They have Stanley Cup Champion Tomas Kopecky. I saw it on their website at the beginning of the season, in big letters: The Chicago Blackhawks welcome Marion Hossa and Stanley Cup Champion Tomas Kopecky. He hasn't had his annual season-ending injury yet. That's how he wins cups. We must hope he stays healthy or we are screwed. /goofiness

Are you kidding? We still have to battle to get into the playoffs at all, and you're already talking about hoping that we'll finish 5th. We're like at least ten points behind 5th if not fifteen points behind. As I said earlier, we're finishing anywhere from 7-9, and I'll take anything but 9.

    What's up with Cleary?

I wouldn't say he isn't known for scoring... he's usually good for 20 goals and 20 helpers a year. That's respectable. He's not a star but he does everything pretty well. You're right, though, he's been terrible since the Olympic break and wasn't exactly hot before then. Cleary has a habit of scoring in bunches anyway, so once that first goal goes in we're golden. Same for Bertuzzi. If those two can get going again the Wings will be really rolling going into the playoffs. 2pts in 10 games = 0.2 ppg 0.2pt/g * 82g = 16.4pts [(40pt - 16.4pt)/(40pt)]*100% = 59% So there you go. That's a 59% difference between the current pace he's on and what he's expected to produce.

i woukd much rather they spend money on a player that can produce. (AKA Hudler)

I wasn't even aware he was up for a nomination because of all the press about how D & Z are no longer among the best two way players in the game. Plus, Datsyuk is on the 4th string of forwards for the PK.

I love that there is someone else on here that appreciates Flip as much as I do. Although, I will say Hudler is more gifted ioffensively and capable of racking up a higher point total than Filppula. My thing with Hudler is that he makes me nervous during 5 on 5 play and at times, can be a liability. He has had some pretty nice playoff games though, so hopefully he comes back and puts my fears to rest. Id be happy to have Happy back .

I doubt very very much that Ozzie goes anywhere, he has been an incredible mentor for Howard, and we havent even got to the part of the year that Ozzie will be able to help him the most...PLAYOFFS! There is NO goalie in the league I would rather have mentally Preparing and helping Jimmy this post season then Oz! A big reason Jimmy has been GREAT is Ozzie in my opinion any how.

The problem I have is the PK time. If Datsyu is the best defensive forward in the league, why is there 7 forwards on his team that have more PK time then him? Kesler is Vancouver's first choice on the PK. Also, Kesler's 66 blocked shots blows Datsyuk's 25 out of the water.

Agreed. Toews is a world-class player and the Hawks are lucky to have him... if this were a 1-8 or 2-7 match-up, it would be epic

This! This! A thousand times: THIS! The ideal goaltending situation is not to have a good goalie. The ideal goaltending situation is to have two good goalies at a very low price. We have the ideal goaltending situation. Do you people (the trade/resign/demote Ozzie people) really think that the last 2 playoff runs are not reason alone to keep him? He's not a regular season player, for some reason. He gets it done in the playoffs. If Howard breaks down or is injured, Ozzie will calmly step up to the plate (so to speak) and deliver. If Howard does well, Ozzie will be there guiding him along, helping him, and providing support and advise. You can't get that level of play in the playoffs, along with that kind of experience and that kind of mentoring, for much cheaper than we have Ozzie for.

Holmstrom has had a great season

    Atta boy Homer.

They should fear us. The Wings have a team full of Cup winners. The Hawks have yet to prove themselves giant slayers.

    What's up with Cleary?

He just hasn't been the same player since putting that visor on IMO. This guy once fought Chris "Physics" Pronger! Where are you Dan?

Theres also the factor that Hudler is a much better and effective player than Frolov

Maybe I'm missing something, but if Hudler wanted to play for the Wings so badly but knew money was an issue why not skip arbitration, sign a 1-year deal for less, then get the big contract after this season? I'm not faulting him for taking the money, but I have a hard time seeing how Hudler going to the KHL was doing the Wings a favor.

I'd much rather see this money spent on a free agent who isn't the size of a peewee player.

Jiri Hudler could cure cancer and AIDS, and it still wouldn't be good enough for you because you dislike him so much, quite often beyond any logic whatsoever.
  18. 1 point
I don't miss him personally, but his points would have been nice this year. For what Huds is locked up on, I'd rather see that money spent on a Free Agent that actually wants to play for the Detroit Red Wings.

Steve Downie with another questionable play

Because Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are all horrible hockey players and show zero leadership skills. Your love for Crosby is sickening. And stop complaining about negative ratings. People who complain about negative ratings deserve negative ratings.

    When Does Osgood Start?

Next season, he's still under contract.

Good news for you-- Datsyuk's been fantastic since the break.

If Frazen played 82 games I can see him hitting 40 to 45 goals.

Yeah Osgood has better rebound control, but Howard has better "keep the f*cking puck out of the back of the net control."
