WCQF Game 6 GDT: Coyotes 5 at Red Wings 2

I live in California now and don't have the luxury of going to the games like I used to years ago. The crowd at the Joe is pathetic. It's like a morgue in that place. It's like people forget that the players feed off the energy of the crowd. Spoiled I guess. Used to winning all the time. They cheer when the Wings score and if we make a big hit now and then. But for the most part it's pretty quiet. Watch the crowd at The Staples Center tonight. And for that matter, watch the crowd in Phoenix next game. I, partly, blame the fans at the Joe.

I think Babs saying Wed like to think we are the better team, pretty much sums up a lot of the problems on the ice.

Its great that you think you are the better team guys, that makes me happy.

BUT

Play like the better team and win the ******* games and be the better team.

Thinking your the better team and being the better team are not the same.

This is the attitude that kills this team and its obvious by the way they play half the time.

You do realize Hossa has less points than Franzen in these playoffs? And that Franzen missed 4 months of the season with a torn ACL and that kind of injury can take a while to fully recover from?

Aside from being a red wings fan, if the Wings lose Game 7, the play-offs will be a lot more uninteresting. San Jose will crush Phoenix. Washington will easily crush Philly, Pittsburgh will likely win against Buffalo/Boston. The only interesting series will be Chicago-Vancouver. Detroit needs to win.

Also, I hope the Wings are aware that both Gordie Howe and Brendan Shanahan were at the Joe today. As I see it, Game 7 needs to be a big, butt-kissing apology to both of those guys for how they played today.

Everyone saying they played a piss poor game I guess just saw the box score, not the game. Did special teams blow it? yes big time, but to say they played like s*** is ridiculous, they carried the majority of the game and bryzgalov came up huge a few times.

I really doubt anyone would "crush" Phoenix, least of all San Jose. I know we all would like to think that the Red Wings can win every game 10-0 if they just play their best and everytime they lose it's because they're Lazy And Suck but you know what, sometimes the other team has something to do with it as well. Phoenix is a very good team and will make some noise if they advance from this round.

Bah. Our PK blew that game. The Wings came out of the gate really strong then they fell apart once the PK failed them.

Not a good time for the PK to s*** the bed.

All we can do is hope the Wings bounce back as well as they have after all of the other losses.

Didn't see the game, but from the score me thinks they came out in a lackluster fashion.

Only bright side is that the Wings come out strong the very next game.

Actually they came out and played the best they have all series.

This series has been a disappointment.

The way the Wings finished the season, I figured they'd have enough in them to make a deep playoff run, especially since many of our players were fresh having missed most of the season.

Instead, this team is playing nothing like it did since the lockout.

It's almost as if they used up all their energy in making the playoff push, and were satisfied with just making it in. This doesn't look like a group of players who are on a mission and are ready to make a playoff run.

The whole team sucked today. Blaming Lidstrom is well kind of ridiculous. Without Nick we probably aren't in the POs and are minus a few Cups. Is he the player he used to be? No but he's still better than most D-men out there. This team is going to take a real dive when #5 retires, I dare say even more so than #19. Defense is harder to replace - and well you can't replace guys like that.

I'm going to enjoy every minute I get to watch him play - even if Tuesday is the last game of the season. Should he step it up? I think so but the guy is already on the ice half the game - someone else needs to do their job. I'll never question the guy or run him out of town even if his game slips - I think he's earned that.

No one should blame Howard. Only the first goal was questionable, the rest were bad bounces, deflections and a great shot. Yotes got all the bounces and our defense wasn't very good, especially not on the PK.

I like our chances in Game 7, but it could definitely go either way. I had a feeling this game would go 7 games before it started. Yotes just won't go away.

But the fact is, he has made some serious mistakes and his rebound control and decision making have been piss poor, which have led to "good" goals or at the very least great chances by the Yotes. Remember Howard's "great second save" on Hanzal's breakaway in game five? The only reason Hanzal got a second shot is because Howard wasn't square to Hanzal to begin with, and didn't properly direct the rebound towards safe ice, but rather put it right back to Hanzal, who was about to turn up ice.

Howard's rebound control had greatly improved as the season went on, and his decision making was much better in March than in November. But in this series, it looks more like Jimmy from November than from March. He's dropping rebounds in the slot, tossing the puck out of his glove when there are forecheckers around, and not positioning himself as well as he should be. And it's shown in the results. Many of his teammates have not played up to par, but Howard honestly should not be back in net for Game 7.

The chances that Game 4/5 Howard shows up on Tuesday are much, much greater than those of God-mode Osgood showing up.

Regular season Osgood won't win game 7, we'd have to pray that Ozzy just flips the switch.

It'd be utterly foolish to risk putting Ozzy in in game 7 at this point.
