And Smith was leading all defensemen in points last time I checked Nice to see some promising prospects in the system again - now we just need to ensure they never drive a car

Don't forget that one Czech guy in the OHL, I remember seeing him play a bit in the World Juniors and he was impressive as well. Along with Smith, Kindl and the other few goalies, the wings have a very bright future. Nyquist and Smith are both 1-2 in the Hobey Baker race!

If he wins the HB, i see no need for him to play college next year. Unless his team has a significant chance of winning the 'Ship next year, i don't see a reason for him to stay, once you win everything you can at a certain level, it's time for a new and improved challenge.

Interesting way to go with the college-route. Gonna be fun to follow his development.

I can really see him in a wings jersey in some years... He, Tatar and also Ferraro given the potential and bloodline..really good offensive prospects

Looks like another "late round gem". I doubt he will ever be as good as Datsyuk or Zetterberg, but the best college hockey player at the moment shouldn't do to bad in the future.

once he gets to around 200lbs I'll be happy with this kid. Drake, I'm sure you and I will be debating him and Smith for the next few years, eh haha.

Here's how I'd pair them. Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Miller-Filppula-Williams Draper-Helm-Eaves Top two are more of a 1A/1B dealie getting roughly equal time. If Bertuzzi goes cold, pair up Filppula with Datsyuk-Holmstrom as Datsyuk and Filppula have played on the same line off/on throughout the years with some success. As good as the Datsyuk line is now, Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary was a killer line when it was used in the playoffs off/on last year, I would love to see Babcock go to that.

Does no one else remember how good he was earlier in the season, before getting injured? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKBhiAqkcgw The one thing you could complain about back then was that he was shooting and shooting and shooting and very rarely scoring. So because of that people forget that he was playing great, maybe the best I've seen him since 07-08. But after his injury he hasn't been quite the same. I very rarely want to use the "he's not 100%" excuse, but watching him play right now leads me to believe that it might be true. He doesn't look like he's having fun out there. I think the people complaining about his lack of heart or whatever are dead wrong..

Hmmm... it's a bold prediction but we do expect those from you.

no, its just that when you have Franzen or Datsyuk on your line, it's a little easier to create situations to score... it defiantly looks like something could be wrong health-wise, but it doesn't help when your the only player on your line who can consistently create scoring chances...Williams is always looking for a shot and Cleary is doing whatever it is Cleary does.

Z doesn't get to play with the best players like Datsyuk does...Homer is better than Cleary and Franzen is way better than Williams... Hank doesn't have a lot to work with... Hopefully, moving Flip there will help him out.

You are correct, it is Chelsea Dagger, by The Fratellis. However, dont click that link, its just the lame ass Rick Roll'd video. Here is the real one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=935CFnTt-iA

So let's start another thread about how Zetterberg is underachieving.

agreed! Too bad we had so much hope for him last year! We should've package Him, Hudler's rights & our first and second round pick for Tampa's 2nd overall and got Hedman....

Don't you remember how many starts it took Ozzy to get back into a groove last season? The Wings could afford to then because they lead the league in scoring. What about now? They don't have the goal margins to devote games to warming a guy up.

    No suspension for Cooke

And just like the Richards hit it showed a blatant disregard for the other player's safety and was absolutely vicious. This type of hit is not good for hockey. There's a difference between finishing checks and playing recklessly.

you are correct, 55fan. I now know that if Howard He Do It?! is going to read a post that I wrote I need to assume that not everyone will be able to understand the point that i'am making.

Thankfully the season doesn't end today. They may make it, they may not. I'm very hopefully and cautiosuly optimistic but the odds aren't all that great and the Wings are probably going to have to rely on other teams not playing well either. If the Wings can somehow get a ridiculous winning streak of 5+ games or whatever the odds obviously improve, but other things/other teams sturggling will have to fall into place as well to improve the Wings standing.
