 October 2014 - 11:31 AM

I agree E_T. But it looks like Franzen isn't ready to go. He wasn't at practice today. Also looks like Weiss will be back to a healthy scratch once again.

Lines at practice today were
Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Abdelkader
Nyquist - Sheahan - Tatar
Nestrasil - Helm - Jurco
Miller - Glendening - Anderson

God forbid nostril gets scratched. He really hasn't impressed me much, give Weiss a few games to get going

#2542585 slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

"Slava Voynov was arrested Monday morning on domestic violence charges and has been suspended indefinitely from the Los Angeles Kings pending a formal investigation by the NHL."

http://www.nhl.com/i...s.htm?id=735321

Looks like they're trying to avoid the giant headache the NFL had with the immediate action.

I wonder what kind of protocol they're going to put in place, like the NFL's automatic 6game suspension for first offense, then ban for second.
I hope the NHL does something much more severe, its horrendous that its such a big problem and the NFL handled it so badly I'd like the NHL to come out with a no tolerance policy for these offenses.

I also think they should be beaten in the streets by the rest of their team for being s***ty excuses for men.

Here's a more in depth write up from CBS sports:

Innocent until proven guilty right? That's about as much as they can do before all the facts are presented unfortunately.

Off the record, Canada has the best national anthem IMO. Just plain fun to sing. Always wished it was Oh America instead.

Now that I've admitted that it's mandatory that I insult the shinyness of your money and also you say about funny

Hmm I feel you missed a monopoly reference somewhere in there?
