Don't comment on how bad Vancouver's Dawali jerseys looked. -
1 pointIt's the entire reason I loathe that podcast. I don't care about the terrible "take" to be honest. It was how self-righteous they were about it. Like, they were very explicit sometimes with their "you'd have to be an idiot not to see how good Zadina is" narrative. Then, unsurprisingly, Zadina WAS just as bad as everyone else thought and it was crickets from those guys. They just moved on to the next thing. Their boy Prashanth Iyer of the "Expected by Who" podcast does the same s***. He once penned an article entitled "Brenden Smith really is that damn good" for Winging It in Motown. In the article he compared Smith favorably to guys like Hedman, Doughty, and Lindholm. I pressed him once on Twitter about Smith and he was insanely rude about the whole thing. Then - surprise - Smith sucks and he just conveniently never mentioned it again. I don't respect people in the "take" business if they don't spend as much time analyzing what they got wrong as what they got right. If you say "Zadina is dominant and you're a fool if you don't agree" and then he ISN'T dominant then you pretty much HAVE to analyze why you were wrong or else you have no credibility. And if you have no credibility then why would anyone care about your "takes"?

There's a rumor floating around that Stevie is in talks for Guentzel. Edvinsson was the ask, but Steve countered with Johansson. Pittsburgh will probably get more, I suspect. -

What do with Husso?
Motor City Mullets reacted to 13dangledangle for a post in a topic
Would think you ride the hot goalie. Lyon is currently amongst the top of the league (#9) and on top of that the boys really seem to rally around him so I really dont think you mess with that, wait for him to falter and ride Husso as a backup -

Yeah, this is pretty much where I'm at. And I feel like the trade target pool is incredibly underwhelming. I look at our forward group. When Kane draws back in and Kostin sits, who is it we're supposed to upgrade? Where's the weak link? I like Elias Lindholm and Sean Monahan, but I'm not sure either of them is better than Fabbri. How much do we want to pay (in the way of assets) for "Could be better than Fabbri, I guess...?" Our defense is...suboptimal. But we have an internal upgrade option in Edvinsson. (SPOILERS: The ask for Hanifin and Chychrun is gonna be too steep.) So I dunno. We've got a good thing going. If Lyon stays stellar, we make the playoffs. -
1 pointAt least we didn't trade for Dubois lol
-
1 pointGhost would be EASY to trade. But it aint happening. Saw somewhere today that if the playoffs started today, we would be playing Boston. Gotta say that matchup wouldn't scare me. It would be a good series. 6 or 7 games.
-
1 pointRas and Fischer are cheap (for now) so it may not matter in the grand scheme of things, but I don't think that is what was envisioned for Copps role when he was signed to that contract. I would say much more of an offensive Guy.

Im all for trading Gost and bringing up Edvinsson but thats a trade that brings back an asset not a dump. You dont dump Chiarot if you wanna go on a playoff run. -

Last night was our most complete game, imo. There were two lapses on the 2 goals - 1st one Petry doing Petry things and 2nd one Perron whiffing on a clear and then quittig on the play. Tough to blame anyone else but the players on those. But outside of that, we played very well. Even Ghost had a great game. The thing that stood out to me last night was the constant effort to keep Vegas on the perimeter. Seider is a MASTER of driving guys out of scoring position, but the rest of the team usually has a hard time keeping guys out of the way of the goalie. Last night that wasnt the case. Lyon saw EVERY SINGLE SHOT and there weren't a lot of times I can recall a Vegas player with tje puck on his stick between the dots. Complete shutdown. Now Im taking it with a grain of salt because Vegas was on a back to back , but it was still nice to see the Wings playing systematically instead of haphazardly. -

Pretty much how I used describe Detroit when folks asked me. They always think it's some kinda ghetto warzone, but I'm like nahhh more like a ghost town. Can I get a THANK YOU MILLENNIAL HIPSTERS from all the boomers? It was right around 08-12 when every underemployed fresh out of college white dude with dreadlocks started moving downtown. And since then their appetite for microbrews and tappas on the regular bro, has only increased. And I actually do give those borderline gutterpunks a lot of credit for the turnaround. There was a sudden influx of disposable income in the city all the time. Kinda a lazy Detroit "If they come, then we'll build it" scenario. -

I came down to Detroit in 2009 from upstate to watch Michigan State in the final four. At the time there were few bars and restaurants downtown and they were all at capacity. Because there was no place for people to go the owners of all the downtown buildings had opened up the storefronts for cash-only 'pop up" bars. You'd walk into a totally empty storefront, buy a can of beer out of a plastic kiddy pool with cash, and watch games on a flat screen sitting on a table or something. One night we were just talking down the middle of Woodward with a 30 rack, along with about a million other people, just screwing off. No police, no traffic, and nobody gave a sh*t. 15 years later all the buildings a full and lit up. There are restaurants and bars all over the place. There are people all over the place. The public spaces pretty much always have events and people are gathered around. I've seen ice rinks in the parks, skateboarding competitions, you name it. Go sit any any restaurant downtown on any weekend and the place will be full of people waiting for an event at St. Andrews, or the Masonic Temple, or any of the casinos or sports arenas. Oh, and the place LOOKS nicer too. Building have been renovated, murals painted, greenspace, lights, the whole nine. Walking up Woodward toward the LCA from Jefferson Ave. now is genuinely beautiful. The turnaround is incredible. -
1 pointI'm genuinely concerned that we'll make a trade and screw up the team chemistry that we're building right now. If we're still playing like this heading into the deadline I'd really only like to see an addition in goal (just to shore things up alongside Lyon, not necessarily replace him as starter), or a top six winger that plays fast and tenaciously, or maybe a depth RHD if one is available. But probably not all three. Our boys have bought into Lalonde's defensive structure and we're seeing great results. We've been beating the sh*t out of top teams for a month. I REALLY don't wanna change things too much. Like, if we add John Gibson and Jake Guentzel we might legitimately win a Cup if we keep playing like this.
-
1 pointNot if you're winning games. Not to mention the fact that our 1C and 2C are both less expensive that most competitive teams' rosters so we're saving money there. Take this with a grain of salt because I didn't verify the source, but according to this article the line had a 91% expected goals share against Philly. For those of you not overly familiar with the labyrinthine world of hockey analytics that's a very...VERY...good number.
