As I've said before several times, I'm confused as to what our current identity is and what it will be in the future. For a long time, this team has been built on puck possession and skill. It started from having great defensemen who could make terrific breakout passes, and top two forward lines with tremendous skill. I don't think we're that good anymore, especially on the blueline to play this style effectively. At the same time, there's another way to succeed. Hot goaltending mixed with solid defense, and a tight checking game that wears teams down. Needless to say, we don't have that either. I think this team will be average all season because we're not good enough go glide past teams anymore, and don't work hard enough to outwork anyone either. I have no clue what the future pool of prospects will amount to, in regards to what kind of hockey the Wings will play in the future. Do we have enough skill to be a great puck possession team down the line? Are we tough enough and solid enough defensively to win games that way in the future?

Where are these guys that you speak of? Suter ? We put a huge offer out for him..he was never coming here..he wanted to play in Minny..end of conversation on that one. Check out that link with the top defensive scorers on it. There isn't one guy in the top 30 that is head and shoulders above the rest. Alot of really good guys there but spending 10 mil a year on any of those guys is crazy. What? Obviously the return on investement on Colo, Sammy and Gustavsson is still up for debate because they have been injured. Tootoo has done everything they would've wanted out of him so far..he's been physical, dropped the gloves and changed the flow of games when we needed it. Bert is what he is, 3rd line guy..10-15 goals a year..good contract..good team guy. Quincey would be tolerable if we didnt give up a 1st for him..that one hurts. Huskins was an emergency guy playing for peanuts and doing everything they asked of him. Get over the Parise and Suter thing..you don't get it..they were never playing here..we offered them huge money and they wanted to play in Minny.

As soon as Gustavsson is back from injury Mrazek will be back down in the minors if not sooner. And thats where he should be getting starters minutes not backup minutes in Detroit. This is Howards team. That article lost all its credibility once it said that Howard has been average this year.

Franzen could quite possibly be the worst fighter in the NHL, but if he went buckets and gloves off with Backes I'd lose my s***. Franzen has punked Backes a few times, hitting him or punching him and Backes lays on the ice looking for a call, it'd be pretty good to see em go. As far as the spear, it was pretty funny. Gutty and everything, but it's Franzen guys, the gloved punch king. As long as he isn't the one diving it's a win for Detroit.

Just wanted to point this out: Ogre is comparing Tatar's rookie year in the AHL with Emmerton's 4th professional year (which was his most productive year in GR). Oh and Tatar was the youngest player in the entire AHL that year. Tatar's AHL stats this year: 19g/20a/39pts in 44games => 0.89 points per game (pro rated to 71pts in an 80 game AHL season). Just to further reenforce Ogre here: Tatar is tied for 8th in the entire AHL in points and 8th in goals scored despite having missed games due to his NHL call-up. I can't believe people still respond to Richdg-- he was exposed as a Wild fan that came to troll here back in the summer. We should give Holland the benefit of the doubt here.. so far he's shown a willingness to keep Lashoff up (although it appears Huskins is getting some time off after that big hit) despite having 6 NHL d-men on the roster and is scratching an NHL forward to keep Tatar on the roster (Eaves sat last night for Tatar).

Moore did answer the bell. He fought Cooke in the first period of that game. Vancouver apparently didn't think it was enough. If people want to discuss the code, what they think it means, if it's still relevant, then have at it but we don't really need to rehash the Bertuzzi incident, which has been debated here countless times. It happened 9 years ago. I don't think anyone's opinion will be changed now.

My brother has a red light that looks just like a goal light, it spins and whatnot. He has it hooked up to The Clapper, so when there is a goal and someone claps or even a loud, sharp "YEAH!!", it goes off. Pretty cool...and not much $$.
