The video is pretty choppy for me, but it looks like the puck caught him in the ear. His left hand goes to the right side of his head. That's gotta hurt, Bob.

He dropped like a ton of bricks and you can hear him screaming as he goes into the dressing room holding his face. Clearly this was more than a little cut.
According to Bob McKenzie he's seeing an eye specialist but there's too much swelling to know anything.

I don't wish him ill and I'm not thrilled he got hit with a puck, but it didn't hit him in the face, so there's no danger of a broken jaw or orbital bone, so he'll be okay. It also didn't sound like he was "screaming" getting off the ice, even though the announcer says so. All I heard was a few "ah, ah, ah"s. He's fine. I'll bet money on it. Maybe a few stitches, but I don't think there's even any chance of concussion on that one, hence pretty much a lack of sympathy other than an "Ouch, that had to hurt" kind of thing.Stay classy Wings fans.

He took a stick to the face, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. The puck wasn't involved. And you can hear the yelling.
I think Pronger is a player who goes over the line (though I'd take him on the Wings), but that doesn't mean I'm happy when he takes a stick to the face.

What? Grabovski's stick hit him in the eye.

I've watched it 5 or 6 times, but it skips quite a bit. From I can tell, it looks like the puck hits him going past. There is no blood on his jersey or the ice, no one is holding a towel to his face. He falls quickly, but you have to admit that's not surprising. From what I could see and hear, my perception remains the same; he's not seriously injured, and damn that had to hurt. If there's a better angle or the current video isn't so choppy at a later date and it proves otherwise, I'll retract my statement and issue one appropriate for the circumstances. Until then, lots of ice and Motrin. If it's not a heart-stopping puck to the chest, I find it difficult to work up a whole lot of sympathy.

I hate to be mean but I honestly and truly can't conjure up a whole lot of sympathy. I'm sure it is painful and all, I get that, but it's Chris Pronger, for crying out loud - how am I supposed to feel sorry for [i]him[/]????
I don't wish any harm to any player but I can't stand the ****** bag and don't have much sympathy for him and never will.

Exactly.I have nothing against Pronger and I hope he can still see with both of his eyes.
I guess I gave Wings fans too much credit. Pronger has been a major rival over the years, but from the replay and from McKenzie's twitter update, it seems pretty likely he either had an injury to his eye or a very close call. It sucks to see any player suffer an injury like that during a game.
jeebus people. It's not like Pronger has ended anyone's career like Bertuzzi.

I'm all for hoping he doesn't die. When that puck hit him in the chest, I didn't realize it caught him in the heart and made it stop. I was at the game and saying something like "Oh, suck it up, you pansy. You can dish it out but you can't take it." Then I heard his heart stopped and knew I had just made my reservation for the second circle of hell.I loathe Chris Pronger. I hope he's not seriously injured, but I still loathe him. I can hate you and hope you don't die all at the same time.
THAT circumstance deserved care and concern. This is NOT the Stevy Y hit against Calgary. Those of us who aren't rustling up a whole lot of sympathy remember his Homer sandwich in the playoffs. He has a lot of karma coming back at him. If you're going to get all worked up over everything that happens to him, you'd best get comfy.

One person made a comment to this affect, but I don't believe anyone else here said they were happy he was hurt, or that they hoped he lost an eye, or that his career was over. Your post would have been better suited if everyone had. He goes in the same pile for me as Corey Perry, Matt Cooke, and other douchebags, but that doesn't mean I find joy in his obvious pain, and I hope I can speak for others in that as well.
There's no need for any moralizing.

No one openly said they were happy, but it's a surprisingly callous response from hockey fans when a player takes a stick to the eye. Like saying he should use ice and motrin.
At the risk of moralizing, don't expect better from any other team's fans when one of our players gets hurt.

This piece of s*** deserves to be injured after trying to step on people with his skate and running people from behind into the boards. Don't forget his cheap attempt to injure Yzerman in the 2002 playoffs. He's attempted to injure many players in his career. What goes around comes around.
