vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 This announcement on Yahoo was headed by a picture not of Carlyle, not Nonis, but Mike Babcock. Wonder where they're going with that little bit of subliminal suggestion?
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 The great thing about being a Leaf is the lifetime supply of Tim Horton's. Hard to believe that's a professional hockey player. Looks more like one of the IT guys here at work. This announcement on Yahoo was headed by a picture not of Carlyle, not Nonis, but Mike Babcock. Wonder where they're going with that little bit of subliminal suggestion? Subliminal? There is nothing subliminal when it comes to Leafs nation and Babcock. I almost expect either Horacheck or Spott to be wearing "the McGill tie" behind the bench tonight. 1 Mckinley25 reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) If we lose to Edm tonight, give the Leafs what they want, Babcock .... and as compensation, Bozak and Franson and a 2nd round pick. frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) The irony behind Kessel being asked if he's difficult to coach, then insisting he's not by throwing a tantrum... ahh. To be fair, the media here is difficult, but he should be a little more used to it by now. Well I think it's an incredible stupid question that seriously provokes such a reaction. If I were Kessel I'd pay someone to make me a homepage with a small content management system and all I'd be writing down are the media guys I'm not going to answer questions from anymore so they could look it up themselves and if they still asked something, I'd just not answer anything. This announcement on Yahoo was headed by a picture not of Carlyle, not Nonis, but Mike Babcock. Wonder where they're going with that little bit of subliminal suggestion? Wouldn't that be tampering ? I liked him as a coach, but he is ridiculously impatient with the media... or maybe it's just with HSJ. I think Babcock is the type of guy who doesn't want to ask question he wants to go right down to work and try to become better everyday but man the Toronto media is ruthless even he would have a hard time there. Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 Word. I remember Malik sulking a few years ago when Babcock accused him of "starting fires" when he heard he was a blogger. When isn't Malik sulking? I'm near positive that George spent the next month staying up at night, thinking, "Why doesn't Mikey like me?"

Mckinley25 678 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 The great thing about being a Leaf is the lifetime supply of Tim Horton's. Is there a professional athlete who looks less like a professional athlete than Kessel? (Baseball players excluded.)
kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) I'm near positive that George spent the next month staying up at night, thinking, "Why doesn't Mikey like me?" Malik seriously obsesses over Babcock. I don't think, since the end of last season, that he's written a single post without mentioning how "crazy" and "absurd" any talk of Babcock leaving is. For some weird (and super creepy) reason, he's got A LOT riding on Babcock staying in Detroit. Like, an unnatural amount of skin in that game. Anybody remember the end of that movie "The Aviator" when Leonardo DiCaprio keeps repeating "the way of the future" while he slowly loses touch with reality? That's how I imagine Malik should Babcock decide to sign somewhere else. "Babcock to Toronto, what a laugh that is...what a laugh that is...what a laugh that is...what a laugh that is...what a laugh that is..." Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 So Randy Carlyle is out of a job...I have two questions. 1) Does he have his own goalie pads? 2) How does he do in the shootout? I know he's a coach, but we need a goalie for shootouts...don't judge me. 2 KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 and Smite reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 Last 10: Toronto 3-7-0, Wings 3-4-3 .. we're not doing much better. We got to turn this ship around as well.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 Last 10: Toronto 3-7-0, Wings 3-4-3 .. we're not doing much better. We got to turn this ship around as well. But Detroit's numbers are better in nearly every major team catergory: GA, PP%, PK%, Shot attempts allowed, faceoff wins, etc. Unless those numbers turn, the wins have to start coming again soon. Plus the 3 OT/SO loses have helped open up the lead over the Leafs by 3 points. Anytime you can do that in a 10 game stretch, you're doing OK. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

They definitely need to turn it around, but I don't think they're trending as badly as the Leafs were. Here's a decent article on Carlyle being fired. Pay particular attention to the graph about the Leafs corsi. http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/674165

pondrocket 35 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 I don't see Babs going to Toronto. They don't have time to wait & he is still seriously considering Detroit. That being said Holland needs to improve the back end. Something he has failed to do through free agency & through trade for 6 years. Without that why should Babs stay? KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 426 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 Babs is going nowhere... He would be a fool too leave. Ya know... since Dave Lewis and Paul MacLean aren't currently employed. That would be something strange IF they had interest in coming back.
