The big change to our roster if we still had Vladdy would have been no Chelios. I read an article a few years ago written by Chelios himself where he flat out says that he was Vladdy's replacement.

Vladdy would have been 37 at the end of the 03-04 season, so, 38 coming out of the lockout. I'm not even sure if he would have still been playing at that point. And if he did, I'm sure that he wouldn't be making Lidstrom money.

No, it doesn´t work. This logic is cascaded on national levels as well, as derblaueClaus mentioned above. Every single national soccer league is working the same - you´ve got like 2-3 teams who are in the mix (and that´s the good scenario), the rest is just to have schedule filled. What´s the league about, where 80% of teams would like to play safety mid.

Yeah probably a finesse guy. I see three end results for this kid: 1. Datsyuk (light) - Proficient in both ends. Mad dangles. Speedier than Dats + slick steals. Top 6 player. 2. Ales Hemsky (light) - Average in both ends. Mad dangles. Awesome Speed. Middle 6 player. (AA is speedier, Hemsky better instincts) 3. Paul Bryron - Below average in both ends. Mad dangles. Awesome speed. 3rd line player. I think he was a young #3 last season with a lot more potential. I'd like him to step up and be a #2. And I recognize that comparing him to Hemsky and Dastyuk is a little ambitious numbers wise, but I think they share relatively the same skill set as players. Ironically, Franzen didn't make my list of comparable players...
