While we are all sending best wishes to the Howe family, I though it would be worthwhile to unearth this clip of "Mr Hockey" in his prime. And playing against Maurice "Rocket" Richard, no less. This 8mm color film was recently converted by my company, Priceless Photo Preservation of Ann Arbor, for the family of the late Richard Maher, who was fortunate enough to have great seats in the Olympia the one night he brought his movie camera. I can't tell you the exact year because it is not marked on the film. But I've done a little detective work (detailed in the blog post) that narrows it down to 1958-1960. Perhaps some of you would like to take a stab at figuring it out? By the way, I don't belive No. 7 in the Red Wings jersey is Ted Lindsay. If my time period is correct, this happened a year or two after he was traded away from Detroit.

Agreed. But still, no matter how effective he may be, 32% is unlikely to continue. He's also on pace for 57 goals. I can see him ending up with 30-40, which would still be amazing, we haven't had that since 08/09. Dats and z are racking up points too, so we have three guys 4 if you include Abby, which may be premature that could potentially get us 70+ points and lots and lots of goals, if tats, sheahan and jurco can get going too, we could be very dangerous.

Great to see Ericsson go after Nolan for that hit from behind. Had they actually squared off Ericsson would've had his hands full with Nolan, but I still like that he went right at him. Im' a fan of Nolan generally, but that was a clear hit from behind. Looking away isn't an excuse for hitting a guy in the numbers.

(And I'm conceding to the fact that refs will miss your average penalty call here and there) All I know is, for the first time in years. We've got amazing leadership+team speed that we didn't have during our dynasty years. But yeah. Even with that said. Those figures are reliant on some goodluck.
