2007 College Football Season Talk

This is the first year I've ever rooted for Michigan football and gone into games hoping to win them, rather than expecting to.

Couldn't agree more with that. All their remaining games are 50/50 games at best. Minnesota should be a easy win, but they run spread so who really knows?

Now that this season is halfway over, I've been looking at the schedule and trying to figure out which teams can go undefeated and advance to the National Championship game. Obviously if LSU, Ohio St. and California go undefeated..they will be in, but can they go undefeated?? And who would they lose to? Let's begin the discussion.

LSU: i don't see this team losing

Ohio State: Game against Michigan might save Carr's job.

Cali: games against USC and Arizona State..this team will lose one of those two

BC: at Va Tech is gonna be tough

South Florida: this team should go undefeated. Curious to know if it will be enough to be in the NC game.

Missouri: this weekend against Oklahoma

Ari State: 3 games against Cali, USC, and Oregon. 1-2 loss team.

Cincy: USF and West Va. will lose 1 of these 2 games.

Hawaii: Worst schedule ever!! They are this year's Boise State.

Kansas: they get by colorado and texas am, they should be undefeated until mizzou. How the hell can you be in the big 12 and not play Oklahoma or Texas.

Right now, I see LSU-USF in a very weird title game. Those are the only undefeated teams that I can see in the title game. How pissed would Michigan or Buckeye fans be if Hawaii makes it to the title game undefeated while an Ohio State team with say 1 loss or a Michigan team with 2 losses total get denied.

I love when obscure teams like USF make noise, so i'll be rooting for them to go unbeaten and be in the title game. However, I think they lose at Rutgers. The Knights have 2 losses already, but prime time...Thursday night....just has all the classic makings of a loss for USF.

This Big Ten Network bulls*** has got to be stopped. They are basically stealing games away from us as fans. The Michigan AND Michigan State games are both only on the Big Ten Network. Which is complete bulls***. Soon were probably gonna have to pay if we want to watch ANY Wolverine games. Man this network is pissing me off royally.

I agree. If they can get by Rutgers, why can't they claim a shot at the national title.

I'm watching the USC, Arizona game. Man is USC still overrated.

Right now they're down 10-13. They lost last week to a 41 point underdog, they barely squeaked by Washington the week before that.

Even if they manage to win this win, they're no way they deserve to be a top 10 team.

One undefeated down. UVA knocked off UConn, but that sure was an ugly, unimpressive win.

(Make it two - LSU just got stuffed. Why can't this sort of thing happen to Ohio State?)

Wisconsin, Illinois, and FSU all lost, so I think this'll translate into a top-25 ranking for UVA.....but we really need to show more than we have.

Starting to feel a lot better about Michigan, though. Crossing my fingers, maybe the OSU game will be for all the marbles again.

what an incredible finish to the LSU-Kentucky game. So glad to see a Kentucky school show us that anything can happen in just a regular conference game.

No way. Michigan lost their National Championship chances. Game maybe for the Big Ten Title tho.

That's what I meant. So maybe one less marble.

I figured. Granted it will still be a good game, a chance for Michigan to ruin the Buckeyes season at least, but it won't be as big as last year's game. Last year it was for the National Championship, just everyone forgot to tell Florida.

Because we've played 3 teams from Ohio?

At any rate, our real schedule starts now. Michigan State, at Penn State at night, Wisconsin, Illinois, and at M*ch*gan.

You had to know Cal would blow it eventually...if they do indeed lose. Boston College at #2 baby...i love it!!! I knew that $4.99 investment at Steve n Barry's for a BC t-shirt 4 years ago would pay off eventually! Ive worn it to work alot all year so its hilarious that i can actually talk trash with it on now.

Cal is losing 31-21 to Oregon St. with 4 minutes left and OSU has the ball. Ohio State is about to be the number 1 team in the country, which is cool, but more of a testament to how crazy this season has been.

It'd be funny if Michigan hadn't lost either and it were right back to #1 vs. #2 again and piss off all the SEC lovers.

OH WELL.

OSU looks to be No.1...hope they stay there until November 17. They do have trouble at Happy Valley though. I'm starting to feel good on U-M again if Hart is good to go, but next week is the big week when we play a team good at spreading it out.

Anyone else think that the Buckeyes are completely overrated? I mean, who have they beat?? When Washington is your biggest win, you are in trouble. Buckeyes have a 50/50 shot IMO of either falling apart completely or running the table and winning the rest of their games.

#1 team should be South Florida.

This college football season is nucking futs so far.

Who the hell could have predicted that the top-2 teams would lose in the same day, that Boston College and South Florida could possible be the 2nd/3rd/4th best team in the national in the same week?

As disappointed as it was to see LSU lose that game being a big fan, I was pretty happy for Kentucky. They slugged it out and didn't quit, and deserved every bit of that win. I thought the game severely turned in Kentucky's favor when they were down 27-14 after an LSU FG and after a reception to one of their wideouts or tight ends, he fumbled, and an LSU defender could've easily secured the ball but somehow knocked it out of bounds. Kentucky had huge confidence and momentum then.

What was more annoying is I went out for a while last night after the game, I know I shoudn't have but I put on sports talk radio in my car on the way home and heard LSU fans overreact and complain and such. As much as I like LSU, I absolutely CANNOT STAND the general fan base of them. If LSU still wins out, I think they are still in the conferenece championship game. They thankfully didn't lose to an SEC West team/Kentucky is in SEC East, if that's any consolation. If they win out and win the conf. championship game, the national title hopes still remain, at tougher odds now though.

At least my school got a good non-conference road win at Stanford, 38-36 in a somewhat disapoointing start to the season. Not the hardest of competition, but there was the upset of USC obviously, so Stanford had to be confident. The big part of it was my school's offense FINALLY woke up and started to get going. Wish it was on TV, but oh well. I'm just hoping for a bowl game, don't care which one it is.

And as much as I want LSU to win the SEC and try to get to the National Championship, a part of me wants the little dudes in South Florida or Boston College to get in.

They could be, and I agree with your point, but if it's between OSU and SF I'm taking OSU every single time. OSU would smoke SF.

ARGH. Decisions decisions. Next week, same day same time, I've got Michigan-Illinois on ABC and Virginia-Maryland on ESPN2. What to do what to do what to do??? panic panic panic

oh wait....

TIVO BABY. :yowza:

:satisfied:

Actually even without Tivo the choice would be pretty clear. I've watched Michigan play Oregon, Notre Dame, and Penn State and haven't seen a single snap of UVA football all year unless you count highlights. Illinois is not a rivalry game either. Maryland is HUGE. We HATE Maryland. I think Maryland fans are the absolute worst fans in the country, even worse than FSU or MSU fans (sorry fellas.)

Come on, I've seen MSU fans called plenty of things, but there's no way we're the worst fans in the country, or even the Big 10. Wisconsin fans are the worst in the Big 10. As far as the country, come out to the Big 12. Texas Tech and Colorado fans are major assholes.

Texas Tech fans, Texas A&M fans, and LSU fans are the most annoying fans and biggest jackasses overall, hands down.

I'd lump Tulane fans in there as well since almost every sporting event I've been to with Tulane involved, there has been an idiot doing stupid stuff, but Tulane is rarely good at any sport other than baseball, it's hard to get fan support. :P

OSU hasn't beat anyone yet. But they haven't lost either. When you're closest game is a 23-7 win on the road at night, there's no reason for them not to be number one. And who hasn't been completely overrated this season?

True. But when you look right now at who played whom and which team deserves to be #1....South Florida wins hands down. Ohio State is number one because they are Oh, er THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.

You said it best a few posts ago...the real season for the Buckeyes begin now.
