jenova0 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 1.5 million per or less, and I would welcome Williams back with open arms. Tomas Holmstrom - Pavel Datsyuk - Henrik Zetterberg Dan Cleary - Valterri Filppula - Johan Franzen Ville Leino - Darren Helm - Jason Williams Kirk Maltby - Kris Draper - Mike Grier If we could start the season with those forwards, I'd feel confident in our chances. NO, Jason Williams sux, period. end of discussion. His only use is shootouts.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 SERIOUSLY? Well hey...if Willie is worth 2.5 then Huds should of got a deal around the 4 million mark. My goodness.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 I suddenly want Sammy back after hearing this news. And what's this, we've signed Delmore again? God, I leave a few days for the Bar Exam, and come back to find out that Holland has completely lost his marbles. Did we sign Cory Cross in the last week by any chance? gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 Umm, I knew things weren't all rosy with the Wings, but I didn't think we were this desperate. Man oh man...didn't we get rid of this guy already for some pretty damn good reasons? Damn. Jason Williams?! For real?!? I'd almost rather write this year off now as a growth year and make sure the main GR kids are up getting experience so we can ice the most solid team possible in 2010/11. While it's not like he's the worst player in the world and at times shows potential, I just feel like this is not the right move to make at this point. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 Without Robert Lang, Williams is in essence a useless player. Also, he's softer than pudding, which isn't what this team really needs. He was always afraid to play along the boards when he was here, and for some reason Holland always seems to go for that s***.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 I'd be open to getting him back if it were anywhere between $500k and $1 million. Anything more, no thanks.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 Nice. How'd it go? First time? First and last. I'd rather die than go back there again for that 13 hour marathon over two days. I hardly slept or ate anything over the three days. Basically the worst and most important thing I've ever done in my life. Now I have 6 weeks to sweat over the results. But yeah, ironically preparing for the exam all summer was the only thing that kept my mind off that game 7 against the Pens. I hadn't posted here in a while and didn't know what kind of stuff the Wings were up to.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 I'd love to have Williams back, doesn't sound as though he really wants to come back though... There is NO way he would be signed for $2.5 mil, that number is a complete lie.

Me thinks I'd rather die than watch Williams in a Wings jersey again. Best of luck. Definitely let us all know when you've officially become a full fledged liar/lawyer. Kidding, kidding. Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 Well after reading snippets of his interview on Kuklas Korner.. I am wondering why we offered and why he is even considering coming back! the ball is in our court eh???? that means we offered him $1 mill and he countered $2.5? either way this is NOT what I had in mind as a Off season signing. Follow Hudler to the KHL..please!!!

Holmstrom - Zetterberg - Datsyuk Cleary - Filppula - Frazen Leino - Helm - Malhortra Oulahen - Draper - Peca Maltby (McGrath) Now, if Lilja gets put on LTIR and they have some more money to spend, sure I'd take all THREE Malhortra, Peca & Grier. But I a not so sure about lsong out on McGrath or Oulahen as they would have to lear waivers to be sent back to GRR. So I am going with my lineup... I guess if Ouhlahn and/or McGrath would clear waivers you could give Williams about $700,000. But no more and thats it. Of course you are not going to know that until after camp, so signing Williams would have to come then... Edited July 30, 2009 by LeftWinger
evilmrt 636 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 Uh, if this is true, then I really think Holland should retire and let Stevie run the show in 1 or 2 seasons. After sitting around in the Wings front office all this time, learning from some experienced guys (including Bowman before he left), and finally being chosen to run Team Canada, I really think its going to be his time soon. For Holland's sake, I hope this 2.5 million story isn't true. Wow does it look bad.
