Divine intervention. Too good too soon, crash and burn come playoff time. But right now, they have what it takes.

Dallas feels like trading away their good players, lets go with Loui Eriksson. Get the WC line of Eriksson-Z-Mule back together and give Dats Brunner and Tatar and I poop myself from extreme happiness.

    Emmerton

Emmerton's here because his defense is very good, he doesn't make stupid mistakes and he doesn't take dumb penalties. He'll never be some offensive superstar but it's more our fault for wanting that out of a 4th line grunt. He doesn't really have an identity and he doesn't make huge offensive players or hits. And if we can't label or identify a guy, we turn on him. We need players to be easily identifiable. Every player has their rep, Emmerton's more of a blank slate and without an obvious reason to look at him, we turn into ****** bags and hate him. He's quietly got a really good set of hands and can get a shot off quickly, too. He's also a good PKer. I'm fine with him as a 4th liner. He also was rarely a minus player last season and hasn't been a minus in any game thus far. Sometimes it's just good to have a reliable vanilla player who doesn't screw up. Yup, they're always dense and you've always got the right answer that an entire hockey organization doesn't have.

    Thoughts on the Blackhawks

I hate them as much as the next guy. Even as they underachieved the last couple of seasons, they ALWAYS brought their A+ game when they played the Wings. Crawford always seems to play like Patrick Roy when they play us... But is anyone really that surprised as to how well they are playing right now? In my opinion, they have the deepest forward set in the entire league and I don't think it is really that close. Elite: Toews, Sharp, Hossa, Kane. I think that is the best top 4 in hockey. Secondary: Bolland, Frolik, Stalberg. Frolik is an underachiever, but I think for a secondary spot he is a nice get. I'm pretty sure I would take Bolland over Filppula. Bottom: Bickell, Shaw, Kruger, Saad. Excellent mix of youth and size. Bickell can get you at least 10 and I've liked what I've seen from the other three. They have a top 5 d-man (Keith) a top 15 d-man (Seabrook) and another solid one (Hjalmarsson). And I think that Crawford is a lot better than people want to admit. I was just thinking this as they have put this pretty incredible run together. To me, it is not all that surprising.

Good job by the Red Wings defense. And Kudos to Gustavsson! SJ is forechecking heavily and pressing hard. Overall, good game by the Wings. Time for a goal now (sniper Brunner?). It will require a lot of work and much energy to win this, whilst SJ has the advantage with the 1 day rest. Go for it, guys!

Am I the only one getting the Wings feed on CI? Lol, I dunno what'd I'd do if I had to listen to Drew Remenda for two straight games.

Should Howard skate and kneel like Luongo did? I REAAALLY want to be the ones to break their streak but if CBJ were the ones to end I'd love it too. Can you imagine though..."The Columbus Blue Jackets end The Blackhawks 20 game winning streak" That would be pretty funny IMO

You gotta switch the lines up... Zetterberg is in a slump looks very sluggish lately... Abdelkader sucks at least Cleary can shoot

no kidding. the amount that Babcock changes the lines up on a regular basis it's absurd that he's keeping the worst line together that is doing absolutely nothing. Dats' points are going to s*** on that line. what a waste.

It would be nice if Mickey Redmond would stop selling out to that ambulance-chasing law firm.

the most frustrating part is not changing his linemates for even a shift to see if anything else works

Pretty inept offense for the 3rd straight period. It's so depressing watching Datsyuk play with those two pylons.

We can't play Abby and Cleary in the top 6 against a team like San Jose. It's just stupid, I can see us getting shut out already.

Yesterday I accidentally touched my unlucky shirt when I was getting dressed for work. I did text one friend to tell another friend to post the Counteractive Image in a chatbox that I frequent, but it seems that since I had left for work, it was not only fruitless, but totally devoid of produce of any kind. Tonight the unlucky shirt is safely away, and this shall not happen. The refs will neither blow nor intend to unless there is a valid reason. We shall be victorious. Personally, I'm bothered by that second line as well. I can't wait to get Sammy and Bert back. Pasha steals the puck, dangles and dekes, throws it to Sammy. Sammy onetimes high and to the right. Bert glares everyone else away from the puck, goes in the corner, fights for it, loses a couple more teeth. Pasha steals the puck back. Lather, rinse, repeat. No one scores against that line. We kill the clock, maybe pot a goal or two if Sammy tweaks something whilst shooting, and hold the lead.

    Milbury rips Ovechkin

I for one like Milbury, and he is spot on for doing it. It was painful to watch that game, as I was pulling a little for the Caps to beat the Flyers...but just a shameful night for Ovie through and through.

Worthless? Seriously? I think your crush on Flip is coloring your interpretation of what I wrote a little too much. All I'm saying is it comes down to is the front office's expectations of what type of player Val would be for them going forward & whether the two sides agree to how much that's worth. It's all a value equation, that's no different for Val than it is for any other player. Let's take a look at two examples from last season, Hudler & Stuart. There was plenty of chatter in the media about neither re-signing with Huds wanting more money & a larger role on the team & Stewie wanting to go back to Cali for family reasons. Even though neither were obviously traded at the deadline despite Kenny knowing they weren't going to re-sign, you better believe it was considered. If their current+future value to the team is less than the value of what the Wings are offered in return, it can & will happen. While Huds & Stewie held no future value to the team at the trade deadline last season, they held current value at the time because the Wings were jockeying for playoff position. If they were out of the playoff hunt, current value is nil & the chances of both being traded at the deadline would have been damn close to 100% as far as I'm concerned. So let's say that Val & his agent want him paid like a top 6 defensively responsible forward who plays in all situations & puts up around 70 points a season like he did last year. We're talking Kesler/Bergeron range so put it at $5m+ a year. What if Kenny & his staff think his ceiling is the 40 point range which is worth $3.75-4m a year, Val & his agent disagree and say unless you pay him he's gone? Not out of the realm of possibility at all. (See Hudler, Jiri) If the Wings are out of the playoff hunt at the deadline, they're sure Val is going to sign somewhere else, & a playoff team is willing to offer picks and/or prospects to rent him for a run at The Cup, Kenny would be insane not to consider it. If the Wings front office doesn't know the price they would ask for every player in their organization, not just UFAs/RFAs but current rosters players & prospects too, no matter the circumstance i.e. lock for playoffs, in contention, out of the race, etc., they aren't doing their jobs. To say with 100% certainly that a player would never be traded is just ridiculous. Better believe that right now Kenny has a good idea what it would take for him to trade even Pavel. There's always a price, it's just whether or not you can find someone to meet it.
