#2473528 1/16 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Rangers 1

It's official: the Red Wings have absolutely no luck.

You create your own luck. Rangers outshot and had the better of the scoring chances. They earned there lucky bounce.

Why is there another Fil topic? The guy is gone people get over it. Sure hes been good for 44 games. Guess what..the 44 games before that he was horrible. Which is the real Fil?

#2473233 2010-2011 drafts will be our savior

Posted by GoalieManPat on 16 January 2014 - 03:00 AM

Just looking at the pasts drafts and my god , still early but those 2 drafts could end up saving us painful rebuilding years

We could of drafted "maybe" our future top 4 dmen In the 2010 draft alone in Ouellet sproul backman marchenko

Our potential (star goalie in my opinion ) future goalie mrazek

Then add jurco sheahan jarnkrok pulkkinen up front ... Wow

Just can't help to think (and hope) years down the road people will be once again in awe of the redwings draft history .... Can't wait to see these kids play

Its nice to think of them all progressing to be top NHL playoffs but odds are one maybe two of who you listed become impact players. Even Mrazek who has shot from junior to NHL quicker than any wings prospect recently is no sure bet. Steve Mason sure looked good when he was Mrazeks age and look what happened. Sheahan will be nothing more than a 3rd line grinder at best. Those years at ND really stalled his offensive progression. For being a 1st round pick his development has been a bust. Pulk  and Jarnkrok look good but the NHL is a whole different world. Look at Nyquist. He was tearing up the AHL the last two years. He was supposed to be the offensive savoir this year. He had 3 good games and has since been really slumping.

So while I agree that the prospects you listed are enticing  (save for Sheahan) the realistic view is we would be lucky if even 2 become impact players that "save" a franchise from rebuilding years.

#2470167 Howard on U.S. Olympic Roster

Posted by GoalieManPat on 02 January 2014 - 01:58 AM

I'm really old. I preferred it when the NHL season wasn't shut down for weeks for a bunch of Olympic hockey games that will be poorly televised.

Playoff intensity hockey instead of duldrum of the regular season February hockey.....ya I hate it to.....

He should say thanks but no thanks and get his s*** together for the team that signs his pay checks.

#2470102 Howard on U.S. Olympic Roster

Bishop should go over Howard

Howard is more of a proven commodity than Bishop. Bishop has had a strong 4 months to coincide with Howards slump. Bishop hasn't proven that whats hes doing now isnt more than a hot streak. Howard has proven to be able to carry a team. If s*** hits the fan for team USA they want someone whos proven he can take a team on his back over a guy whos really only playing consistently strong hockey for the first time in his career.

And yeah after each and every loss we have someone to complain but not us. Jimmy sucked big time vs Nashville. He sucked today as well. But this clown will start next time anyway. Today it was Bernier who was a problem, Last game it was not-perfect-execution (in a game lost 4:6). Next game vs Dallas it will be thatf****** Russian junior Nichushkin who will suddently get his gamee going. Or Benn just dominating.

Yeah thats not true at all. The correct thing to say was he sucked in the shootout. The first 65 minutes he was strong.

Which probably no other player would have gotten. Regarding his abilities Datsyuk for example was nearly invisible out there. Cleary wasn't good so far in this season but in this game he was one of our best. Can't get all the hate today.

Yes Dats was clearly invisible. Especially since he was the one who put the first chance for Cleary on a platter out front which Cleary flubbed. As well as being the only Wing who could consistently carry the puck into the Leafs zone while maintaining control and setting up the offense. Scored the only wings goal in the shootout. Yes I agree totally invisible.

Sure wish Cleary would somehow stop being completely useless. 3 grade A chances completely wasted by him.

Ive been one of the biggest Howard defenders on here this year. Tonight is the first night I can honestly say there is no defending his play. Giving up 5 goals to one of the worst offensive teams in the league. 3 goals you would expect a junior goalie to be able to handle with ease. Sickening.

Brutal loss. It's hard to watch this team right now, but we are fans in the good and the bad. It is just so frustrating and impossible to not make posts saying how horrible everything and everyone is and how it is the end of the world. Desperately need a win, but the Ducks are going to destroy this team on Tuesday. Just don't let Perry or Getzlaf score and I'll be happy.

Well some are. You still have those with the standard "why do I even bother with this team" after every loss.

#1 priority: fix the PP!!! We could have won so many games with a half-decent PP. Stop playing Kindl on it. Eaves? Really? Stop with Alfie on the point. Make changes.

Exactly! Big issue here. Even my wife whos not the most knowledgeable on the players skillset mention "Why are Eaves, Cleary, and Kindl out on the power-play"

Because he can't score at an NHL level

And you can make this assumption after just one game?? Dats didn't score today as well. I guess he cant score at the NHL level too. Who would you have in his place? The likes of Miller and Eaves?  Did he look like a rookie at some points today? Yes. Did he make more impact on the game today than all but maybe two or three Wings players? Yes.

good luck with this team babs, no one looks inspired to play

Disagree. The youngsters always have jump. Tatar, Nyquist, and tonight Jurco are bringing energy to every shift. The problem is the older players. Bert and Cleary are bringing nothing. Alfie seems like he never came back from the last trip to Ottawa. If Kronwall could actually hit the net for once it might help to. Every chance he gets hes shooting field goals over the net. Dats doesnt look like hes 100%

This team is better than the 2002 Detroit Red Wings.

Make sure you dont operate heavy equipment anytime soon as you are high as a kite if you really believe that. The 02 team had hall of famers on the 3rd and 4th lines. This team is still 1/3 spare parts from a junkyard.
