Hasek to play for Buffalo in 1999 Cup Final "Do-Overs"

Brett Hull, a former Dallas Star who has gained a considerable amount of weight since starting his new career as a hockey analyst, was not pleased with the announcement ... Dominik Hasek, currently a member of the Detroit Red Wings, had quite the opposite tone. “This is [my] chance for redemption. I am thrilled to take part in these [do-over games]. I will be ready for game 6… again.”

Lol, I wouldn't put it past Bettman.

ahaha funny, but fake....I found this on the same site:

NEW YORK, NY – New York Rangers center Chris Drury was spotted eating brains in a May 5th playoff loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Rangers forward Brendan Shanahan recalls the carnage, “Chris got [high sticked] in the face, the ref missed the call, and then he just wasn’t himself. I tried to hold him back…” Shanahan was unsuccessful in his efforts. Six Penguins were seriously injured, four of which were without their brains Monday morning.

lol aww man be awesome if this was true!

On a serious note.. yea it would be kinda dumb to do that now.. but you guys all have to admit Buffalo got hosed. I remember watching that game as a kid and being really upset with the outcome cause who didn't want Buffalo to win? They were a cinderella story man. And i remember the excuse after that goal went in.. Im sorry but the Stars already are celebrating with the cup so it's a goal! WHAT!!!???

Would Buffalo have won games 6 and 7 if that goal was taken away like it should have been? Dunno but they deserve there fair shot at it. And i know you all can say well.. it was a stupid rule to begin with and yes it was but they friggin harped on that rule called it anyother time.. so just because of the circumstance with the crease rule and the stars already having the cup they let it slide and shatter Buffalo's dreams?

If it was serious, and if they did do it over, my money would be on Hasek.

Oh, and while we're at it, there's this puck that went in the netting.......

Not as big of a game. It's the principle of the thing.

It's a joke. So was the 'goal' which awarded the Stanley Cup to Dallas in 1999.

Nope. Legal goal, under the same rule addendum that allowed Forsberg's breakaway goal in round 2.

I swear, half of my posts on this board are the same damn thing; explaining the FACT that Hull's goal was technically legal.

The NHL amended the rule after the fact. It wasn't legal at the time, but typical of the NHL, they made sure it stood, for obvious reasons. You can't unring a bell. What a shame.

It was a very fine technical point of discussion, as to whether Hull was in possession of the puck... or not. It's still debatable, unless one is convinced 100% that one is always right about everything. Done is done. That call was no different than the goal scored by SJ off the netting this season - except you don't leave room for questionable calls in a 3OT game that decides who gets the Stanley Cup. It was just wrong. Then, and now.

I attended "game 7" in Dallas in October, 1999. Buffalo beat the socks off of Dallas. Too bad the Sabres didn't get to take the Cup back home with them to Buffalo.

As the rule is now the goal should have counted, as it was then not so.

That was the year anytime anyone was in the crease the goals didnt count.

Brett Hull was in the crease before the puck got there, twice if I recall. On the original shot and on the rebound.

Basically Hasek should have his name on the cup twice and Hull's should be chiseled off, seeing as how it wasn't a legal shot at the time. And Brett Hull is an ******* unlike his dad. I remember him picking on Ray Ferraro on NBC last year. What a dick.

But would Hasek have left Buffalo if they had won a cup in 99?
