Kane, Moulson, St. Louis up for Lady Byng

Even more shocking is that Lidstrom never won it. He is the epitome of what the award is for.

This is three years in a row now in the playoffs that Torres has leveled a controversial hit, all with three different teams.
  11. 1 point
Torres has a history and it's hard to give him the benefit of doubt, but he didn't jump, he didn't throw an elbow, he didn't take strides before the check, the shoulder was the initial point of contact, and in my opinion the head was only contacted because Stoll reached for the puck and was on his back way up which shifted the position of his head and shoulders. The only valid argument I can see against Torres is that the check was reckless, but I'd argue that Stoll was even more reckless for reaching for a puck. Bad things happen to you when you reach for the puck. The NHL is shifting blame on the checking player, and I think it's unfair because that's a hit Torres needs to make (just like Gryba needed to make that hit last round) and the hit would have been clean if Stoll stayed in the leaning forward position. I could see 1-2 for a reckless hit with incidental contact to the head given Torres' history, but a potential 6 game suspension in the playoffs for this hit is entirely too much. Just my 2 cents.

I had to take a double take after seeing Kane, I was confident it was going to say "Evander" before that name.

St. Louis has this in the bag.

Kane being nominated is an insult to the award and all previous winners. Hard to not take his off-ice conduct into account here.

There's a reason the wings haven't loss consecutive games in a month. These guys have a lot of heart and a desire to win. I'm willing to chalk game 1 up to exhaustion after that gruelling 7 gamer against the Ducks. They obviously need to limit the turnovers and find a way to get Brendan smith to calm down. If they do those things and play with the heart and desire that they played with in the first round, I'm sure they'll win game 2 Statement game upcoming

    What does Babs do?

Kenny"s MO this summer should be to get a solid veteran stay-at-home guy to pair with Smith if they have any interest in developing him properly. If not, trade him. But yeah, something like this: Kronwall - Ericsson Kindl - DeKeyser Smith - Scuderi Quincey would have to be moved.

    Babs confident Datsyuk will stay

I keep a deep faith in my heart that he will stay. However, I plan on talking to him at camp about this, and be assured there will be massive amounts of groveling if necessary. As the old song says, I ain't too proud to beg.

/rant on Flat out zero organization the whole game. Hardly any tape-to-tape passes - offensive, defensive, and neutral zone. More "throw it toward somebody and hope for the best" - not the way to be a puck possession team. I'd make the team do passing drills at speed from net to net all this morning. And just tentative as hell. If by some miracle we get it through the neutral zone it's almost like the blue line scares us. Can't enter the zone with the puck? Dump it in and fight 3 guys for it. Where is the support? I'm triple teamed - somebody is freaking open! Nope - they have two support guys ready to scoop up the puck if it squirts out. Nonexistant transition game. If it gets out of the zone, then go for a change - you've done your job. Move your feet! Bad decisions! Going to the net with the puck? Let me pass it behind me to someone who has two guys on him. The HELL? It's just you and the goalie, man! Shoot the puck! On PK, let me try to skate the puck out rather than lofting it when I get a stick on it. You get a stick on it, you freaking clear it! And Smith. Jesus what is his problem? Yea, he's green, but he's been increasing his defensive zone turnovers since game 1 of the first round. Sh*t, sit the kid and bring Whitey in. Anybody at this point. And WHAT is the deal with third periods this year!? It's like the guys are unionized to play 50 minutes per game with a 10 minute break, and by Gods they're going to get that break in. Ahead by 3 goals or even, we're having tea on the bench during at least half the third. Sixty minutes of effort! They left Howie out to dry last night. Hawks are good and all, but a lot of that the Wings did to themselves. The good news is, the Ducks series showed that the Wings can play (some games) with none of these problems. If you guys play like that again, you need to be shining up the clubs, because clearly you've given up on hockey for this season. /rant off

A quick one timer from the slot to the upper corner by one of the top snipers in the league and perfect shot off the post from a man left wide open between the circles is considered weak? Good lord people.

22 Consecutive Playoff Appearances Recapped in 22 Minutes

Geez being 22 I obviously didn't get to see a lot of this stuff but wow. Federovs pass through his legs or Stevie y shot from center ice have to be my favorites.
