    In the latter rounds. I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that the Wings are great at drafting in the first round. With the exception of the past few years and Kronwall, our first round picks have not been the best, I dont think anyone is arguing that.

    I think the first mistake people make is thinking first rounders are guaranteed impact players. They're not. For the past 10 years we have not picked very high. If you want to say we are not successful at it, at least give a comparable. What team has picked that low for the past decade and has so much more to show for it?

    The Wings also didn't draft in the first round 5 times from 2000-2010, and the highest they picked was 15th in 2010. That's the result of being a yearly contender.

    Well, the cap came into effect in 2005. Many predicted the Wings to be in the bottom of the league within a few years. It took 12, with two finals appearances and one Cup along the way. Not bad.

    My building is having a holiday (christmas) party in about 45 min (free booze) and ive got the game going on the lounge TV. It goes without saying I will be showing these west coast ding dongs how to drink like a Detroiter and enjoy real sports.
