And another undefeated bites the dust....you Spartans aren't planning on ruining my Saturday are you?

Not planning on it, but I did read that MSU has a 2-1 record against OSU when the Buckeyes are ranked #1. Be scared! ;)

now that the bulls are out. I really think the big question mark in the BCS rankings will be which 1-loss team is better? Oklahoma or LSU? I think we will have one undefeated team (ohio state or boston college) and then one of those 2 mentioned 1-loss teams in the game.

Don't worry, I remember 1998 vividly. And since John L. isnt there anymore, I am worried.

MSU will score a ton of pts against the Buckeyes. I worry tho if they can stop anything. If Saint-Dic doesn't have a huge game, gonna be very hard for the Spartans to win.

Yeah, I think its going to be another shootout. Oh well, should be an entertaining game to say the least.

Why is it an assumption MSU will score at will when you are playing a defense that allows less then 9 points a game? If MSU can't run the ball they are done.

I think MSU will definitely move the ball. This defense is much the same as last season's. It's in the redzone that the defense stiffens, forces a Turnover, blocks a FG, etc.

Ringer and Claucrick are really good, so I dont expect us to shut them down. However, MSU's defense is all over the place. Good D-line, decent linebackers, and an apparently horrible secondary. As long as we dont make mistakes read: lose the turnover battle), I think we win.

I just turned on the Iowa/Purdue game. What the hell is up with Iowa this season? I didn't think they'd win the Big 10 championship, but I thought they'd be in the top half to top third of the conference.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like Ferentz ran out of luck

Easy. Jake Christensen is an absolutely terrible quarterback. I just now watched him underthrow his receiver by a good four or five yards resulting in a pick, and right by the goal line too. Worst QB in the Big Ten by far.

Is MSU the worst-tackling team in the country or what? Seems like every time I looked, a Spartan defender was alligator-arming a Buckeye ball carrier. Mike Hart's main talent is breaking tackles, if he's healthy and if MSU doesn't make some quick improvement, chalk him up for 300 yards.

The tackling was even worse against Northwestern a couple weeks ago.

MSU and Iowa next week, that game could be the very definition of "ugly."

MSU will roll Iowa. Iowa doesn't have anyone on offense, so they can't expose MSU's weakness.

What an awesome night of football! Didn't look good early, both UM and UVA, on the road, went down 14-3 to start, but came back with gutsy performances. Chris Long is a BEAST. Best D-lineman in the country. First UVA game I get to watch this year turns into (I think) the first win at Maryland since I've been a fan. That 18-17 score is a bit deceiving....the offense was moving the ball only to stall at the 35 yard line damn near every time. And the defense was stout after the first quarter.

Next time UVA's on national TV, maybe the announcers will stop butchering the pronunciation of everyone's name. That's really annoying. First national TV game of the year for UVA and they insist on getting all the names wrong.

I still wish Long (chris) would have went to U-M. He is a great player. Great win by U-M. Henne proved he is the a great leader tonight.

MSU is hard to folllow....with Dantonio I would expect them to be a defensive team, but the core is the offense. I expect that to change in years to come.......

Great win by U-M.

Anyone else feel that Illinois blew that game rather than Michigan won? Two plays stand out for me to be the key moments of the game that led to the Michigan escape.

The roughing the punter call towards the end of the 2nd quarter. While the call was ligit, you don't do that if your Illinois. They had Michigan on the ropes and to no surprise after the call, Michigan marched down the field. Game would have been totally different had that not happen.

Next is the obvious play, the muffed punt return. Game tied at that point and you turnover the ball, your just asking for a loss.

Make no mistake, a win is a win. I just feel that Illinois blew this game.

I would expect the MSU defense to be a lot better in a few years, once the JLS players are gone and Dantonio is using his recruits.

Michigan took advantage tho. I wouldn't say Illinois had them on the ropes at the time of the roughing penalty, because it was only 14-10. Anybody's game. And after the penalty, Michigan still had to march 72 yards. Michigan didn't make mistakes, Illinois did, and Michigan took advantage. So no, I definitely don't feel like "Michigan didn't win, Illinois lost."

for a Division II update, Grand Valley has just set the DII record for consecutive wins with 35 in a row now.

Nice! I shamelessly jumped on the Grand Valley bandwagon beginning of last year when my brother started class there. This year they've just been absolutely dominating the opposition. I don't think any of their games have even been close.

I don't think so. They obviously caught more breaks then Illinois, but Michigan was playing with a 3rd string RB in Carlos Brown, and Ryan Mallett had to play some drives too.

Anyone see Carr and the Zooker shake hands? It was the fastest shake I've ever seen. Looked like neither wanted to do it. Maybe Carr is still mad at Zook's vote for Florida last year?

I wonder how long Chuck Martin will be at GVSU? He has to be getting called by D1 schools...

Hell yeah! It's nice having degrees from two schools. When MSU sucks it up in football, I can always count on my Lakers.

This year too is with a new QB after finnerty graduated. Icek is definitely a good transition.
