I think if we could only ice a lineup looking like this: Jurco-Datsyuk-Alfredsson Miller-Andersson-Tatar Cleary-Glendening-Eaves Bertuzzi-Sheahan-Samuelsson things would turn around. Very balanced lines, each line has a scorer (Alfie, Tatar, Eaves, Sammy) a great puck-carrying center and a playmaker. With this our 2nd PP unit would look something like: Cleary-Tatar-Eaves Kindl-Sammy and I can't imagine that not being an effective unit.

Daniel Cleary is out after getting lost returning from the dentist. He called Head Coach Mike Babcock earlier this morning assuring him that he would be there for the morning skate. "It's easy." He said. "I just go to the same street as the captain's jersey number, and then turn at the street with my jersey number. I've been doing it for years." Brenden Smith and Reiley Sheahan did not report for practice although a bail-bondsman is quoted as saying that they are game-time decisions. Jurco, Nyquist, Tatar, and Lashoff are grounded after sneaking out of the house past their curfew. Their mommies said that they knew the consequences and maybe now they'll think twice about running about on a game night. Several other team members were reportedly rocking back and forth in their locker stalls, unable to bring themselves to dress. I feel like the threat of a possible $2-3 million hit is, for the Red Wings at least, not a very big deal. Just look at our current roster: we have at least two or three "penalties" in Quincey, Cleary, and Samuelsson. That's roughly $10 million that could've been put towards a quality free agent or a great trade opportunity or what have you. Yet, we're still a very good, competitive team. We should stick with Franzen.
