Per Darren Dreger's Twitter:

"In an hour or so, the Detroit Red Wings will announce veteran asst coach Brad McCrimmon won't be back for a 4th year on the Wings bench."

Edited by Jesusberg, 19 May 2011 - 09:18 AM.

The most popular choice among the Red Wings as to who would volunteer to play goalie – several Panthers did in their game – was Brendan Smith.

"He's pretty competitive and he seems to be good at everything," Justin Abdelkader said. "He'd volunteer himself."

Babcock was a bit more hesitant about Smith. "Yeah, yeah, just work on getting out of your zone," Babcock said

Egads! Upon whom shall we now lay blame for our flaws?

Money on the board!  Current total: $7

$1 for each goal scored by a current Wing after whom I've named a hamster.  +$5 if one scores a hat trick.

+$1 if a GWG.  +$5 if it is a GWG in a series-winning game.+$50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup.

$5 for each time a goalie after whom I've named a hamster prevents all opposing shots from going in the net.

The hamsters names are as follows (current Wings in red)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew (Drew) Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

My initial reaction is happiness, as I have called for this many times.

However, I'm more curious to see who will replace him.

Lol, they have read letsgowings.com
"I consider the Detroit Red Wings one of the greatest franchises in any sport. For a player to come in and play, it's so special to wear the jersey."

Step 1: Fire McCrimmon
Step 2: Hire/Promote new defensive coach
Step 3: sign Ehrhoff/Bieksa
Step 4: Howard plays like he did in playoffs all season...
Step 5: Win Jennings for least amount of goals conceded..

I hear Ken Hitchcock is on the market for a job... Could he fit in nicely with Babcock as our Defensive Coach? Didn't they work together at some point (Olympics)?
