    The Next Move

There will be no trades for a forward this offseason, Holland isn't that stupid. Especially these high profile players where you're pretty much guaranteed to get screwed over. With the FA pool being so bad this year we acquired enough forwards that we can use them to trade for something we don't have enough of, defensemen. Are you people really that short sighted that when you hear a high profile player is on the trading block you don't even take into consideration the shape our team is in right now. We've upgraded our forwards already, now we have to trade for defence. Signing Doan or Semin is all you can ask for in forward department.

Yet you seem to be able to tell the future of hockey....I bet the kate upton thing happens before the Wild win a Cup... I'm sorry? I know Detroit is close to Canada, but it's not IN Canada...didn't see the Wild on the short list either, maybe because they aren't in Canada? $110M offer from teams that had no chance to sign them, but offered them the world to try to sway them...again you seem to be omitting the part about family. Parise "If it weren't for family I'd be back in NJ..." Suter "I was leaning towards Detroit but decided to play where my family is" I hate to break it to you, but Minny ONLY got them because of family, they said themselves. I said it before, if their families lived in Seattle, WA they'd be playing for the Canucks...if they were from Fort Lauderdale, they be Panthers...what part of that do yo not understand? They didn't go to Minny because of their great team or stellar future...THEY WENT FOR FAMILY! And it took MORE money to get them there! Hey, if their families were from Ann Arbor, MI. guess where they'd be playing? Are you 12?

Hold on now! Everyone Hold On! I admit, I want Holland to trade some of the yoots to get Ryan or Nash or Yandle...but just a minute centcougar. Some of us have said, the yoot movement will not work, they are too green, but there are some who say, they a really good and should be given a chance to prove themselves...ok, nobody knows which side will be correct in the end, but I'll be damned if another teams fan is going to come in here saying Detroit has noone to replace Lidstrom or Stuart and Brunner is the biggest signing so Wings are gonna suck because of their unproven talent....HUH!?!? All this from a guy who touts the Wild's awesome future based on what? Unproven talent! Sure Mikail Granule of Salt is a very VERY good prospect, but so is Nyquist, so is Tatar, so is Mursak... You come in here and say Detroit needs to replace all these guys in order to be good, yet you tout the Wild as perennial Stanley Cup Champs because of unproven NHL talent... Your kid Granook or whatever the hell name it is, has yet to prove anything in the NHL, he could flop or he could excel! NOBODY knows! So don't come in here saying you KNOW that Nyquist or Smith or Brunner are going to flop and the team is gonna suck if Holland doesn't make some moves to get established guys...How dare you! Like I said, your Wild has a 3 year window and its over....you'll say goodbye to Heatley, The Gooch, Clutterbuck soon, you may not even keep your goalie...Your yoots may flop out because they cannot handle the NHL, NOBODY knows what a player is going to bring until they bring it...let's talk next July after we see who is good and who isn't! and for your Young Guns analogy, I wouldn't give a drop of sweat off the guys ******* that made that bucket that I am going to piss in for YOUR future... and before you go quoting me saying trade Mursak, trade Tatar, etc...I never said they weren't NHL ready...I said we have plenty of talent to replace them if they were needed to acquire Nash or Ryan... It's funny how you come here and say one team is gonna suck because of unproven, yet highly touted talent and in the same s*** soiled breath you say another will be Champs with unproven, yet highly touted talent! I pity whoever marries you and if you have children, what's next you voted for the war, now you are against it? Let me quote another movie "Do us a favor, make like a tree and get out of here!"

LOL. What Cup is that? The cup of Christ? Howard would have to steal every playoff series for us to win. So far, he's been decent in his career, but nothing spectacular in the playoffs. He's only beaten Bryzgalov and that's it.

Smith replaces Lidstrom? Kindl replaces Stuart? More like Kronwall replaces Lids, Quincey replaces Stuart and we still need a top 4 d-man. esteef

    Holland waiting for the CBA?

The thing is that when you direct your entire game plan into signing 1 or 2 UFAs that nothing is guaranteed. I think most Wings fans, myself included, thought that just because the Wings had the need and the Cap space that signing Suter and Parise was all but given. We heard all the rumours throughout the season and we all waited anxiously for July 1st to come. When we did not get either Suter or Parise, we were all left disappointed. We all thought Kenny would have a Plan B in place and as of right now we don't really know what that is. It looks to me like the plan is to basically go with what we have and hope for the best and possibly add players this summer or during the season and at the trade deadline. The problem with this is that every other team in the league is trying to do the same thing. The players we are interested in are also being pursued by the same teams like Pitt, Philly, Rangers, Sharks, Hawks, etc. Just to name a few. Kenny seems to operate under the SAVE IT FOR A RAINY DAY PLAN. You can't keep waiting for tomorrow to solve your problems. If teams go over the Cap in the new CBA then they will not let go of their quality players. They will trim the fat by losing their crappy ones. Kenny is supposed to sign these guys? LOL Yeah right. I mean it's a nice theory but inaccurate. Lets face it. Kenny has few options right now. He is not willing subtract anything of real value. So why would teams make a trade with him? They are not going to take our crap like Emmerton, Kindl or Mursak and give him franchise players. Kenny is not really willing to give to get so nothing of significance is going to happen. If I were a GM I would not make a trade with Kenny either. How am I improving my team? He won't give me anything. I will simply call up another GM who is and make a trade with him.

    Holland waiting for the CBA?

It seems like he's always waiting for something. Last offseason it was, oh we have a little bit of money so we'll wait for the trade deadline. Trade deadline comes, oh nothing was available we'll wait for the offseason. This offseason comes, strikes out on (potentially) three big name FA's (suter, parise, semin?) Oh well we'll wait for a new CBA.

You truly do live in your own little world don't you? http://www.hockeypro...rticleid=1347 Take a look at where the pro scouts rank the prospects...just keep quoting your 2009 prospect analysis... You didn't discredit anyone...please indulge us...tell me how Granuts is going to blow away all of Getzky's records and lead Minny to 1900 straight Stanley Cups...Heatley is already being talked about in trade scenarios, plus you don't have to have knowledge of a organization when you have the internet..words dont lie, if the Wild dont win in 3 years, the ride starts all over! Oh and about Tatar sharpening Grandrools skates...hmmmm, just checked the stats, your boy has never top 57 points EVER in his career, yet Tatar has twice PLUS has 3 years of North American hockey under his belt...your boy hasn't played here yet...hmmmm, not a fortune teller BUT he COULD be in for a bit of a shock...maybe, maybe not...point is, he hasn't proven anything and neither has Tatar, yet you are awarding your team the Cup based on him probing nothing so far and in the same sentence saying Detroit has no chance EVER because Tatar cannot sharpen skates? I can quote their stats for you if you'd like, but since you know everything about Detroit's prospects and organization, I will spare the rest of the users... Hmmm let's see: I'll put this one in just in case you cannot read...

Nice to see Bobby Ryan videos in the Doan thread. Cool. Back to Doan I don't see us signing him. He's wanting a 4-5 deal? lol. Let the Canucks have him...

    Semin

Why are we even talking about this? We just ran a guy out of town in Hudler, who (although less gifted) gave more effort and played with more grit than Semin ever has, and that doesn't say much... yet he took SOO much flak for being lazy and soft... if you don't like lazy and soft, your head would explode with Semin here... he is the exact type of player we don't need... and before anyone even says it, points only count when you actually score them, want to look at that stat sheet and remind yourself the last time he put up 40 goals and/or a 60+ point season? Oh yea, and lets not forget the stunning playoff performances he's had the last few years as well... This board is so bi-polar sometimes it's mind blowing....

Look at how much parity there is in the league. We aren't the leafs so we aren't guaranteed not to make the playoffs.

Ha ha. I'll make you famous.

Considering 8 of those players are considered some of the best to ever player the game, and most people compare the 02 team to icing an All-Star team, so yeah....rare case .

    Ken Holland, Post-Scotty Bowman

Fact: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Filppula, Kronwall, Franzen, Quincey, Eriksson, Helm, Howard, Hudler, Abdelkader, Smith, and Nyquist were all scouted and drafted by people not named Scotty Bowman. Datsyuk was the first of those listed to be drafted (1998). Ken Holland was named sole GM of the team in 1997. Scotty Bowman didn't have s*** to do with it. Nobody is trying to undermine what Scotty did for the team, but to suggest that Holland has not drafted anyone worth a damn during his tenure, and that all the success the team has seen under Holland should really be given to Bowman is retarded. Bowman was the GM from 1993-1997. Here's a quick look at his most prominant drafts: Anders Eriksson Norm Maracle Mathieu Dandenault Tomas Holmstrom Yuri Butsayev Additionally, Yzerman, Osgood, Fedorov, Konstantinov, Kozlov, Primeau, McCarty, Lidstrom, and Lapointe were all drafted before Scotty joined the organization. Your honor, I rest my case.

Sammy and Brunner are improvements over Hudler. Sammy puts up comparable numbers, but also plays a way better 2-way game. Meanwhile Brunner is a right handed sniper with way better wheels and seemingly more creativity. Both are also improvements over the 1-dimensional Homer. Sammy can play the point on the PP and Brunner brings more than just standing in front of the net taking penalties to negate half our PP's, he is fast and can clearly move the puck better, but can also hang on to it and make things happen. Nyquist won't replace Miller cause Miller should be full time on the 4th line. He earned his spot on the team. Nyquist will rotate between 1-3 and should be just fine defensively cause he's good at stealing the puck and has really good wheels to backcheck, unlike Hudler...have fun getting 38 points this year for the Flames, whom suck hard. No one replaces Lidstrom...end of story. In saying that, Smith is my candidate for the Calder Trophy. He has all the tools to be a top 2 dman and has a nose for the net and is a tough SOB. I predict he will ultimately surpass Kronner on the Wings depth chart and that's from a huge Kronwall fan. Didn't improve offensively? We lost Hudler and gained Sammy to offset his scoring, Tootoo, whom on a team that gets F all for scoring, got 35ish points on the 3rd/4th lines and added the Swiss Elite league scoring champ who was also a point per game at the world championships. How many we're doomed threads are you going to make this offseason? We're a week and a bit into free agency and there's 3 months until the season starts, if it starts...

The reason the Wings have to pick up Doan is rather simple: We need to replace this face... With this one... Think of the photoshoppers Kenny, those innocent little photoshoppers.

Actually, if its around here, it sounds like the opposite of that Mitch Albom story. I guess we have started our decline and lost our luster according to the fans here. Only one fan has posted a positive story, everything else is gloom and doom.

Doan for 3 years please....not just a one year chance at a Cup....he'll want to go where he can win a Cup, but he will need a year just to get into our system 100%. Three years $5.5M please! Still leaves plenty of cap room...we need to get these types of UFA's in here, because they attract others...If Doan comes here, has a great time and gets into playoffs, guarantee he is respected enough among the players that UFA's next July will be calling him asking about his experience and if Detroit is the place to be...I don't think Semin would have the same affect, lets say, on Corey Perry or Ryan Getzlaf or even Shea Weber as Shane Doan would...just my $.02 worth....

    Semin

How long has it been since we had a guy who could pick the corners? 2009...Hossa? He only had a measly 40 goals that season and drew enough defensive attention to allow Franzen a career year. However, I don't care if Semin came here and didn't put up 40. If he had 25, Franzen had 25, Datsyuk had 20 and about 50 assists, I'd be thrilled. How is that not better than Datsyuk at 20, Franzen at 28, and Bertuzzi at 14? Plus, this allows us to put Bertuzzi and Sammy, or Bertuzzi and Cleary on the third line, which is a mismatch against most teams in the league. Finally, as I've said all along. The criticisms of Semin are more appropriately criticisms of Bruce Boudreau, under who's tutelage each and every single member of the Washington Capitals could be termed a "lazy, unmotivated, inconsistent, under achiever". I like this signing...especially at this point.

He'll probably go to Pittsburgh, Crosby has made it clear he needs some Semen in his life.
