funguy21 2 Report post Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) Right now Eaves does not need to be on that fourth line in my opinion he deserves to be on the second line. All you have to do is look at his stats more importantly his goals. He has more goals then Bertuzzi who is a second liner, he has just as many goals as Filpula the second line center most of the year. Yeah Eaves doesn't have the assist that the other players have but that can be associated with the line he is playing on which isn't meant to be a scoring line. If you put him on a line with other offensive players his points will increase significantly. This guy is a top 6 foward on this team right now and when they are all healthy he should not be put lower then the third line. There is no way in hell that Hudler should be on the third line when Eaves is scoring and playing circles around him. Right now the second line should be Cleary-Filpula-Eaves and when they are healthy the third line should be Cleary-Modano-Eaves. The guy has earned his right to play a bigger roll on the team and if Babcock is looking for a guy to step up he shouldn't be looking at Hudler should be looking at Eaves. I think one of Flip's main problems this year is that he hasn't really been using his speed since early in the year. A couple other fast guys like Cleary and Eaves could be just the thing to get him moving again. Plus Eaves has been hot lately and deserves a chance in Pav's absence. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 25, 2010 Is it crazy to think Eaves might get 20 goals if he stays healthy this year? With 8 already playing on the 4th line I think it's possible. Great to see this guy doing so well for us after being written off in Carolina. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

Plus Eaves has been hot lately and deserves a chance in Pav's absence. i remember when the season first started, flip had like 890 shots per game. then for some reason, he quit shooting. now im not saying they were 100% quality shots, but you put the puck at the net and things happen. i'd love to see eaves line w/ flip 1 LidsFan reacted to this

newfy 695 Report post Posted December 25, 2010 Ryan Miller. A goalie is about as robotic as you can get and one season doesn't really make you a star...
Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted December 25, 2010 Eaves outplaying huds, flip and bert Eaves to 2nd line yupppp Relative to talent, Eaves is outplaying (or at least out-producing) everyone except Cleary and maybe Homer. 1 LidsFan reacted to this

achildr1 255 Report post Posted December 25, 2010 ^ Zach Parise? I said Miller because I thought of all the American players, he probably gets the most "Star" type love from the hockey community. Parise is a solid pick though. If he didn't play for NJ he'd probably be a bigger deal.
