Playing superbly. Has turned our dreadful 3rd line into our current most productive line. He hits, he plays with an edge, he's good on faceoffs, he goes hard to the net. Anyone else really, really like this guy? -

Should've been our 5 on 3. Of course, the way our PP is going, we should be declining PPs any way. -
3 pointsFans complain about the Wings. Crimson complains about fans complaining. Fans complain about Crymson's complaining about the fan's complaints. ... Typical GDT on a less than stellar weekday game night...

I can. I can easily imagine a Cup for every year of Borque's contract. But, to be honest, it kinda sickened me to see him win a Cup with the Avs after all those years in Boston. He was a great player but I kinda hold the Cup chasing against him a little for some reason. I feel like he shoulda stayed loyal to Boston... or came here. -

Do you honestly think that Howard could have stopped that? If anything, it was on Datsyuk. -

Man, I think it's interesting just how much respect Illitch has for the people around him. Some owners would have told him that their word was final. -
1 pointI guess you missed the clip from 13 years ago that was already posted (that you pretty much reposted), which is why I posted the 19 year old clip. But I guess the cutoff for age of clips to be used in a discussion is conveniently 13 years. Sucks for me I guess. Speaking of funny things... I find it funny how a thread (started by a Wings fan btw) that was about the Blues hot start and how well Halak is playing quickly turned into a thread about how many cups the Wings have, how few cups the Blues have, how great the Wings have been for the past 15 years and how much better the Wings have been than the Blues. Blues fans aren't the ones with the inferiority complex.

Who will be the whipping boys for '10-'11?
Nev reacted to IILeiBlazeII for a post in a topic
Not throwing them under the bus or anything (we are 8-3-1 right now afterall), but my whipping boys have become Hudler and Modano. I don't like the fact that they're getting special attention when the blue-collar boys that are really working at 110% (Miller and Eaves) are being forced to sit. Just because Huds and MikeyMo are sniper stars doesn't mean you should bench the players that are working their back ends off. Just my 2 cents. -

Why is St. Louis doing so good?
thegerkin gave a reaction for a post in a topic
I'm saying the angry inferiority complex your fanbase employs is hilarious and one to be mocked, much like the Red Sox fanbase concerning the Yankees just before they actually won their more recent series. I need only point to the Blues Kiel/Savvis/Scottrade Center's chants of "Red Wings suck" even when they don't play the Wings, as well as the many Blues forums that include emoticons of "Red Wings suck" as proof of this inferiority complex. Your fanbase is so affected by the Wings they chant against the Wings and not nearly as much for their own team. Now, if words are too difficult to grasp, then maybe some pictures might help, if you're more of a visual person.. -

My best friend is a huge Blues fan, and pretty much said the same thing cprice said. Young talent is starting to mesh well. They dont really have a super star, so the team isnt being built around anyone, so everyone is just working really hard to figure out how to win together...AS A TEAM. They have 4 very balanced lines, now add a very good goaltender and you got a winning combo. I think the true test for the Blues will be how they play against some of the stronger teams in the west. They havent played the Kings, Wings or Nucks yet. So I think we will have a good idea if the Blues are for real or not in a couple months. But even if they aren't a true contender yet, I think they will be next year or the following year. -

Jiri Hudler Watch Thread
Hockeymom1960 reacted to skyphoenix for a post in a topic
Hudler has no use to this team right now. He isn't good defensively and he isn't scoring. It's the same situation we had with Ville Leino last season. Also, I think he should sit most nights because Eaves and Miller both play very important roles on this team and they are doing their jobs right. Take one of them out and our PK is going to suffer. -

Your post was just plain rude... To suggest a spell checker is one thing to make fun of someones educational background is another entirely. Heaven forbid someone inconveniences you with their grammar and spelling. I am pretty sure no where in the forum rules does it say that only those with solid writing skills are allowed to post. -

Osgood may retire following this season
Zeowingsfan reacted to Doc Holliday for a post in a topic
I didn't say it was random, but I said that putting Detroit's playoff hopes on giving your rookie goaltender every game and keeping your backup completely cold was incredibly risky. I'm not talking playoffs. Yes. That is incorrect, as Babcock stated numerous times his goal was to make the playoffs, which was what his decision was based on. That wasn't what I said at all. I'm not talking playoffs. I'm talking if Howard simply was on a hot streak, got cold and then we had nothing else to go for. Howard was not an established goaltender and did not impress until this year. It is a huge gamble to give him Marty Brodeur type playing time in his first real season when that didn't need to be the case. I think you aren't grasping my position correctly, here. -

Osgood may retire following this season
Electrophile reacted to wingnut40 for a post in a topic
No. He needs more Cups. At least 1 or 2...and it makes it worse because if we had won it in 09 I think he would have gotten the Conn Smythe. He still hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves IMO, and he can't retire until he does.
