    2020 Draft Thread

I didn't really want the Rangers to win it. Would have preferred any of the Western Conference teams, but I'm just happy it's not Toronto. And the fact that they also have to give up their 13th overall to Carolina, makes it that much sweeter...

also on an even better note, since Toronto didn't get the #1, and they are sitting in the 13th spot, the have to surrender their pick to Carolina in the Marleau deal. The condition was if they get a top 10 pick they can opt to give them the 2021 pick. and just to confirm this...

My money is on either Leafs or Pens because that will piss me off the most. Going to think on which of those really yanks my chain for my final prediction

If there truly are hockey gods, the Jets will get #1. I get physically ill at the thought of it going to Edmonton, Pittsburgh, or Toronto.

    2020 Offseason

Nielsen has a modified no trade clause, no protection required.

    2020 Offseason

Nielsen does not need to be protected, and definitely won't be protected. We have two forward spots remaining after the obvious Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Fabbri, and Rasmussen. Yeah, Svechnikov and Timashov will be in the mix, but don't be surprised if Smith is there as well, by the end of next season. Either way, like I said, we won't be losing anything too significant. I'd say worst case scenario, we lose a Lindstrom (3rd pair defenseman) or a Timashov (3rd line winger), and best case scenario, we give up a mid round pick to get them to take Nielsen... The latter is probably unlikely, but Seattle will be looking to take on some bad contracts to get to the cap floor. They can't build a team completely with players on entry level contracts...

Unlikely, but definitely not out of the realm of possibility. I'd say All-Star, good chance, Hall of Famer, probably not... but maybe...

    That seems unlikely.

To me it's water under the bridge...I want a repeat of 1983 where our 4th overall pick becomes an All-Star, and HoF inductee.
