IMO Michigan has to get to at least 5-2 before they sniff the top 25 again.

looking at the schedule, would they really put Michigan in the top 25 after beating their next 3 teams? Northwestern, Eastern Michigan, and Purdue.

Purdue is going to be the biggest game of the next 3 but really they need to beat Illinois and Minnesota too and be in the top 25 heading into the MSU game IMO.

If MSU is not in the top 25 yet, they would be in if they can beat their next opponent. Wisconsin.

One thing is for certain, Penn St. should not be in the top 25 after losing to a terrible Michigan team. As for Mich St., they shouldn't be ranked either. They haven't beat any good teams.

hahahaha LSU kicker Colt with his first rushing TD

That was just a sweet sequece. Holder of the FG just flips it over his head, David catches it, TD baby.

Shockingly though, that's not the first time I've seen a play like that happen. It was another LSU game, I think back in 1999 when they were struggling a bit was hosting Auburn. Auburn had a short FG attempt of probably no more than 25 yards, but they faked it and the holder flipped it behind his head the exact same way, and the Auburn kicker ran it in for TD untouched.

Watch college football highlights sometime today or tomorrow, it was a damned sneaky and fun play.

Wasn't the prettiest win, 28-16, but it was raining most of the day in Baton Rouge, expected some sloppy play and some mistakes. South Carolina is a better team than a lot of people give them credit for. I'll take the win. LSU's defense is just so fast. If you watch any future games of LSU, pay attention to defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, #72. He's all but a top draft pick assuming he stays healthy. He's a beast.

Hopefully my alma mater can follow suit tonight.

Kudos to both Michigan and MSU for wins today.

EDIT: Also, heard a few minutes ago that Appalachian State lost their first game today on the road by about 10.

You know what the problem is with Notre Dame sucking so bad? It's screwing up the evaluation of every team that's played them. How can you tell who's good when they get blown out every single week by more or less the same margin? Michigan has beaten Notre Dame, and beaten a team that played Notre Dame. And Virginia just beat Georgia Tech (sweet) which might be a nice barometer of how good the 'Hoos are, except Tech's only wins are - you guessed it - Notre Dame, and D-IAA Samford.

Good win today by U-M, and MSU. Thank goodness ND is now out of the BCS bowl picture officially!

After watching MSU...I still have many questions about them, but you can't stop confindence, and it is clear they have lots of it. I have been really impressed by Kellen Davis...that kid is a player.

Right you are. How many tight ends play defensive end as well???

The thing is that if John LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL were still in East Lansing, that kid wouldn't play on the field much. Tight Ends weren't apart of his spread offense.

Some of those questions should be answered next saturday when Michigan State plays Wisconsin.

I just hope we like the answers. I'm not expecting a win against the Badgers, especially playing in Madison. But if MSU can keep it close and play strong all four quarters, than I'll be happy.

Yesterday's game was pretty ugly in the first half. But here's what I liked. At halftime, Dantonio and the Spartans made adjustments and had a great second hafl. Coach Jabba, the offensive genius with the huge contract didn't do anything. Hey Chuck, how about that promise you made to the boosters that you'd never lose to MSU again?

And the Spartans set a record yesterday. They're the first team to beat the Irish 6 straight times at home. Rumor is that Notre Dame Stadium will be renamed, Spartan Stadium South.

Man, I watched one of the most pitiful 21-7 wins ever last night.

Thank goodness my school still has a ridiculously high pulse on defense, cause their offense is just terrible. Against the nation's worst passing defense they couldn't move the ball for crap, only have one offensive touchdown, and they turn it over in the red zone again, TWICE!

If not for an interception return for a TD and a blocked punt for a TD, my school's season is even more down the drain.

Purdue will most likely be 5-1 when they play Mich. The key will be how Purdue plays against Ohio St. If they get s***canned, then Mich most likely wouldnt be top 25 after beating them. However if Purdue plays the Buckeyes tough, then i think a win over them would be JUST enough to get them to #24 or 25. If the Purdue win doesnt put them in though, then why would beating Illinois and sorry Minnesota? Thats not going to change any pollsters minds. The Gophers will probably be sporting a 3-5 record at the time they play the Wolverines. Illinois could also easily be 3-4 since their next 2 games are really rough, and then their At Iowa.

In all honesty Purdue did not really impress me against Minnesota yesterday, by the end of the game Purdue was gased. They actully had to call a time out because they had a hard time getting back to the line of scrimage before play was to start again.

I have tickets as well now, not too sure about the location of the seats, but thanks to my mother's high ranking position in the world of automotive braking, a Michigan company with season tickets will have two Buckeyes in them.

All this is assuming that my dad doesn't want to go, because he can hardly stand to watch Michigan games anymore without drinking heavily.

The more I think about tomorrow's MSU-Wisconsin game, the more I am looking forward to it. This is a good test for this spartans team in an attempt to show if they are a much improved program or just same ol' sparty. Entering this season I thought the Spartans would go 7-5....and that is a good season compared to the recent John L. days, now they have an outside shot at turning some heads in the big ten (if they haven't already). It all starts tomorrow in Madison.

Oh and as far as the Michigan-Northwestern game. I expect the Wolverines to blow them out by at least 21 pts...probably a 48-27 type game.

So Michigan fans, was it as ugly as it sounded?

On defense, no. On the other side offense, and FG kicking were horrible. Henne played very well, but the playcalling was a joke. Run left, run left, screen pass, and then repeat it. They finally let Henne open it up when the game was closer then expected.

It was that ugly on defense in the first half! Luckily they got it figured out. I don't like giving up 300 yards in a half to a team that lost to Duke, though.

I thought they waited way too long to put Henne back in. Nothing against Mallett because I think he's going to be a great, great player, but Henne moved them on the first drive and then we really didn't do anything the rest of the half. That might be more because they're scared to let Mallett do anything.

It wouldn't shock me if we ran on every single first down in the first half. It was getting ridiculous. You'd think that if they're completely loading up on our zone left run, a play fake would work pretty well. Not that we'd try one.

Our FG kicking is an absolute disaster.

Oh so close in the MSU-Wisconsin game. Plenty of offense and tons of times where previous state teams would have called it a game and gave up. The team fought hard and showed that this is clearly not John L's Spartans. Good Job state in a loss and I am looking forward to them at least making an impact in the big ten race this year.

Big loss by West Virginia last night. Which means Rutgers is now the top dog in the Big East. Go RU :)

Not so much any more. Maryland knocked them off....although, that's not a conference loss. Still - bad news. I hate the Terps

But enough with the bad stuff.....how bout them 'Hoos? :D:D We were starting to get a teensy bit of recognition after three straight wins in the conference, but I was worried about how legit it really was, since they were all close wins, and two of them were UNC and Duke....and Georgia Tech wasn't looking like too much special either. Today though.....44-14 over Pitt, 27-0 after the first quarter alone. Now I know we can run an offense. Plus, UNC and Duke hung tough on the road against Virginia Tech and Miami, respectively, and Georgia Tech knocked off Clemson. So this is shaping up to be a very nice season so far.

That is very true for the defense. I thought the effort for them was very solid though especially the clutch turnovers they got in the 4th quarter.

The MSU game: Was very impressed with the play calling in that game. They use the RB's very well. Only bad call I thought was the final two offensive plays, and running the ball on 3rd and 7. They put up a very hard fight till the very end though.

Looks like Urban Meyer will have to cry to get in the National Championship again this year :P
