I just don't understand how Pronger could have taken a job with the league and not forced to retire as a player first. Now basement teams are gonna reach the cap floor with bulls*** contracts like Pronger, when they should be forced to take on players like Weiss.

Holland doesn't sign small old slow wingers to move them to center. And our d will probably look the same, with Xavier oulette and/or marchenko on the team. But it'll be alright.

The Wings will pursue Green hard, get outbid again by someone else in free agency (which is fine in this case) and then just continue to fill the roster internally. I really don't expect much of anything come July 1st. With Blashill and the wave of prospects coming, I'm OK with that.

    #19 OA Evgeny Svechnikov

I've always liked Helm on the wing, I think his speed makes him much more dangerous offensively on the boards than it does down the middle. For the same reason, I think Athanasiou would be much more effective as a winger at the NHL level. Both players are huge assets because of their speed and versatility. I don't think Helm should be going anywhere. I doubt it will take Svechnikov 4 years to crack the Red Wings lineup, but I don't think it will be a year either. My guess would be 2-3 years. He's not eligible to play in the AHL next season, so he will be sent back to the Q for another year. I would guess he will play at least one season in Grand Rapids the following year, then possibly make the Red Wings in the 2017-18 season. I think the '17-18 season is going to be a good one. New Arena for all these stud kids we're going to have coming up over the next few seasons...

Red Wings 19th overall pick. I think it's a good one and the fact they say he is pro ready is realgud. Can't wait for training camp this year to see how these kids perform.

all it would take is outscoring them, so no.I want them to win out because they scored more then Mcdavid and eichel. It would tickle my jimmies pink. PINK! If blashill is as high on Larkin as it seems like he is, I could see him winning a job out of camp.He was scoring a ppg during the playoffs in grand rapids, while playing great defensive hockey. He's got a good chance, especially if helm stays on the wing, and if Franzen can't return.

Any red wing winning the Calder next year would be a stretch with mcdavid and Eichel coming up. Maybe we should hold them back one more year so they can go for the award in 2017

I love the thick accent and the fact that his English is as good as datsyuks English is. I'm very excited for him after watching some of his highlights. He could be a force in the nhl in a few years, young big power forward

I am also very excited for this.I'm thinking they're going to want to develop svech at center, all the twitter updates, and reports I seen had him listed as a center. Which will be cool, we need another Russian center to get here soon.

    2015 Draft

We absolutely have the assets. However, it would destroy our team. We need defensemen right now.

I don't disagree with you there. A true #1 defenseman with an offensive side and capable of being a PP QB would be nice. Holland seemed to put all his eggs in one basket with assuming he'd get Suter, and when that didn't happen, he sort of did nothing. At the same time, the Wings just don't have a lot to offer in terms of assets. Since Suter, I don't think there's really been a whole lot out there in terms of defensemen who fit with what the Wings need at a price that makes sense.

He's very talented. He will be great for the Wings for years to come.

    2015 Draft

Was it a sad day when you got fired from Detroit's scouting staff? Always agreed with a lot of what you said on here but you're not having a good day are you? When you start agreeing with Frank "lil Don Cherry" Grime's comments, you know there's something wrong. No? My opinion on this draft? Holland and company are getting creative and none of you know enough about Red Wings hockey operations to understand what they're doing. I still remember the epic LOL meltdown LGWings had when they drafted Bertuzzi in the 2nd round. Looks like that might have been a good idea after all.

I'll pretend to support you, but then complain to everyone who will listen because you play too soft.

I agree. I'm mostly just being a jerk. I don't want the competition to succeed at all. Even Stevie. I just can't cheer for the GM of the team that dealt the Wings their most recent playoff loss. Same way I won't be hoping for Babcock to win the Jack Adams anytime soon.

    OT Changes

Glad Babcock's gone. I don't think I could watch Miller-Glendenning-Ericsson for two and a half minutes of OT.

    Will Wings Revisit Signing Phaneuf?

Have you been watching hockey for 5 minutes? Gretzky, Lemieux, Hasek, Roy, Jagr, Sakic, Bourque, Yzerman, Lindros, Chelios, Bure, Forsberg, Fedorov, Brodeur, Belfour, Messier, Hull, LaFontaine, Selanne, Francis, MacInnis, Mogilny, Gilmour, Leetch, Oates, Neely, Shanahan, Roenick, etc. Name me today's best players and we'll have a nice laugh as to which generation is better. The generational talent was way better in the 90's, because the great players of the 80's were still strong, and the 90's were loaded with great young players from Europe. In fact, I don't think there's ever been as much talent in the NHL as there were in the 90's. Read post above. The hitting and fighting isn't the only reason the game was better. There were more great players in the game back then than there's ever been. You can't come up with a comparative list of talent in today's generation. The pool isn't that deep.

    Will Wings Revisit Signing Phaneuf?

Crossing the blue line was a death wish in the 90s. Wish the game was still played like that.
