but I'm sorry, if all we lost was 2 draft picks and a "good" prospect and gained Franson and Jagr, this team would be better and harder to play against. Thus organization is deep enough to give up a couple of draft picks for a better shot at the Cup this year.

As much as I want new faces, I don't think Franson and Jagr would've made a difference tonight.

Just got back from the game. Tough to be a road fan for that one. We didn't have much life in the beginning and when Mrazek gave up that goal two minutes in, I thought "Crap, he's going to have one of THOSE kind of games isn't he?". He was having issues with the puck, the defense wasn't really helping much at all. We didn't show any signs of life till the third. Despite getting creamed by the Pens, I still had a pretty decent night at the game. The Pens fans gave me a lot of ribbing, but not mean spirited by any means. The guy behind my 7 year old was very vocal for the whole game and he bought my son an ice cream when the Pens made 4-0. I met a ton of Wings fans there and they were all cool. I guess that's how it is when you're a fan of the road team, anyone wearing the same color as you, is now your friend. lol The highlight of my night was the pregame warm up. We got right up to the glass and Luke Glendening slammed himself right into the glass and bumped into my son startling him and the look on his face was priceless. I think Luke did it on purpose too. So while it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for, it was still pretty fun. I rarely get to see the Wings up close (this is only my 6th game in 29 years of being a fan) so that's always a treat. Next game I go to though, I want to be at the Joe. Surround myself with some Wings fans for a change. lol

Most of the comments here are embarassing. I wish a lot of people would either play hockey at a somewhat high/competitive level, or shut up a bit.

What has everyone here been crying for forever?

"Let the kids play"

"Get rid of Franzen"

"Bench Cleary"

Etc, etc.

Guess what? All of those are happening and still no one is happy. Hockey has ups and downs, you are not going to win every game and sometimes you're going to get smoked. It's a curve, especially with teams like Detroit who have players who are still learning what it takes. You don't figure out the NHL in a couple games, in a stretch of games or sometimes even in a season. It takes time. They're learning.

You think Pittsburgh is in a different class than Detroit(someone said this)? They have more talent, arguably, but they don't have leadership, heart, compete level and usually no work ethic. Have you watched all the games PIT has collapsed in? Have you taken a look at their record against their division?

I get that this is an internet forum and the point is to discuss hockey and the game at hand, but it doesn't HAVE to be a hyperbole tabloid styled bitchfest. It could be real discussion with thought, not ripping your favorite team to shreds because they didn't "punch Cindy in the face!"

I've never seen you around here, but you're alright.

Franson alone will go for more.

Our team would be bigger, but softer actually.

Is Franson a soft player ? Looking at his size I think he could lay out some people with nice hits and provide some offense here and there.

Anyways Pittsburgh was due for a better game, they are way too talented to struggle unfortunately they came alive against the Wings. Winnipeg should be a much easier game.

Winnipeg will not be an easy game. They are big and play hard.

So... Pittsburgh let Ottawa climb back into the game last night. What gives?! Why they no do that for us?!

Also, thanks to the Oil and Blues for keeping Montreal and TB grounded last night. ...although I guess the Habs did get a point.

Where are you getting this 1st + Prospect from? You keep saying it, but every other place I've looked has said a 2nd and a prospect.Malik.:ninja:
Tsn.ca tradecenter
Dreger listed Dallas and the Anaheim Ducks as teams that would have interest in Cody Franson and that the Leafs would likely look for a roster player in his early 20s as the key component in any return. Failing that, Dreger said, the Leafs could be looking for multiple picks, including a potential first-rounder .

Laughable. Seriously. Does Toronto think they've got any leverage in this situation?

Toronto wants to deal him. Get something for a guy that isn't going to re-sign with them.

Teams know that Toronto wants to deal him because they can't really afford to sign the guy to the contract he wants.

So, why anyone would give the Leafs what they want?

A 1st round pick {PLUS} for a guy who in all likelihood could end up just being a rental?

A week ago, word on the street was a second rounder could get you Franson. Now it's a 1st++.

Talk about lessons in negotiations. You start high and go from there... not the other way around.

I like Mrazek, but three of the four goals he let in should have been routine saves, especially the first and fourth. Second goal he had no chance on. He did well in his call up, even though he allowed quite a few goals. I'm hoping he goes down to GR where he can continue to play alot and keep improving. This whole "not knowing what to do with our goalies" thing and carrying three makes no sense. I think its pretty simple. Howie and Gus in Detroit, Mraz in GR. Or trade Gus and keep Mraz up full time if you really want him in Detroit. Hopefully Holland does'nt pull a dumb move and waive Gus, where he will be claimed and lost for nothing. Should at least try to get something for him if hes expendable. I don't feel he is, but i'm not Holland.
