I was really hoping we'd draft Bode Wilde with one of our two 2nd rounders. I'm loving the McIsaac pick, and maybe Berggren turns out to be a stud, but looking at what Wilde has done early on this season, I'd make that trade (Berggren for Wilde) in a heart beat. We need some blue chip defense prospects, and Wilde is looking like he could be just that. Big, right-handed, smooth-skating, two-way defenseman, that is solid in all three zone. 5 goals, 15 assists through 17 games with Saginaw of the OHL. He scored this beauty last night in OT...

Exactly. Howard's rebound control is good when the shots aren't from in tight.

One thing I've noticed is that the team is doing a GREAT job of keeping guys on the outside. Remember 8 years ago when we were getting 50 crappy shots a game and only scoring 2 goals? Samuelsson with 15 sog every night from 45 feet away in the goalies chest? Well, seems like we've been on the other side of that coin recently.

I haven't been saying much about Howard or the goaltending in general, mainly because I kinda don't want to jinx things...but it really needs to be said: Howard and Bernier have both been outstanding for us over the past ten games or so. IMO, goaltending's the biggest reason why the team's had a great November. Is this level of goaltending sustainable? Probably not. But this is a good lesson in how valuable solid goaltending can be.
