You're at the end of your career, Abby.  Write books and raise your child.  You had a good run.

I’m watching the game now on hockeytv.com I seen the goal but somehow missed the hit where he got hurt. I’m really enjoying my hockeytv subscription, get all the junior A leagues in Canada, bunch of local junior B leagues, NAHL, USPHL and a bunch of European leagues for just over 30 bucks Canadian a month. I wish I ordered this years ago, I’m going to watch Hronek’s game next!

Zadina scored an early power-play goal, and then took a hit to the head, and had to be helped off the ice. Did not finish the game. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, but another Red Wings prospect that cannot catch a break...

a little summary of our prospects in sweden
wherever he plays, he´s taken over. He only needs a few games to adjust and is almost instantly where he needs to be. I really enjoy watching him, his calm demeanor, the awareness what´s going on around him, his strength and positioning there is so much to like... I really can´t wait to see him in the NHL.

    Or Raymond.
I'll probably be watching the Berggren vs Veleno game, but flicking back and forth between the three games. I really wish they would spread the times out a little...

I think I remember posting before the start of the season that people here in sweden are really hyped for the kid. Like you, I had no real expectations or hopes for this season other than him being healthy. Now I'm working real hard on tempering my expectations of what he can become.

Could they move Hronek to, say, Finnish Liiga? I want that boy playing games...

as bad as all this covid-s*** is, there´s one good thing about it. We can watch quite a lot of our prospects in the SHL. Update of our Prospects in the SHL

I watched a Skelleftea game last week, and that entire game Berggren played on the top line wing, with (ironically) Andreas Wingerli as his center. I could be wrong, but I don't think he's played much, if any center at all this season.
I do find it kind of funny though, that you of all people, not only brought this up, but are "overjoyed" by Berggren potentially playing center. Berggren was drafted as a winger. How is it possible that a winger can transition to center? That can't happen... Can it?

Veleno has always been a year ahead in his development, compared to his peers. He was drafted into the QMJHL a year early, and 4 years later made the jump to the AHL a year early. He should have never been in the AHL last season, only for the exceptional status. He still put up nearly half a point per game as a 19/20 year old rookie, playing against men. I don't see any reason to be skeptical of Veleno's offensive upside. I still think he'll be a legit 2C capable of putting up 50+ points.

Yep. Yet he scored at a 26G pace over 82 games as a 20 year old rookie. I have zero issues with this prospect.

Right? Mind blowing how folks refuse to give a 20 year old kid a chance. Guys like Makar or Q.Huges who come in and dominate right away are the exception, not the rule.

Well, good job Yzerman didn't do this with Kucherov after his first season. 9G/9A in 53 games as a 20 year old. (Zadina had 8G/7A in 28 games by the way)

For me, I just believe there are better players available in the top 4. I wouldn't hate if we picked Drysdale, because he would immediately become our top prospect, but no matter how the top three shakes out, there will be at least one or two forwards I like more at 4th overall.
There's talk about every player outside of Lafreniere potentially being available at 4th overall. It's unlikely that Byfield drops, but he would be my first choice. Same goes for Stutzel, being my second choice. If that's the top 3 though, I'd still be leaning Raymond at 4. If it's none of those players, I'd have equal amount of intrigue / excitement / concern with Perfetti, Rossi, Holtz, Drysdale (in no particular order). Anyone outside of those guys, I'd have varying levels of disappointment...
Definitely things to consider, but neither should be a determining factor. Always take best player available, regardless of "need".
If Yzerman believes Drysdale is the best player available, he should pick him. He shouldn't pass on him just because he feels we already have our top four right side in Hronek and Seider. Or just because next year's draft is loaded with high end defensemen.
I'd argue that our biggest need is a right-handed sniper to flank the left side of our power-play, opposite Mantha / Zadina. However, Yzerman shouldn't reach for a player like Holtz to fill that spot, unless he and his scouts believe he's the best player available at 4.

This upcoming season in the SHL will be very interesting for us and the Red Wings player development staff. Big seasons coming for these two and Jonatan Berggren, I hope.

These are from The Athletic's Pronman, and I think say a lot about his evaluation system. When he ranked Detroit's prospect pool (released earlier this week) these guys were pretty far down the list. But when he scouted the European U20 camps later in the week look who impressed:
    Albert Johansson, D, Detroit
Johansson was the top defenseman at Sweden’s camp. In the 2001 age group he’s historically been buried behind numerous first-round-pick caliber talents for Sweden on defense. But with all those players not at the camp, he had an opportunity to shine. He’s a very smart two-way player who can use his brain and feet to help his team’s transition game. “His game has grown a lot since playing all last season against men. He is stronger and more confident with and without the puck. He knows he can match his opponents,” Monten said.
    Elmer Soderblom, RW, Detroit
Soderblom, drafted by the Red Wings in the sixth round in 2019, is trending up. He received praise from the coaching staff as one of Sweden’s top players at camp, along with Holmstrom and Johansson among the drafted prospects. Soderblom created chances for himself and others, and used his massive 6-foot-6 frame to get to the hard areas of the ice. “He’s a big guy but now he plays big. Gaining strength and quickness has helped his game become more efficient. He’s strong on pucks and takes them to the net hard,” Monten said.

This board is definitely slower then it used to be, but we are also the worst team in the NHL after being #1 franchise for 2 decades. Once we return to being contenders, I have no doubt that people will be back.
