Zegras.

Zegras.

Zegras.

"USDP are just power play specialists" is the new "lazy and sucks."

Ive only watched about 15 minutes of youtube on this guy, so my opinion isnt worth spit.  But i am not impressed.  Watch Veleno and Cozens vids.  Power play tallies, skating, 5 on 5, etc.  All i see out of Zegras is Jurco part 2.

Zegras is lazy and he sucks. Needs more cowbell. Broberg clappin' bombs out here and playin' 5-on-5. I don't see Zegras skatin'. Where is my 5-on-5, damn it.

Just curious if anyone is questioning how good some of these u.s kids really are ?hughes will be a good nhler no doubt , I just see the roster they had for the like the juniors and that team is super stacked so I’m thinking it must be so much easier to perform and stack up the points when your team has a bunch of kids that will likely go first round (hughes, zegras, turcotte,Caufield, boldy,York ... possibly beecher and vlasic)

has there ever been a single team with so many potential first rounders?anyone think zegras might just be a good 2nd or 3rd line guy? Caufield?Turcotte, boldy?

outside hughes/kakko who do you guys think can be a sure #1 line player

Zegras doesnt impress me at all.  People get on AA here for his 200 ft game.  Zegras doesnt even have a 75 ft game.  Watch where AA starts all his highlights.  Most that arent power play are well within his own end.  Zegras' highlight reel is not even past center ice.  No thanks.  That guy is a bust waiting to happen.

Which school did you get your scouting degree from again?

Right now I think Byrum, Turcotte, and Zegras are gone in that order just ahead of us. Who do you pick between Dach and Cozins. They both shoot right I think. Win win

If it were to play out that way (I don't think it will), I'd be thrilled with Cozens at 6. I think Zegras could be available there as well though. I think Hughes (NJD), Kakko (NYR), Turcotte (CHI) and Byram (LAK) are top 5 locks. The wild card is Colorado and who they take, or even if they keep their pick...

So where does that put Podkolzin?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there rumors swirling of him staying over there, and playing in the KHL for a few seasons where he can make a lot more $$$ right away?

The speculation is anyone who nabs him will have to wait 2 seasons before he comes over. He's been linked to us because we'e one of the teams that can afford to wait.

Yeah, pretty much. He's likely staying in Russia for two seasons, which isn't a big deal to a rebuilding team. I think Podkolzin falls out of the top 5. It's possible that we take him at 6, but I personally hope not...

Podkolzin sucked at the U20s, and that's going to hurt his draft stock considerably more than it would other guys because his MHL and KHL numbers were generally not good either. I think the perception that he was a top 3 guy was based on the flashy nature of his game.  People go nuts for flashy players, even if they aren't that good.  The story seemed to be, "yeah he doesn't score much, but he's bound to break out.  Just LOOK at him, he oozes skill".  Basically the exact opposite of Arthur Kaliyev.  But that can only last for so long if you don't ever  show up on the scoreboard.  I think this guy tumbles pretty far this year.

Yeah I was re-watching videos of him last night, and my talent boner was fully erect

But then you go check his stats again and you're like, oh yeah, but he doesn't actually score that much.

IMO, if Byram or Cozens aren't there at 6, that's when I make a trade. Not unless we feel that Caufield is going to continue his scoring prowess.  I, of all people, realize that just because you light up jr's, doesn't mean you'll slight up the NHL....re: Tippett.

I’d have zero problem taking him at 6

Spencer Knight...

6th overall is probably way too early to take him...

Theres no way he's still available at 35th overall...

Goaltending is not a major need with Larsson, Eliasson and Petruzzelli in the system...

But part of me really wants to trade up to 20 to get this kid...

I literally haven't thought about the draft for about a week. Coming back to it now, I'm like "Holy s***, we could get Kirby Dach!" I am so pumped for this draft. All these players are great.

OR... Dylan Cozens!!! :w00t2:
